2004 Toyota Sienna Le Mini Passenger Van 5-door 3.3l on 2040-cars

Year:2004 Mileage:150164
Location:

Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, United States

Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, United States

·      Reasonably well kept Sienna from right after the major 2004 model change. With 8-passenger seating, stowaway rear seating, and removable first row seats, you can easily lay a 4x8 sheet of plywood flat on the floor and still close the gate normally, or you can pack it full for a long vacation, or create multiple seating patterns. The Sienna has an incredibly tight turn radius. It's beautifully engineered. It gets somewhere in the neighborhood of 25mpg.

·      Our Sienna drives smoothly and has always been a dependable car. It has never needed anything beyond the standard recommended maintenance. I just gave it a full-synthetic oil change, all inspection items are in compliance so far as I can tell, and it is PA inspected until the end of this year. The timing belt was replaced at 100,000 miles. Two brand new tires, two newer tires. K&N air filter, all fluids topped off, full tank of gas, excellent newer battery, clear title, and only 150,163 miles.

·      Privacy glass, power rear windows, cruise control, roof rack, CD/cassette player, aftermarket DVD system. All power options work normally.

Dependable, well-used vehicle with many signs of large family use. Several palm-sized dents on the gate from pushing it closed, a long, slightly indented scratch on passenger side, partially clouded headlights, aftermarket overhead DVD system needs a little wiring work, air conditioning is not working, radio gets poor reception, glove box lock is broken, small cracks in dash to the left of the steering wheel, driver's side sliding door window does not go the whole way down, a few scratches on the interior plastic walls in the rear, missing DC outlet, and small oil leak under engine, vehicle has never had a spare tire of which I am aware (this model was supposed to rely on run-flats, I think).

I bought this car on ebay in 2006 from a seller in Illinois. I am the second owner. Our family of 7 has gotten excellent use out of this Sienna over the years. I am selling this Sienna because we have upgraded to a newer car.

Payment: Please be honest about bidding only if you are willing and able to complete the transaction. I am doing all I know to be honest with you. Thank you for being a person of integrity with me. I am happy to pick you up from MDT (Harrisburg International Airport) which is only 20 min. from our home or from the Mount Joy, PA Amtrak train station which is only 5 min. away.

Toyota engineer warns automous cars could increase fuel use, urban sprawl

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

An increasing number of people are starting to consider the potential downsides of a transition to autonomous cars. The FBI is already looking at them for the potential ill effects on law enforcement, and a scientist for Toyota is raising the possibility that driverless vehicles could actually be detrimental to the environment over the long term.
Ken Laberteaux, who studies future transportation for Toyota, thinks that autonomous cars could lead to more pollution, not less, says Bloomberg. However, Laberteaux's theory isn't so much based purely on science as it is considering behavioral and historical trends. "US history shows that anytime you make driving easier, there seems to be this inexhaustible desire to live further from things," said Laberteaux during a presentation at the Automated Vehicles Symposium in San Francisco, CA, cited by Bloomberg.
Laberteaux's belief is that if commuters can make their drives easier, then they will be more willing to live farther away from the cities where they work. The end result would be more urban sprawl and increased pollution from the longer travel times.

Toyota and Lexus show off advanced safety research vehicle [w/video]

Tue, 08 Jan 2013

While Google and Audi explore the possibilities of autonomous vehicles, Toyota and its Lexus division are studying the intermediate step of vehicles equipped with a deep suite of technology that help drivers make the best decisions. Introduced at this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the Lexus advanced safety research vehicle is an LS sedan fitted with three high-def color cameras to detect objects up to almost 500 feet away, 360-degree Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) lasers that can detect objects up to 220 feet away, three radar units to keep track of other vehicles at intersections, a precision odometer on the rear wheel, GPS that estimates orientation and an accelerometer.
Currently testing at a purpose-built 8.6 acre urban testing ground at the Higashi-Fuji Technical Center in Susono, Japan the Toyota research vehicle is being used to study how to make better drivers, as well as figuring out how to reduce crashes as the industry's journey through passive and active safety systems progresses. In the event of a crash, new rescue systems are also being tested.
Further investment is being put into the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) that would use shortwave signals to harness information from the car and from other vehicles on the road, as well as roadside infrastructure and even pedestrians. Toyota reasons it could then build a picture of interactions and, for instance, alert the driver to a potential collision at a blind intersection.

Toyota says you might have the 40-millionth Corolla ever built

Sat, 07 Sep 2013

The guy who bought the 50-millionth Toyota in the US got a free Camry and RAV4, but whoever in the world bought the 40-millionth Corolla in August gets a hearty "thank you" from the Japanese automaker. On sale since 1966, the Corolla is the best-selling nameplate in the world by a goodly margin (more than the Volkswagen Beetle and Ford Model T combined). So while you'd think that vehicle number 40 million would be sitting in a museum somewhere, Toyota can't even say in which country this milestone Corolla was sold, let alone to which customer.
One reason that Toyota is unsure where this Corolla was sold is the fact that the Corolla name itself is more than just the compact sedan sold in the US. On our shores alone, sales of the Matrix are lumped in with the Corolla, but around the world, numerous vehicles wear the Corolla name or share its platform. Scroll down for Toyota's press release, and it has also put together a website celebrating 47 years and 40 million sales for the Corolla... and counting.
