Up for auction is a 1971 fj40 Toyota land cruiser. Stock 6 cylinder engine rebuilt about 2500 miles ago, 3speed manual on floor. Originally was capri blue with tan canvas top and doors. Sometime in the past it was re-painted white and now has a later model Best-Top, (soft-top and doors). Jump seats are very nice condition and original. Front seats are later model and drivers needs recovered. Steering and breaks are good and tight. All lights, signals and wipers work great. It will need a heater if you plan to drive in cold areas. It also comes with the factory canvas doors (Pictured). Very solid, nearly original cruiser. Reliable for everyday driving. It's been in eastern WA. for most of its life. So rust is very minimal for a 42 year old cruiser. Has nice aluminum weld wheels, rapped in Toyo open country AT's with 70% tread. This is one of my personal collection of which I am thinning out. Toyota settles for $3M after being found liable in sudden acceleration case
Sat, 26 Oct 2013A jury has decided that faulty software was to blame for a crash involving a 2005 Toyota Camry that killed one woman and injured another. This is the first time Toyota has been found liable by a jury in a lawsuit involving sudden acceleration claims. Toyota has maintained that driver error is the most likely cause for cases of sudden acceleration.
Shortly after the jury in the case, which took place in Oklahoma and centered around a crash that injured 76-year-old Jean Bookout and killed her passenger, Barbara Schwarz, reached a verdict that would see Toyota paying $3 million in compensatory damages, a confidential settlement was reached. The jury, which had found Toyota liable for "reckless disregard" for public safety, had yet to decide what punitive damages Toyota would face.
Toyota said in a statement, "While we strongly disagree with the verdict, we are satisfied that the parties reached a mutually acceptable agreement to settle this case. We will continue to defend our products vigorously at trial in other legal venues."
2014 Toyota Aygo is so cross with itself
Mon, 03 Mar 2014It almost made it, but images of the redesigned Toyota Aygo have leaked ahead of its official debut at tomorrow's Geneva Motor Show. The new Aygo sports an aggressive look overall with a, um, mark on its face.
That distinguishing design feature aside, we quite like the angular headlights and muscular overall look of this little city car. The gaping trapezoidal air intake make the Aygo look more substantial, while swollen rear wheel arches hint at something sportier than your standard commuter device.
Sportiness, though, isn't likely to be a big part of the Aygo. As it's built on the same platform as the Citroën C1 and Peugeot 108, we should expect the same pair of gas-powered engines, which means at best, the Toyota will come to market with 82 horsepower under hood.
