1987 Toyota mr2, this is a no reserve auction for a rust free project car. I bought this mr2 in Orlando Fl. in 2004 and drove it home, drove it for two summers before trans started popping out of 5th gear. parked it for the winter in fall of 05. and never touched it again. it ran and drove excellent at the time (if you don't mind a high strung 4 speed) so it's going to need some love and tlc to get it back on the road just from sitting all these years. my dream was to put in a supercharged motor from an 88 or 89, but never happened. the body is rust free. the only issue is the left rear quarter behind wheel does have a little bondo popping thru the paint. see pictures, was probably a minor dent at one time. wasn't noticeable the first few years. but a few years of cold weather has cracked the paint.. otherwise the rest of the car is perfect. no dents or rust. not even door dings. both doors close nice. this car has manual roll up windows. appears to be all original glass with no cracks or fogging. front has a nice bra with mr2 logo on it. I think it would clean up nicely. the a/c did work. all gauges worked, the inside is very nice. no cracks or fade on dash. the seats are clean with no rips or holes, door panels also nice. the steering wheel is perfect. the outside trim around rear window is missing or broken, but I have a set that will go with the car. I also have the cool clear plastic piece that goes at top of rear window not sure what you call it says toyota and reflects off the glass. lights went up and down as they should. everything worked other than the 5th gear pop out. does have a detachable face stereo using stock speakers. once again I have not attempted to start it in 8 years nor do I want to mess with trying to start it. car has been outside under a cover all this time. you will need to trailer it. clear Mn. title in my name. no reserve auction, will not end early, no 0 feed back bidders please. Paypal only for deposit and balance. contact me thru ebay for questions
thanks for looking |

Toyota C-HR Concept is a high-riding hybrid hatch [w/video]
Thu, 02 Oct 2014Despite having the tendency to offer decidedly bland production cars, Toyota occasionally surprises us with interesting concept cars. Such is the case with the C-HR concept making its debut at the Paris Motor Show this week. It's a concept showing forward-thinking design that hints at "a type of crossover vehicle Toyota would like to bring to market," according to the automaker's release, and it rides on an all-new platform and uses a hybrid powertrain.
About that powertrain: Toyota isn't revealing anything, just saying that it will - brace yourselves - "deliver significantly improved fuel efficiency" (over what, exactly?) The car also uses a brand-new architecture, though it hasn't really revealed any major details about that aspect, either.
It's a high-riding, muscular thing, with a rakish hatchback shape. Should it reach production, Toyota says it would take the shape of a C-segment crossover. It'd be cool to see something like this hit the road someday, but for now, we won't hold our breath.
Subaru to stop building Camry for Toyota in the US
Fri, 09 May 2014It was back in 2007 that Subaru of Indiana Automotive, under contract from Subaru minority shareholder Toyota, built the first Toyota Camry at its plant in Lafayette, Indiana. Rumblings of the end of that contract work have been around for a while, as Subaru talked of expanding capacity to build more units and add a line for the Impreza, and Toyota talked of moving Camry production to its Georgetown, KY plant. The news was official internally last November when SIA Executive Vice President Tom Easterday told the Louisville Courier-Journal that Camry production would end. Now, Automotive News reports that both automakers have admitted publicly that the end will come in 2016.
SIA currently has a 170,000-unit capacity devoted to the home-brand Legacy and Outback models, while a $400-million expansion increases that to 300,000 units to prepare the facility for Impreza production in two years. Freeing up the 100,000 units of production devoted to the Camry means a 400,000-unit capability, which is far more than Subaru needs at the moment, but the Toyota exit will allow it to expand any way it sees fit. Subaru has said it will absorb the workers on the Camry line and no jobs will be lost, the mayor of Lafayette saying the development could change the timetable for the expansion.
Report: Daihatsu leaving European market
Sun, 16 Jan 2011More than any other, two carmaking giants sit at the top of the industry: Toyota and General Motors. But while GM sells under a (shrinking but still) expansive range of brands, the Toyota Motor Corporation sells most of its vehicles under its own name. That doesn't mean that Toyota, however, doesn't have its own portfolio of subsidiaries. Here in the United States we have the youth-oriented Scion division, while Lexus handles its upscale offerings, and overseas there's Daihatsu.
The budget brand offers a range of small cars under its own name; most are hatchbacks, but there's also the Copen roadster and even a rebadged Camry called the Altis. You may have come across some of their offerings while traveling overseas, particularly in Europe, but that last part is about to come to an end, according to reports.
Word from across the pond is that Toyota plans to withdraw Daihatsu from the European market altogether. The move would reportedly take effect in 2013, and if it comes to pass, would follow similar withdrawals from the North American (1992) and Australian (2006) markets. Thanks for the tip, William!
