Fully loaded and equipped with t-tops, air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, 4 wheel power disk brakes, 4 wheel independent suspension, rear defrost, selectable dual mode ETC automatic transmission, fuel grade selector, and am/fm cd radio (comes with original radio as well), custom autosound speakers behind seats. Paint is nice and shiny but not perfect, no dents in body, interior is in good shape, underbody is excellent, has good oil pressure and does not burn oil. Drives and brakes straight with no pulling or pulsating and the steering is still tight. Had full professional service performed in 2013 including all 4 struts replaced, new timing belt, new water pump, new tensioner, alignment, new tires, new battery, new muffler, rebuilt alternator-have all receipts. This car is light, fun to drive, very quick and handles great. I use it as my daily summer commuter and average 32.7 mpg with 75% hwy 25% city. This is not a show car but a very nice driver. Toyota Auris Touring Sports is a handsome Prius V alternative [w/videos]
Wed, 06 Mar 2013The Toyota Prius V has a lot to recommend it, but adventurous and sporty styling is not in its repertoire. That's why this new Auris Touring Sports has our attention. Claimed to be the "first full hybrid estate car" in the compact class, this two-box Auris has genuine visual panache to go with its load-lugging capability and parsimonious fuel economy. In the metal, we think its v-shaped grille and headlamp treatment acquits itself better than it does on the new RAV4, a model that shares its new design language.
Built by Toyota UK, the Auris Touring Sports hybrid is powered by a familiar-sounding 1.8-liter gas engine paired with an electric motor, with total system output quoted at 134 horsepower. The model will also be available in a variety of gas or diesel trims if you prefer your vehicle sans electrification (a non-hybrid model is shown). 2014 Toyota Tundra appears with revised styling, same mechanicals
Thu, 07 Feb 2013Toyota has pulled the curtain back on its 2014 Tundra, showing a truck that has gotten its most significant refresh since its launch as a 2007 model. For better or worse, however, the changes that Toyota has made to the fullsize pickup are mostly cosmetic, with the underpinnings of the vehicle staying unchanged.
The most obvious revision for 2014 is to the bluff front fascia of the truck. There's a new, taller squared-off grille decorating the Tundra's nose, along with a revised, three-part front bumper design. The optional black grille-frame strikes us as an acquired taste, to say the least, but other models, like the Limited above, is all clad in chrome. Fenders and wheel wells are more square than in the out-going truck, too. Perhaps most significant is the revised bed design, which Toyota calls "all-new," with new sheet metal on the sides, a revised tailgate and a very subtle integrated spoiler.
Inside, Toyota has given buyers some new seats and a new-look instrument panel. A backup camera (always handy on big trucks) is now standard equipment on all grades, as is Bluetooth connectivity. Blind spot monitoring is a new, optional feature as well. In all, as with the exterior mods, the changes in-cabin are far more evolutionary than revolutionary.
Toyota sells six of 10 of hybrids in California
Wed, 31 Jul 2013In an apparent shot back at Ford's increasing market share of electrified vehicles and claim that it accepts more Prius trade-ins for its own hybrids than any other car, Toyota has flexed a muscle and played the numbers game to put the Blue Oval in its place.
Leaning on its hybrid market dominance in California, the Japanese automaker stated that six out of 10 hybrids sold in the Golden State are Toyota models. And it keeps coming: Year-to-date through May 2013, Toyota sold five times more hybrids than Ford. One of every two hybrids in California is a Prius model. In addition, Toyota notes that it has sold 1.5 million Prius vehicles in the US, 90-percent of which are still on the road today.
