I'm the second owner of this 2010 Toyota Prius. It's in good condition with about 78,000 miles. I bought it from the original owner (a doctor). I've driven this on quite a few long trips. It drives great, gets amazing gas mileage, and is EXTREMELY reliable. I've never had an issue. My local Toyota dealership did a free test on the battery and found it to be in excellent condition with minimal degradation. They told they only replaced 2 batteries on the 3rd generation Prius. Both batteries had more than 200,000 miles.
FEATURES: Features include: Gray leather seats, bluetooth, power windows/locks, upgraded JBL stereo system, cruise, XM satellite radio. It has the push button start with smart key. You can keep your key in your pocket or purse. Awesome feature. CONDITION: It has wear and tear typical of a car of its age and mileage. It has some dings, dents, and scratches. It looks great though and still shines like a new car. No accidents! There is a small, repaired hole in the driver's seat base (caused by a small key attached to a belt loop). OEM leather was placed between the hole and cushion. CONFESSIONS FROM A FORMER PRIUS HATER: I used to get stuck behind Priuses no matter where I went. I used to curse the name. However, my wife and I rented one during a vacation and we loved it. So, I bought a used one to be my wife's car. I'm now sold on the Prius. These are the reasons:
PAYMENT: Payment is via certified check or cash only. I have the title clear in my name. The price is very good. It is LESS than dealer auction prices! You can probably find one with a lower price, but buyer beware - be very cautious of the prior rental Priuses and those with salvage or rebuilt titles. |

How Charlotte lost to Plano without even knowing it was dealing with Toyota
Thu, 08 May 2014With Toyota set to relocate its North American headquarters to the Dallas, TX suburb of Plano following a top-secret, 100-city search, the cities that missed out can now begin asking themselves what happened during a process they apparently knew little about.
That's a particularly brutal task for Charlotte, which, according to North Carolina's Secretary of Commerce, Sharon Decker, finished second to Plano. While Toyota has been fairly open about what it was looking for in a new headquarters city - direct flights to Japan, proximity to its US production facilities, a lower cost of living, high-quality educational facilities and finding a neutral site suitable to the California, Kentucky and New York-based employees that would be relocated - it's been less open about how the finalist cities, which also included Atlanta and Denver, stacked up against each other.
The Charlotte Observer has a few ideas. Part of the problem is the distinct lack of direct flights between Charlotte and Asia. US Airways, which operates a hub at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, doesn't fly to Asia.
Toyota discontinuing FJ Cruiser after 2014 model year
Tue, 20 Aug 2013The Toyota FJ Cruiser is not long for this world. According to the manufacturer's own fleet website, the rugged FJ will be discontinued after the 2014 model year, with the companies final orders due in June of next year.
Toyota first launched the FJ Cruiser in 2006 as a 2007 model, and aside from minor year-over-year changes, it has not been substantially updated. The FJ is the modern successor to the original FJ40 Land Cruiser that Toyota produced from the 1960s all the way up through 1984, when the automaker decided to better focus on its larger, four-door Land Cruiser line. Currently, it uses a 4.0-liter V6 engine with either rear- or four-wheel drive, and is available with either a five-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. Interestingly, word of the FJ's demise comes not long after Toyota's US boss, Bill Fay, reaffirmed his company's commitment to body-on-frame trucks in late July.
Also of interest, Toyota's fleet website states that the 2014 model year Prius range will have "minor updates," though it's unclear what those are as of this writing. When Autoblog reached out to confirm these developments with Toyota, spokesman Curt McCallister reminded us, "As is our corporate policy, we don't discuss future products beyond the present or upcoming model year."
Toyota nearing $1B settlement of unintended acceleration criminal probe
Sun, 09 Feb 2014According to those all-too-nebulous "people familiar with the matter," Toyota is close to a settlement with the US federal government to end a criminal probe over its long-running unintended acceleration fiasco. Though Toyota has never admitted guilt, the deal could reportedly crest a billion dollars and would likely include a criminal deferred prosecution agreement, and while we're not legal experts, The Wall Street Journal explains that such a deal would "[force Toyota] to accept responsibility while avoiding the potentially crippling consequences of federal criminal convictions."
The report from WSJ also suggests that Toyota is facing charges that it "made false or incomplete disclosures" to various government agencies regarding possible defects to its cars. Such charges may include mail and wire fraud violations. Toyota has already paid out fines totaling $66.2 million to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration because it failed to report safety defects in a timely manner.
This deal with the federal government is not related to the billion-dollar class-action settlement reached with Toyota owners over falling vehicle values, and it's also different from the roughly 400 lawsuits still in courts alleging personal injury of wrongful death due to cases of unintended acceleration. In other words, don't expect to hear the end of such courtroom verdicts and settlements anytime soon...
