NO RESERVE...I am sure sad to see this one go... It is my very much loved, very well taken care of, babied, I could go on and on Land Cruiser. I am about to update my collection with a FJ40 and I am super excited to be getting that for a mid thirties bday gift from the wifey. Okay so down to brass taxes, this truck is the 40th ed. That really means it came in one of two colors, either antique sage pearl or emerald green. It also has the badges powder coated in a black pearl. It also was the only year and style to have the two tone seats, and production number badges on the center console. As I was say this is one of those very limited and very rare versions. It is #2322. I have recently replaced the radiator and timing chain. the radiator is one of the the three chamber ones for light off road use. I really never did any off road driving but always liked to think I could in this truck. I also have put a set of Michelin tires on it around 6500 miles ago. These tires ride fantastic, and get somewhere around 40k of use before needing to be replaced. This truck currently needs nothing I can think of except someone to enjoy it as much as I have. It is equipped with the factory tow package and the factory roof rack. This truck is used and has been used for a lot of things, so therefore it is not perfect. There are a few dings and scratches on the exterior. Some of the wood grain has some fade in it. the carpet might have some imperfections, however, it is almost twenty years old. It runs like a top. Everything, and I mean everything is 100% original. This is a completely rust free truck. It has lived its life in Tn, It has the third row. It has everything you would want in one of these. It also has the pedigree of Toyota, and the Land Cruiser badge too. I am available to answer any questions within reasonable hours. I have owned a couple of these trucks so I have a little amount of knowledge about them. My name is Chris, 423.313.4825. Feel free to call. I am not selling this locally at this point, I thought I would give ebay a go first. I know many of you guys are as serious about these truck as I am. All windows, radio, sunroof, and everything else is in working order. The power antenna is not. This is a common issue. It has never bothered me. I am going to do the whole auction thing, NO RESERVE, so with that being the case it will be as-is. It has no issues, so feel confident in buying. Thanks for the interest. I will need a $1000. deposit within 48 hours of auction close. Please do not bid if you do not intend to buy. I will delete bids if you have no history.

What's in a trademark? Sometimes, the next iconic car name

Thu, 07 Aug 2014

The United States Patent and Trademark Office is a treasure trove for auto enthusiasts, especially those who double as conspiracy theorists.
Why has Toyota applied to trademark "Supra," the name of one of its legendary sports cars, even though it hasn't sold one in the United States in 16 years? Why would General Motors continue to register "Chevelle" long after one of the most famous American muscle cars hit the end of the road? And what could Chrysler possibly do with the rights to "313," the area code for Detroit?

Toyota sells off Tesla shares, too

Fri, 24 Oct 2014

The incredible rise of Tesla's stock price has done little to now stop two major shareholders from ditching their stake in the American EV manufacturer. First, Daimler, parent company of Mercedes-Benz, ditched its four-percent stake, and less than a week later, Toyota is doing the same thing, selling off an undisclosed bit of its Tesla investment.
The move comes as Toyota winds down sales of the RAV4 EV, which gets its batteries and electric motor from Tesla at the company's Fremont, CA factory.
"We have a good relationship with Tesla, and will evaluate the feasibility of working together on future projects," Toyota spokesperson Kayo Doi told Bloomberg via email.

Toyota fears supplier pressure in Australia with GM pull out

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

With Ford and General Motors both announcing an end to production in Australia, the country's auto industry is in a bad way. With the exit of two big players, there's increased concern that a third Australian manufacturer, Toyota, will be forced out, as well.
"We are saddened to learn of GM Holden's decision. This will place unprecedented pressure on the local supplier network and our ability to build cars in Australia," Toyota Australia said in a statement. The GM closure of Holden production will be the direct end to 2,900 jobs, but will also force a dramatic reduction in the size of the country's supplier network, as there will simply be fewer cars to build.
In the same statement, Toyota Australia said it would work with suppliers and local government to figure out whether continuing production Down Under was even feasible. According to Automotive News, a representative for the Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union told reporters it was "highly likely" that Toyota would also close up shop within the next few years.
