IF YOU ARE INTERESTED EMAIL ME AT: antonioalleeker@hairdressers.net . 1978 Toyota FJ 40 Land Cruiser
Awesome SUV in EXCEPTIONAL shape! Truly turns head wherever she goes! With bold Mustard Yellow paint
and clean lines, this beauty will definitely be a welcomed addition to your garage, collection or the perfect cure
for your mid-life crisis!
Spring-over axle. Beefier shackles suspension and 35/12.50/ORLT tires gives it approximately 10" of lift. This FJ
is one tall glass of water! Near PERFECT interior with stock front seats and rear jump seats. Truck has roll bar,
luggage rack, working front and rear heater, radio, front disc brakes, power steering, weld wheels and swing away
tire rack with spare tire. Roof is detachable (with some effort) for some topless Summer & Fall journey's.
Engine is the Toyota 2F G cylinder backed up with a 4 speed manual transmission. The truck was restored about 5 to
6 years ago to the best of my knowledge. It is covered in a rather unique metallic yellow paint that glitters in
the sun, which is the same hue as the original Toyota Mustard Yellow #532. My father and I bought the truck 2 years
ago and loved it, however I have since moved to NYC where this truck is not practical, so it is being sold. The
vehicle is currently in Maryland and has been garage kept since purchased. Odometer reads 98k, but unclear if those
are original miles.
The only real flaws in this FJ40 are a few bubbles in the paint at a few seams and very minor dings only noticeable
when viewing up close. She is nearly 40, so let's think about how many dings we have at 40! Fortunately, she's
seen a good surgeon. All around, this FJ40 is an incredibly FUN truck which gets attention at every corner! Would
love to see her go to someone who can enjoy as much as we have!
Truck is currently located in Howard County, Maryland and available to be viewed in person by appointment.
Please, NO TRADES! 100% not looking to trade for any vehicle, motorcycle, raccoon, wizard or acrobatic circus
animal. Only looking for a sale. Live in Manhattan and no matter how sexy your car is, I don't need another set of
wheels :)

Tesla now California's top automotive employer

Fri, 16 May 2014

Tesla has knocked off Toyota as the biggest auto employer in the state of California, employing over 6,000 people to the Japanese company's 5,300. That lead is only likely to grow, as the EV manufacturer prepares to add another 500 jobs by the end of the year, and as Toyota begins its relocation to its new North American headquarters in Texas. The news comes barely a week after the company announced a $50 million loss during the first quarter of 2014.
Tesla's statewide employment could be set to double, beyond even 6,500 people, if it follows through on rumors to construct its eagerly awaited gigafactory in the Golden State. The $5-billion venture could add another 6,500 employees, making Tesla not just the largest automotive employer in the state, but making it one of the largest employers in the state full stop.
The investment of Tesla and its founder (and real-life Tony Stark), Elon Musk, has been substantial. The company has added 3,000 employees in the state since 2013, reopening the Toyota and General Motors joint-venture factory that use to be known as NUMMI in 2009 and constructing a design studio in Los Angeles, all in addition to its Palo Alto headquarters.

Jim Lentz exposes more details behind Toyota's move to Texas

Fri, 02 May 2014

Toyota's North American CEO Jim Lentz has already given us a rough idea of what prompted the company's surprise move to the Dallas suburb of Plano, TX from its longstanding headquarters in Torrance, CA. A new story from The Los Angeles Times, though, delivers even more detail from Lentz on the reasoning for the move, what other cities were considered and why the company's current host city wasn't even in the running.
Of course, one of the more popular reasons being bandied about includes the $40 million Texas was set to give the company for the move, as well as the state's generous tax rates. According to Lentz, though, the reason Toyota chose Plano over a group of finalists made up of Atlanta, Charlotte and Denver, was far simpler than that - it was about consolidating its marketing, sales, engineering and production teams in a region that's closer to the company's seat of manufacturing in the south.
"It doesn't make sense to have oversight of manufacturing 2,000 miles away from where the cars were made," Lentz told The Times. "Geography is the reason not to have our headquarters in California."

Toyota Matrix not long for this world?

Thu, 18 Apr 2013

According to a report from AutoGuide, Toyota doesn't have plans to replace the aging Matrix hatchback in the United States after this year. If true, the timing coincides with the replacement for the Corolla, on which the Matrix is based, with that car slated to get its first complete redesign since 2006 (2008 in the US market).
We'd love to tell you how many Matrix models were sold by Toyota in the United States last year, but the automaker chooses to bundle Matrix sales with Corolla sales, so we have no idea. That said, we have to assume sales of the hatchback don't contribute much overall to the total number of Corolla-based machines.
We're also unsure if Toyota will choose to exit the youth-oriented compact hatchback market entirely, or if the automaker will rely instead on its hybrid Prius line and Scion models like the xB and xD.
