Reserve Lowered! 1970 Toyota Fj40 Landcruiser 70 Fj 40 V8 Conversion Clean on 2040-cars

Relisted with lowered reserve! 1970 FJ40 LANDCRUISER with an older Chevrolet 305 V8 conversion and 3 speed manual on the column. Rides, drives and stops like an original FJ40. Older paint job and typical rust areas, above rear bumper and rocker panels, were repaired but are starting to expose themselves again as shown in the pictures. Body is overall straight and floor plans and inner fenders are solid as well as the frame. Working heavy duty Ramsey winch.

Interior is clean, but apparently there was a sale on red velour which was used to cover the front seat - not that pretty, but in good shape. Rear jump seats are in black vinyl. Wipers work, rear heater works but the front heater isn't working and I haven't checked it out - maybe just a short. Turn signal lever is broke but brake lights and headlights work fine. Tow bar included.

I have driven this vehicle quite a bit with no problems. Tires are older and showing their age and although the engine runs smooth it is probably due for a tune up and new exhaust. Lower spare tire hinge has been repaired from what appears to a previous break. Although this is one of the cleaner unrestored FJs that I have seen in a while, please keep in mind that this vehicle is over 40 years old so if you don't know much about them please understand that they drive, shift, ride and handle much differently than newer SUVs. However, this thing is a blast to drive and gets lots of looks.

Please look at the pictures and ask any questions that you might have and I'll do my best to answer them. Sorry the pics are sideways - they were loaded from my phone. Thanks for looking!

Ford F-150 bumps Camry from top of Cars.com American Made Index

Tue, 25 Jun 2013

With July 4th just around the corner, what better time could there be for Cars.com to announce that the Ford F-150 is the Most American car of 2013? This may be especially true since it was the Toyota Camry, a car produced by a company based in Japan, that had held the top spot from 2009 to 2012.
Cars.com compiles its Most American list by considering the amount of parts each vehicle uses that come from America, where it's final assembly takes place and how many units per year are sold. "While the assembly point and domestic parts content of the F-150 didn't change from 2012-2013, vehicle sales are responsible for bumping the F-150 to the top spot," according to Patrick Olsen, Editor-in-Chief of Cars.com.
As far as automakers go (as opposed to individual models), Toyota retains the top spot it held in 2012, with General Motors, Chrysler, Ford and Honda (in that order) rounding out the list. The motivation behind this list each year, according to Olsen, is "to help car shoppers understand that 'American-Made' extends beyond just the Detroit three" and because "a study we conducted in 2012 indicated that 25 percent of shoppers surveyed preferred to buy American."

Watch this cement truck roll into Toyota minivan from driver's point of view

Thu, 10 Apr 2014

If you've been having an easy day and haven't received your daily dose of unmitigated terror, then this video is for you. Dr. Guan Zhu, a Texas A&M professor, caught the above view on his dashcam in College Station, TX, as a cement truck ran a red light, lost control and rolled into his Toyota Sienna minivan.
Although he received only minor injuries, Dr. Zhu says that he blacked out during the accident. The truck driver also avoided serious injuries, and the Sienna took the hit rather well too. Scroll down to watch the footage and report from KBTX. Hopefully, this is as close anyone else ever gets to a terrifying event of this nature.
