1982 Toyota Landcruiser Fj40 on 2040-cars
Denver, North Carolina, United States
This is an extremely clean/rust free 1982 FJ40. I bought the truck about 14 years ago. The truck was in good shape except that the tub was rusted. About 8 years ago I did a frame off restoration and replaced the tub with an Aqualu aluminum tub - problem solved - forever. While I was at it I replaced the hood with a new Toyota hood and coated the already rust free frame with Por-15. The truck was repainted to the original Freeborn Red. The engine has 119K and runs perfectly and is all original. There is a slight oil leak (rear main) but all 2F seem to have this. The interior is all original and in great shape. I had the driver seat bottom professional reupholstered. The original front floor mat was trimmed on the Tran hump (stupid Prev owner) to accommodate a radio which has been removed. I replaced the previous owners non factory wheels with Chrome FJ60 wheels. The truck has 5 brand new Michelin 31''s I am selling the FJ40 because I just don't use it. This is a truck that you can drive right away. I always get great comments when I do drive it. Look at the pictures - it's in great shape. 2013 Toyota RAV4 earns 'poor' rating in IIHS small overlap crash test [w/video]
Thu, 11 Jul 2013When the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tested a batch of SUVs in its small overlap frontal crash test earlier this year, it held off on putting the Toyota RAV4 in the blender because the new, 2013 model was due to arrive shortly after the test. The new crossover might be better than it was before, but it could still only manage a rating of "Poor" in the test that has been a bugbear for a number of manufacturers.
Among other issues, the IIHS noted that the steering column moved seven inches to the right causing the crash test dummy to practically miss the airbag, the dummy's left foot was trapped in deformed sheetmetal and the dummy's head hit the instrument panel.
The 2013 RAV4 earned the Top Safety Pick rating by scoring well in the Institute's four other tests. A good score in this particular test would have earned it the Top Safety Pick+ rating that is so far only claimed by the 2014 Subaru Forester and 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport in the SUV category. There's a press release below with more details and a video of the test.
Toyota produces millionth truck in Texas
Thu, 19 Sep 2013After going online in 2006, Toyota's San Antonio, Texas truck plant has just built its one-millionth vehicle, the 2014 Tundra 1794 Edition you see above. The plant originally focused on just the Tundra pickup, but the smaller Tacoma started rolling off the line there in 2010, as well.
Fittingly, the 1794 Edition (a new premium trim level for 2014) pays homage to the property on which the Toyota plant now resides - a ranch that was founded in 1794. Scroll down for the official press release for the plant's milestone, and be sure to check out the full gallery of Tundra 1794 Edition images as well.
2015 Toyota Yaris to start at $14,845* and look like this
Thu, 24 Jul 2014Toyota released a new Yaris in Europe and its Vitz clone in Japan a few months ago, so we knew it would only be a matter of time before it would launch the new hatchback here in North America. And that time has come.
The new, more distinctive 2015 Yaris features far more aggressive exterior styling, a look set apart by that large lower air dam and X-motif front end. It rides on a retuned suspension hooked up to an altogether more rigid chassis, and Toyota promises it will ride more quietly and comfortably than the model it replaces. Inside the new model has additional soft-touch materials in a more comfortable cabin equipped with everything from a 6.1-inch touchscreen display to nine airbags.
The 2015 Yaris comes in both three- and five-door bodystyles, and three trim levels that seek to eliminate the need for options packages. In fact the only option to speak of is a dealer-installed nav system. Power comes from a modest 1.5-liter four with variable valve timing, dual overhead cams and sixteen valves, sending 106 horsepower and 103 pound-feet of torque through either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.
