HE TOLD ME ALL IT NEEDS TO FINISH IS A DASH BOARD AND THE 2 VENTS THAT GO OVER THE DASH BOARD. THIS FJ40 HAS BEEN SPOILED IN ITS RESTORATION. THE OWNER SPARED NO EXPENSE, MAKING SURE ALL REPLACED PARTS WERE ORIGINAL OR CORRECT NEW REPLACEMENTS. HE EVEN HAD SOME OF THE TRIM CHROMED AT A LOCAL SHOP. IT WAS PRETTY MUCH COMPLETELY GONE THROUGH OVER THE LAST 5 YEARS. TOP TO BOTTOM, FRONT TO REAR. I THINK I WILL JUST ALLOW THE PICTURES TO SPEAK FOR THIS FINE VEHICLE. THE PICTURES WERE TAKEN DURING A MORNING OVERCAST. THE MUSTARD YELLOW FINISH IS IMPECABLE! THERE IS ALSO A PHOTO OF A FEW PHOTOS TAKEN DURING RESTORATION PROCESS. AMAZING DETAIL! ADDED POWER STEERING AND AN ALUMINUM RADIATOR JUST TO NAME A COUPLE OF THINGS. COMES WITH THE PICTURED 12,000 lb. WINCH WITH REMOTE (NEW). I AM TOLD THAT THIS YEAR, 1982, IS A RARE AND VALUABLE MODEL AND THAT ONLY 300 CAME INTO THE USA THAT YEAR. THIS WAS A LABOR OF LOVE. THE OWNER ONLY TAKES IT FOR SHORT DRIVES ONCE IN A WHILE. Toyota recalling 10k vehicles to fix wiper switches
Fri, 11 Oct 2013Toyota has announced a voluntary recall covering approximately 10,000 cars in the United States. Affected models include the 2013-14 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2013-14 Avalon and Avalon Hybrid, and the brand new 2014 Corolla.
The problem, as Toyota explains it, is that, "During manufacture of the wiper switch assembly in the involved vehicles, certain contacts on the switch terminal could have been manufactured incorrectly." This could lead to a short in the circuit when the wiper switch is moved between "off" and "mist," and thus, cause the windshield wipers to stop working. Not good.
Toyota will contact owners via first class mail, and the vehicles can be repaired at dealerships, free of charge. Have a look below for the automaker's official statement.
Toyota Prius owners targeted by tire-slashing VA vandal
Wed, 24 Jul 2013Toyota Prius owners aren't bad folks. With a few exceptions, they're just normal people that appreciate the comfortable, high-mileage hybrid. Someone in Arlington, Virginia doesn't see it that way, though, as 14 examples (and one Smart) had at least one tire slashed last Sunday night.
The serial tire-slasher didn't any items from the vehicles, but he or she has left owners with substantial bills and sour dispositions. According to a report from ABC affiliate WJLA, some citizens are considering the matter a hate crime.
Despite the targeting of Toyota hybrids and the acquisition of one fingerprint, police have been unable to make any arrests, as the slasher has targeted vehicles across the county. Take a look at the local news report from WJLA below.
2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser Ultimate Edition
Thu, 10 Jul 2014Introduced at the end of 2006, this is the last year for the Toyota FJ Cruiser, the reincarnated FJ40-series Land Cruiser that will shortly journey to Takama-ga-hara, the Plain of High Heaven. In its first model year, we drove it to SEMA and found it, shall we say, coarse. It bobbled on the freeway and droned in the cabin, its boxy interior providing four bounce-boards for unpleasant frequencies. Tall mirrors helped one work around the eclipse of vision aft of the B-pillars, but navigating traffic required forethought and technique. Its turning circle was measured in kilometers. For the first two years of its life, it needed premium gas. It may have been fun to look at, but we couldn't wait to get out of it.
That's not the case anymore, and now the FJ Cruiser is poised to join a long list of vehicles that got better and better, then got axed.
