1977 Toyota Celica Gt, Manual 5 Speed on 2040-cars
Azusa, California, United States
Up for auction is my 1977 Toyota Celica GT. It has 20R engine, manual 5 speed. It runs and drives, needs a few things. I decided to sell it because I can no longer afford it and I have another car that I want to fix. For the most part I only drove it on weekends and every time I did I always got asked about it. I am not the first owner and I’ve had it since 2010 with a clean title. In all this time I had it I have replaced the clutch, master cylinder, fuel pump, starter, catalitic converter and rebuilt the carburator. It still needs new shocks & struts and probably new bearings. There is rusting spots on the body as you can see on the photos, nothing that it can’t be fixed, the only major one is on the front corner of the rear quarter panel of the passanger side. It needs new interior as it is 36 years old. The steering wheel is cracked and ripped that’s why I put on a wheel cover.
The car is in pretty good conditions for 36 years old and runs good and like I said it just needs a few things to make it geat a great car, I just didn’t have the time, the space nor the money to make it happen. If you are looking for 77 Celica GT to fix it up, this is the car for you. Also, along with the car you will get most of the dash board parts including the dash cover and a steering wheel in color black that I took out myself from another Celica at the yard. Feel free to ask any questions that you may have. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the car becomes no longer available. NO INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS PLEASE THIS VEHICLE IS BEING AUCTIONED TO U.S. BUYERS ONLY. Terms of Sale: Vehicle being sold AS-IS. Please read and agree with the following: This vehicle is being sold AS-IS, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. I have described my Toyota Celica GT honestly and to the best of my ability, I have faith in the drivability of my car and to my knowledge everything is in good working order per my written description above. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others, any defects, damage or repairs after the release of this vehicle. Nor will I be held responsible for any inconsistencies or inaccurate statements made within the written description. Toyota issues stop sale on 6 key models over seat fabrics; recall possible? [UPDATE]
Thu, 30 Jan 2014Toyota has issued a stop-sale order on six of its core models due to concerns about the flammability of certain seat fabrics. The issue rests not with the cloth and leather covers themselves, but with a piece of seat heater beneath them that fails to meet US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards for flame retardancy.
There have been no reports of fires or injuries from the affected cars, which include some of Toyota's biggest volume sellers. 2013 and 2014 Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon and Sienna models equipped with heated seats are included in the stop-sale, as are 2014 Tundra pickups and Corolla sedans. The exact number of vehicles with the non-compliant materials are still being tabulated, according to The Detroit Free Press.
According to a Toyota spokesman, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been notified, although it remains to be seen if a recall will be issued. Outside of a full recall, though, it's unclear how Toyota will deal with vehicles equipped with the flammable materials that have already found homes.
Jay Leno goes offroading with the legendary Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart
Mon, 17 Nov 2014Jay Leno takes a step outside of his cavernous garage for this latest video for a jaunt into the desert to get a little dirty. He meets up with off-road racing legend Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart, who has multiple Baja 500 and 1000 wins in his motorsports career, to play with a Toyota Tundra in the sand.
Unfortunately, Leno doesn't get to interview Stewart too deeply about his long history in racing, but Ironman does talk a little bit about reading the trail while speeding through the desert. In lieu of a great conversation, there is a ton of high-quality footage of the Toyota bounding through the desert.
This clip feels more like a marketing effort than the usual output from Jay Leno's Garage, but it's still great to see Stewart behind the wheel sliding a truck, just like old times. The two of them even take the truck on a somewhat humorous journey at the end of the video.
Toyota reveals Tokyo Motor Show concepts
Mon, 04 Nov 2013Toyota is getting ready for the Tokyo Motor Show later this month, and to tease us, the Japanese automaker has released photos and information about the concept vehicles it'll be bringing to the show. In all, there'll be five world premieres from Toyota (six if you split the Voxy and Noah minivan concepts), including some vehicles that'll be released in the near future, and others that need more time to incubate.
Let's get the world premieres out first. Toyota is a pioneer of gasoline-electric hybrids, but it's also pursuing hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicles. The clearest indication of this is the FCV concept, a hydrogen-powered sedan in the same vein as the the FCV-R that will bow at the auto show. (Read more about the FCV, here.)
Other world debuts include the FV2 concept (pictured), a unique, one-seat future vehicle that emphasizes the "Fun to Drive" philosophy; the JPN TAXI concept, a next-generation taxi concept designed with Japanese hospitality in mind; and the Voxy and Noah concepts, next-generation minivans that differ most in exterior design cues and are scheduled to launch in the Japanese market in early 2014.
