1982 Toyota Corolla

1.8 Liter engine

Excellent condition, regularly maintained including rust prevention underneath.  This car was owned by a little old lady and then her daughter, (not much bigger) never beat for a day in its life.  Regular oil and lube changes forever....4 cylinder 1770cc engine very clean, needs tune up/timing. In the last three years  It has a new radiator, new hoses, new brakes,(very recent) a new ignition module, new headlights, and new tires.  Body is completely rust free and the underside was rust proofed regularly during its time in Illinois.  Super clean and completely functional.  Blue seats and blue rugs.  All original with AM/FM radio, rear window heater and wiper blade.  Rear seat folds down for cargo.

Nice little engine, gets 22mpg. Goes from 0-30 in 4 seconds!   Obviously not a high powered car but you will find it difficult to get a speeding ticket.   This has been a VERY conscientiously maintained vehicle for its entire lifetime.  lots of low end  torque not too  much on the high end. but...these 80's 1.8  toyota engines have been known to go up to 300,000 miles.

Right rear panel has a crease in it from just behind the rear wheel to the rear of car.  Left fender has a crease just above the tire area.  neither one shows any rust. Any exterior rust on the body has been sanded off, and treated, and resprayed.  There is a small section of noticeable bondo work on the bottom panel underneath passenger door. All pictures of these are included.  The only thing that doesn't work on the car is the exterior front passenger  door handle.  (The inside still works.)

Please feel free to call me to discuss your purchase at 360-582-9020.  While every effort is being made to describe the vehicle accurately, it is  in fact a 32 year old vehicle and being sold as is, without any warranty or guarantee expressed, written, or implied. Shipping is the full responsibility of the buyer. Payment must be made within 7 days via cash, or major bank cashier check.   Thank you for your interest.

Toyota TRD Pro Chase Trucks are ready to hit the desert at SEMA

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

Toyota marks the 35th anniversary of its Toyota Racing Development performance arm this year, and the division is celebrating at this year's SEMA Show with a quartet of tuned off-roaders based on on the 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra that look more than ready to go just about anywhere.
All four of them will take part in this year's Baja 1000 race, but only the Tundra (far left in the above photo) is actually competing. The other three will be there to act as support vehicles.
Inspired by the production TRD Pro Series trucks, the 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra are prepared by off-road fabricator N-Fab with a mix of TRD and the company's own parts to be able to take whatever the grueling, 1,000-mile can throw at them. The trio is fettled with extra communications equipment, GPS, additional lights and all sorts of body and suspension modifications to help them survive the ordeal.

Toyota nudges US sales projections up to 2.25M

Tue, 20 Aug 2013

Toyota has raised its expectations for 2013's US sales for the third time since the end of 2012. The new target rests at 2.25 million units, when sales of Toyota, Lexus and Scion are taken as one. Subtracting Lexus, Toyota is still expecting to move over two million vehicles in the US by the end of 2013.
According to a report from Automotive News, the sales expectations came from Bob Carter, senior VP of automotive operations for Toyota USA, during a dealers during a meeting in Atlanta. The heightened expectations go along with Toyota's predictions for the US market as a whole, which it expects to grow to 15.5 million units by the end of 2013.
Besides an overall, national uptick in new vehicle sales, Toyota is also expecting a big push as it puts the next-generation Corolla to market during the second half of this year, along with the Tundra pickup truck. Meanwhile, dealers were shown images of a refreshed Camry, set to arrive in 2015, and reported that it's "more than a nip and a tuck," according to the AN report.

Tesla now California's top automotive employer

Fri, 16 May 2014

Tesla has knocked off Toyota as the biggest auto employer in the state of California, employing over 6,000 people to the Japanese company's 5,300. That lead is only likely to grow, as the EV manufacturer prepares to add another 500 jobs by the end of the year, and as Toyota begins its relocation to its new North American headquarters in Texas. The news comes barely a week after the company announced a $50 million loss during the first quarter of 2014.
Tesla's statewide employment could be set to double, beyond even 6,500 people, if it follows through on rumors to construct its eagerly awaited gigafactory in the Golden State. The $5-billion venture could add another 6,500 employees, making Tesla not just the largest automotive employer in the state, but making it one of the largest employers in the state full stop.
The investment of Tesla and its founder (and real-life Tony Stark), Elon Musk, has been substantial. The company has added 3,000 employees in the state since 2013, reopening the Toyota and General Motors joint-venture factory that use to be known as NUMMI in 2009 and constructing a design studio in Los Angeles, all in addition to its Palo Alto headquarters.
