This is without a doubt one of the finest 1950 Ford convertibles available today. This car has recently completed a frame off concourse restoration, about as close to original as one can get. It is powered by what is believed to be the original Flathead V-8 engine and Standard Overdrive transmission, both completely rebuilt, with only 7000 miles traveled since completion. All of the original motor parts have been saved if you would like to go back to the way it came. The exterior Matador Red finish is impeccable. Everything on this car has either been replaced or refurbished. The LaBaron Bonney interior and convertible top is off the charts gorgeous. The engine compartment and trunk area is like new, detailed to perfection. The overall alignment of this car is better than from the factory. Notice the detailed photos taken to show the glass, door and trim alignments. The underneath is nothing short of show ready. This car was built to be a Dearborn show car and comes with the paperwork where it has been judged. It took 1st place in the concourse restorations at the early Ford show in Charlotte a couple years ago. 2013 Suzuki SX4 gets new generation to carry on without us [w/video]
Wed, 06 Mar 2013Despite the fact that the coffin has been sealed on Suzuki's US automotive arm, the brand is carrying on elsewhere in the world. The first new product to spearhead the Japanese automaker's product offerings in Europe is this SX4 crossover, making its official debut here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. You may remember the little SX4 as the cheapest all-wheel-drive car on sale in the US, packing cute styling and efficient, affordable packaging. And it doesn't appear that the formula has changed too much for this new generation, despite what we think are less attractive new duds derived from Suzuki's 2012 S Cross Concept.
The new SX4 is powered by a choice of two 1.6-liter engines - one diesel, one petrol - the former mated to a six-speed manual transmission while the latter uses a CVT with a "seven-speed manual mode" operated by steering wheel-mounted paddles. All-wheel drive remains intact on the SX4, now with four driver-selectable modes and the Allgrip name.
Suzuki is touting the SX4 as having the world's first double sliding glass sunroof, offering "the largest opening areas" in the segment. Overall, the updated interior looks nicely designed and quite functional, though not exactly a shining beacon of refinement.
Court approves Suzuki bankruptcy plan
Fri, 05 Apr 2013Suzuki has won approval for its Chapter 11 plan to stop selling cars in the US and concentrate instead on the company's powersports products. Judge Scott C. Clarkson of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California approved the plan after the company's creditors agreed to the conditions.
Suzuki will now sell its motorcycle, ATV and marine divisions to the newly minted Suzuki Motor of America subsidiary under the Suzuki name. The new company will be wholly owned by Suzuki Motor Company. This is the final piece of the company's restructuring puzzle.
The company says it will now be able to grow its powersports businesses here in the US and also provide auto parts and service to current Suzuki owners through what's left of the company's dealer network. You can check out the brief press release on the bankruptcy plan below.
Suzuki iV-4 Concept is a personalized 'ute for everyone but US
Wed, 11 Sep 2013It's with some sadness that we present to you the Suzuki iV-4 Concept - there's absolutely no way we'll ever see a production Suzuki based off this conceptual design in the States, despite the fact that the brand has quite a small-SUV heritage on our shores. Of course, we won't be seeing any new Suzuki passenger cars or trucks in the US at all...
For the rest of the world, Suzuki's push with this concept is personalization. According to the automaker, the name is broken down as such: "i" stands for "individuality," "V" for "vehicle," and "4" for "4 wheel-drive." A tad convoluted, perhaps, but we'll roll with it.
As far as its styling, the iV4 doesn't break any new ground for Suzuki, recalling its past and current production models with details that include a clamshell hood and a five-slot grille. Suzuki promises a production variant of this concept, and the "individuality" part will be accomplished through a selection of exterior components, colors and textures, though we're not clear what exactly that means or how it will differ from the accepted practice of ordering a unique car through a dealership.
