Selling my family's Celica GT-S. It's presently garaged in Canonsburg PA. This car does NOT run correctly. We believe the engine block at the water pump split when we tried to change out the pump this past December. We tried everything to get it to stop leaking even bought an expensive official Toyota water pump with no success. It would appear it needs a new block, or at least the cast-alumnium part of the block that the water pump connects to. We looked it up online and the part new from Toyota is about $150 but installing it would mean ripping apart the entire engine. At 200k+ miles, we just aren't interested in tackling that SO our loss is your gain! The car is being sold as-is for parts and/or repair. The clutch was replaced not too long ago and it shifts great, it has 4 brand new Artrezzo 205/50R16 tires with aftermarket black and chrome rims. We don't have the original rims as the car didn't come with them when we bought it in 2007.
As you will see from the pictures, the exterior is in marginal shape with many dents and dings, paint scratches, some rust etc. The interior is pretty clean except for the split in the driver's seat leather. Since this car can not drive on it's own, this auction will be for local pickup only. We will not be shipping the car, you must come pick it up in Canonsburg PA. It is outside and easily accessible for a tow truck or flatbed. Again, this is being sold AS-IS for parts or repair. Good luck! "Vanilla." Taken in modern context, that's not a compliment, but it should be. Vanilla actually has exotic origins, and as spices go, only saffron is more costly. Despite the realities, calling something "vanilla" is not whistling in admiration. The Toyota Camry has been called "vanilla" countless times since its debut, but both the car and the bean have something up their sleeves.
Scoff all you want, but vanilla is the most popular ice cream flavor, and there is no mainstream sedan that outsells the Camry. Apparently, vanilla has an underlying tinge of filthy lucre. We didn't feel rich, exactly, wheeling around in the Camry Hybrid, but we came away impressed, nonetheless.
Toyota recounts past Supra glories
Mon, 29 Jul 2013It could just be a slow start to the news week around the Toyota offices, but its UK blog has posted a brief history on its legendary Supra sports car. Read into however you'd like, but there has been plenty of speculation as to the return of the Supra nameplate in recent years (including last month from incoming Toyota chairman Takeshi Uchiyamada).
Built from April 1978 through July 2002, Toyota's sports coupe made quite a name for itself as both the Celica Supra (shown above) and the Supra, and the blog post charts many of the changes and highlights through the years. 2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb, Practice Day 3
Thu, 27 Jun 2013The third practice day of the 91st Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is done. While the other classes got running time on the middle and top sections of the course, qualifying times were set on the bottom section of the course for the Open, Open Wheel, Electric, Exhibition and Vintage classes.
Everyone managed to keep it on the black stuff today, Greg Tracy setting the fastest time ahead of Hiroshi Masuoka, both men driving the Mitsubishi MiEV Evolution II four-wheel-drive prototype. Not even half a second behind Masuoka came Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima in his Monster Sport E-Runner, who has taken about 18 seconds off his time since the first practice day. Rod Millen was the fourth fastest on the day in his Toyota TMG EV POO2.
Topping the Open Wheel class was Clint Vahsholtz, followed by Donner Billingsley, Andy Figueroa and Rodney O'Maley. The only driver in that class not to be given a time today was Dan Novembre. Kenshiro Gushi took the Exhibition class today as his Lexus IS F CCS-R made it up the mountain in 4:27.248, followed by Sage Marie in the Honda CR-Z at 5:19.591. Simon Pagenaud and his Honda Odyssey weren't classified.
