2000 Toyota Celica GT, White with 16" chrome rims, automatic, carbon fiber hood. 212,800 miles, I have been the owner since 65,000 miles, oil changed every 3-5000 miles...no leaks whatsoever. Doesn't visibly burn any oil or smoke out the exhaust, but it will go through about a quart every 3-4K miles between changes due to the age of the engine and the miles on it. Rims are pitted in places, and hood needs new clear coat. Some minor damage on the passenger front ground effects area behind wheel....door opens fine, but does rub. Fuel door fell off due to the usual rust issue on the hing, I still have it. dings and dents here and there, but nothing else major. Brand new tires put on the front today, rear tires are about 50% maybe. New battery 6 months ago, new plugs last week. Car has never been in the shop for anything other than routine maintenance (tires, brakes, ac charge, etc.) except when I broke something myself. A/C works, but seems to have a very slow leak possibly....could just be the summer heat/sun causing the issue since during dusk and at night it blows cold. Drivers seat has the usual tear on the left side, steering wheel could use a cover or replacement since the leather is mostly gone at the top. drivers side front rug is damaged from not using the mat in a while. Runs and drives fine, I've been driving it daily for 8 years, but I bought a newer car to replace it. Overall car is in fair condition body/interior wise, and I'd say good to very good mechanically for its mileage. I'm sure there is more good and bad things to report, but this about covers the important stuff....feel free to email any questions or call 1-561-596-9792. Toyota TRD Pro Chase Trucks are ready to hit the desert at SEMA
Wed, 05 Nov 2014Toyota marks the 35th anniversary of its Toyota Racing Development performance arm this year, and the division is celebrating at this year's SEMA Show with a quartet of tuned off-roaders based on on the 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra that look more than ready to go just about anywhere.
All four of them will take part in this year's Baja 1000 race, but only the Tundra (far left in the above photo) is actually competing. The other three will be there to act as support vehicles.
Inspired by the production TRD Pro Series trucks, the 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra are prepared by off-road fabricator N-Fab with a mix of TRD and the company's own parts to be able to take whatever the grueling, 1,000-mile can throw at them. The trio is fettled with extra communications equipment, GPS, additional lights and all sorts of body and suspension modifications to help them survive the ordeal.
Subaru to stop building Camry for Toyota in the US
Fri, 09 May 2014It was back in 2007 that Subaru of Indiana Automotive, under contract from Subaru minority shareholder Toyota, built the first Toyota Camry at its plant in Lafayette, Indiana. Rumblings of the end of that contract work have been around for a while, as Subaru talked of expanding capacity to build more units and add a line for the Impreza, and Toyota talked of moving Camry production to its Georgetown, KY plant. The news was official internally last November when SIA Executive Vice President Tom Easterday told the Louisville Courier-Journal that Camry production would end. Now, Automotive News reports that both automakers have admitted publicly that the end will come in 2016.
SIA currently has a 170,000-unit capacity devoted to the home-brand Legacy and Outback models, while a $400-million expansion increases that to 300,000 units to prepare the facility for Impreza production in two years. Freeing up the 100,000 units of production devoted to the Camry means a 400,000-unit capability, which is far more than Subaru needs at the moment, but the Toyota exit will allow it to expand any way it sees fit. Subaru has said it will absorb the workers on the Camry line and no jobs will be lost, the mayor of Lafayette saying the development could change the timetable for the expansion.
Toyota C-HR Concept is a high-riding hybrid hatch [w/video]
Thu, 02 Oct 2014Despite having the tendency to offer decidedly bland production cars, Toyota occasionally surprises us with interesting concept cars. Such is the case with the C-HR concept making its debut at the Paris Motor Show this week. It's a concept showing forward-thinking design that hints at "a type of crossover vehicle Toyota would like to bring to market," according to the automaker's release, and it rides on an all-new platform and uses a hybrid powertrain.
About that powertrain: Toyota isn't revealing anything, just saying that it will - brace yourselves - "deliver significantly improved fuel efficiency" (over what, exactly?) The car also uses a brand-new architecture, though it hasn't really revealed any major details about that aspect, either.
It's a high-riding, muscular thing, with a rakish hatchback shape. Should it reach production, Toyota says it would take the shape of a C-segment crossover. It'd be cool to see something like this hit the road someday, but for now, we won't hold our breath.
