This Samurai has a clean, current Iowa title and has been previously titled in Georgia. We have run a Carfax that shows this SUV has never been wrecked. This Samurai has never seen a salty road and is 100% rust free. It had no rust before the restoration. Restoration included: new white paint (look at it shine!), new front and rear bumpers and new bumper end caps, new front and rear light assemblies, new white spare tire cover, new (new style -1992-1995) grille with S emblem. One of our 100 horse, high performance engines was a major part of this restoration (this engine is our featured product on our website) with only a few break-in miles. Engine comes with a 1-year, unlimited mile warranty. This engine includes: new flat top 10:1 pistons, cylinders bored .50 mm, hi-po head with new intake and exhaust valves, 3 angle valve job, premium Victor valve seals, mid range cam shaft, new oil pump, new water pump, reground crankshaft with new main and rod bearings, new timing belt and timing belt cover, new electric choke Weber carburetor, new Pacesetter header with high flow exhaust all the way to the back, new high flow radiator, new motor mounts, rebuilt distributor (this engine package alone, goes for $5,000 at our shop). New battery. New heavy duty clutch. Rebuilt transmission with rebuilt shift lever. Rebuilt transfer case with rebuilt shift lever. New starter relay. New brakes. New wheel bearings. Emergency brake works perfectly. The front top of cab has a custom non-removable tin top roof. Rear section is a new Rally pickup style insulated top with sliding rear window. Suzuki made many upgrade improvements for the 1988.5 Samurai which include: new improved dash, steering wheel, more compliant leaf springs with teflon inserts, a larger outboard sway bar (making this much more stable) and lower and more usable 5th gear ratio. This Samurai originally came with air conditioning--the wiring switch and the evaporator are still intact...to make functional the hoses, compressor and condenser would have to be added back by the new owner. Suzuki demand in US rises after bankruptcy
Wed, 26 Dec 2012Following word that Suzuki is ceasing car sales in America, it appears that demand for the Japanese automaker's wares have increased. According to The Detroit News, American Suzuki Motor Corp. will import an additional 2,500 vehicles to quench demand that has jumped since the company announced that it was filing for bankruptcy and ending sales in America.
Dealers recently informed their sales personnel that no more vehicles would be produced and that this was the final push. With heavy incentives and a seven-year warranty as value-adds, November sales for Suzuki rose in November some 22 percent, up to 2,224 vehicles. December sales also rose, but neither month's gains outweigh the long-term losses for the automaker. While Suzuki will sell roughly 22,000 cars this year in the US, it was selling about 120,000 annually before 2008.
As it stands, Suzuki will sell off the rest of its vehicle inventory, including the 2,500 additional units, and dealers will continue to provide parts an warranty work. With all of this negative news for the automaker, it's impressive to see an interest in Suzuki vehicles even with the imminent shuttering of its North American car sales.
Suzuki recalling 200K crossovers over airbag woes
Mon, 16 Sep 2013Suzuki may not be selling any new cars in the US anymore, but there are still plenty of them on American roads. Nearly 200,000 of those will need to be taken off said roads - for a little while, at least.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for 2006-2011 Suzuki Grand Vitara SUVs and 2007-2011 SX4 crossovers due to a faulty airbag sensor. The issue apparently results from the front passenger-side floor mat causing the Occupant Classification System (OCS) sensor to malfunction over time, so whether there's a kid or an adult in the front seat, the airbag could deploy in the event of a crash.
As a result, Suzuki Motor of America is calling in 193,936 vehicles to replace the front passenger-seat cushion assembly. That's a whole lot of cars to recall, but it comes as no big surprise. Owners can expect to be notified in October. Full details in the recall announcement below.
Incentives aid smooth Suzuki wind down
Tue, 04 Dec 2012American Suzuki is continuing to offer buyers substantial incentives even as the company winds down operations. Those looking to nab a new Suzuki vehicle will find rebates of between $500 and $2,000 and zero-percent financing for up to 72 months as dealers look to liquidate inventory following the automaker's filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month. The strategy is working so far. Last month saw Suzuki sell a total of 2,224 vehicles, up 22 percent compared to the same time period in 2011. The Japanese manufacturer says it will continue the incentives through December.
Suzuki had around 5,000 units in dealer inventory in the US when it went into bankruptcy protection, with an additional 1,500-1,700 vehicles headed to dealers at that time. The company says it will continue to honor warranties moving forward using its current dealer network. Most of the dealerships will become Suzuki service and parts stores after American Suzuki shutters car sales in the US.
