1967 FJ40 Landcruiser 4X4 is not shiny, nor civilized....instead, built to be violent and rugged.  Has front and rear locking differentials, 3 speed manual transmission.  The engine is the famous aluminum head ZZ4 found in the Jegs catalog.  It has the loudest flowmasters available.  Transmission and transfer Case are original and recently rebuilt with all new bearings and seal.  Transfer Case is still vacuum operated, so is a bit cantankerous engaging 2 to 4 wheel drive, but does work.  It still has the original "one pump wonder" drum brakes (with new components) and is not vacuum assist.  Needless to say, the phrase "refined stopping features" do not apply.  They work fine, for what they are.  As outrageous as this truck looks, it actually drives fast and handles well.  You can steer with one hand, while cruising on the Interstate, although I don't recommend it.  The fold-down tow bar is functional and the optional skull, goes with it.  The speedo cable is bad, so the actual miles are not going to be correct.

Overall, being a vintage 1967, it does have rust and patch panels, here and there. It also has some pretty crude Bondo work on one fender and mostly a paint job from spray cans, so the point is: don't expect a cosmetic creampuff....at least you don't have to worry about door-dings at Walmart.

It has a true Skyjacker 4" lift suspension system and does not squeak or rattle.  Despite the cosmetics, it actually is a reliable road driver.  It is LOUD and CRAZY, so you do attract attention, when you drive it.  The clutch is also new, when the gearboxes were rebuilt.  The V8 is installed with the Advance Adaptors kit, for this. It is shown with the Bikini top, but will come with several top options, that include a full soft top, with doors, a windcurtain that fits behind the front seats (makes a "half-cab"...my personal favorite) and a set of soft, half-doors. Rear bench seat is removable and all seats do have seat belts.  The heater does work, as well and the roll cage is FULL.  The video is a low-resolution, walk around...I could not get the HQ version to load, so had to work with it.  The tires are 35 x 15's.  One is new, the other 3 have seen better days, but are serviceable.  I am listing this with no reserve, so high bidder gets it....go at it boys!!

Toyota unveils two new small displacement engines

Thu, 10 Apr 2014

Toyota introduced a pair of brand-new engines in Japan today, that it says will eventually spawn 14 different variants by 2015. Where these two engines stand out in today's world, is that neither mill boasts direct injection, and both are naturally aspirated.
The larger of the two is a 1.3-liter, while the smaller engine, a 1.0-liter, was developed in collaboration with Daihatsu. What makes these two unique is that they both use the Atkinson cycle. Now, we aren't going to bore you by explaining just what this is - there's Google for that. Suffice it to say, Atkinson engines are highly efficient, but that efficiency comes by sacrificing power. That's why they're so popular in hybrids, which can offset the power losses.
This focus on fuel efficiency extends throughout the new engines, which also benefit from tweaks like a cooled exhaust gas recirculation system and a trick intake port, while the 1.3 employs Toyota's iE variant of variable valve timing. Both engines can be fitted with stop-start tech. According to Toyota, when fitted with stop-start the 1.3 should provide around a 15-percent bump while the 1.0-liter will increase economy around 30 percent, when they arrive on the road.

Toyota ready to get dirty with new TRD Pro Series

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

To the general public, Toyota is often thought of as a maker of bland but dependable cars, crossovers and SUVs that get their owners and a whole herd of whatever from Point A to Point B. Generally speaking, they're fuel efficient, comfortable and affordable. What the general public may not realize, however, is that Toyota enjoys a very strong history of going off road, too. The legendary Land Cruiser arguably established the trend, helping explore remote parts of the globe, while various guerilla warfare outfits and world military branches have unwittingly joined up with the boys from Top Gear to help cement the Hilux pickup's reputation for invincible performance. Now, though, Toyota is launching a new line of trucks and SUVs in the US that are even more explicitly targeted at hitting the trails. Meet the TRD Pro Series.
Featuring the 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra, each Pro Series vehicle features TRD-tuned springs with Bilstein shocks, a TRD front skid plate, a TRD shifter, black wheels, branded floor mats and a "TOYOTA" grille badge, the latter of which harkens back to classic models. TRD Pro Series vehicles will be offered in the new Inferno paint color shown above, as well as Black and Super White.
The Tundra benefits from softer TRD springs that also provide a two-inch lift and a better ride in the rough, while the truck itself rides on 18-inch wheels with Michelin ORP tires. Each truck gains an extra two inches of wheel travel in front and 1.25 inches in back, while a TRD dual exhaust should generate a nicer sound than the trucks's standard V8 engine. Finally, a unique interior with red contrast stitching freshen up the cabin. We wouldn't go so far as to call this a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor fighter - far from it, in fact - but it's a bit more off-road oriented than your average pickup.
