2008 Toyota Prius - Great College Or First Car; Very Reliable; Hwy Miles; 47+mpg on 2040-cars

Terrific One-Owner Car! Here's the scoop...bought this car new in 2008 from Kenny Kent Toyota in Evansville, IN for my daily commute to work which up until a couple months ago consisted of about 40 miles one way to work. MPG's are excellent and car is mechanically sound; well serviced at area Toyota dealerships. Selling only because my drive is now only 2 miles to work. Non-smoking. Garage kept. Thank you for considering my Prius. Other than the events out of my control, I have never so much as curbed the car, and treated it very well. Let me know if interested or any questions you might have. Damage repaired on the car consists of a new hood (had slight wrinkle), front bumper cover and one headlamp (cracked mounts) from the juvenile deer hit; and rear bumper cover, energy absorption materials, emblems, tailgate shell and one taillamp from the straight away rear ending. No damage to the frame, rear quarters or glass (which was reused for the hatch). Again, still a great, solid car in great mechanical shape. Dealership indicated after the rear hit that the car did not even register being hit, and the car was not disabled in any way...could even still open and close the hatch (see pic 24 for the before repair). Local pickup only - Owensboro, KY 42301. Cashier's Check or Cash. Currently a lien on the title, so will get a letter of release to accompany the title that I do have in hand (clean title - one owner). Pictures taken morning of Sep 10. You will note a little bit of morning dew and need for interior wipe down and time to wash exterior. I apologize not all cleaned up in the pics, but will make allowance for a complete detail by refunding the $250 deposit received at close of auction and successful sale with cleared payment...a win-win. Also have both original keys - one is brand new never used. 80k rated tires put on at 130k miles, so lots of tread left. Dealership tells me brakes are also really great shape, since mostly highway driving. All service performed as recommended. Ready to go! REDUCED TO $7,700 OBO!!! Popular Science magazine's Best Of What's New 2012 all ate up with cars

The automotive category did not go wanting for lauded advancements:

Hi-po Toyota GT86 to get KERS?
Fri, 09 Nov 2012We happen to like the Toyota GT86 - and, it of course goes without saying that the same applies to the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S, as well - just the way it is. Yes, that includes the standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine and its 200 horsepower at 7,000 rpm.
That said, a little extra power never hurt anybody, right?
The most obvious way to add some punch to the GT86 would be with a turbocharger, and that has indeed long been rumored for an STI version of the BRZ. Will Toyota follow suit? According to Top Gear, the answer is no. Says GT86 chief engineer Tetsuya Tada, "I think 300bhp with a turbo and 200g/km of CO2 would be tasteless in this day and age. And a turbo would mean the loss of the GT86's uniqueness." Perhaps a bit harsh, but there you go.
North American production of foreign marques to jump in 2014
Sun, 23 Dec 2012Wards Auto has released its North American Light Vehicle Production Forecast for 2014, and the report predicts foreign manufacturers will increase production on the continent some 3.9 percent by 2014. If accurate, that should see 123,000 additional cars, trucks and vans produced in North America, swelling the total number of units produced both by domestic and foreign manufacturers to 16.9 million light vehicles from a projected 15.6 million in 2013. Much of the increase can be attributed to the fact that Toyota intends to produce another car at its Blue Springs, MS plant as well as a new Lexus model at its Georgetown, KY facility in a year's time.
Likewise, Volkswagen intends to move production of a currently imported model to its plant in Puebla, Mexico. Daimler, Honda, Nissan and Mazda also plan to build additional models on North American soil for the first time. Around two-thirds of the new North American manufacturing will take place in Mexico, helping the country soak up a full 20 percent of the content's automotive production for the first time.
