Scion Xb 2006 Release Series 4.0 With Low Miles, Automatic on 2040-cars

I bought this car new in early 2007 after we fell in love with the Torched Penny paint job and were amazed by the interior room. This has been my daily driver for the last 7 years and it only has 83,xxx miles on it now. All of the service work has been done at Rice Toyota and I just put a brand new set of tires on it in the last year. Scion's only have ONE option, they come fully loaded, and that is the automatic transmission which is really nice! The dealer add-ons included the XM radio and cruise control. What makes this car unique is two things, the first is that it is a special edition, Scion puts these out every year or two with a special paint job, ground effects package, spoiler, special trim and a NUMBERED plate showing that this car is #1469 of 2500 made. The special package was approx. $2000 from what I remember and appear to be pretty popular when you google it. Scion has a unique page showing every Release Series they have offered. The second unique feature of THIS car is that fact that we really wanted a sunroof and the dealer had one installed for us. I guess this could be called a 'moon roof' which is to say it tilts up and down AND slides back into the roof as well. There is also a sliding cover for when it is closed and you want to keep the sunshine out. That was about $1,500 add on to the price of the car. They were both worth the expense, the car really is eye catching, the paint job is iridescent (changes color depending on the angle you are looking at it) and there is only one other one like it in the Triad area that I have seen over the last 7 years!! The engine is a very peppy 1.5L and my best mpg was in the mid to low 30s when traveling all highway from here to the beach. During all of this snow stuff this year, except for when the snow was really high (big snow berms to worry about) the front wheel drive took me to/from work every day without any issues. It DOES have traction control, which is a great safety feature and does kick in if the car senses it is sliding, etc. The interior is a dark charcoal in color, there is an extra mat that covers the trunk area and the seats are all in good condition, no tears or such. Everything works great on the car, no issues, a/c blows nice and cold, I actually have started the 2 month xm radio trial in case folks wanted to hear that when you test drive the car. So why am I getting rid of it? The answer is that my wife and I are really wanting a Jeep Wrangler, I have owned several over the years and this is the year that I get another one for the summer. If you are interested in a great car, LOTS of interior room, 30 mpg daily driver with LOW miles and unique features, this is the car for you. Shoot me an email, text or call and we can get together. Toyota GT86 turbo, convertible, sedan variants back on the table
Fri, 02 May 2014Okay Toyota, make up your mind. Figure it out. Quit playing games with our heart. Either build a bunch of variations of the excellent GT86 (also known as the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ) or don't. At this point, we're just tired of the back and forth. After no shortage of denials, an Australian website is claiming that Toyota is reconsidering convertible, four-door, turbocharged and all-wheel-drive hybrid variants of the GT86. Kindly pass all the salt.
It's not that we don't want to believe the Aussies; we do. But when the story lists the same "sources in Japan" as a lot of the other denials and confirmations about GT86/BRZ/FR-S variants, well, there's a certain sense of the "Boy That Cried Wolf," here. Ignoring all that, then, what does Motoring.com.au claim to know?
Sources claim the GT86 Convertible will arrive in October 2014, while the turbocharged and hybrid sedans are slated for 2016.
Toyota 86 most likely to get more power through more displacement? [w/poll]
Wed, 21 Aug 2013The Sydney Morning Herald has spoken to Tetsuya Tada, chief engineer of the Toyota 86 (our version of it, the Scion FR-S, is pictured above), and they've been promised that more power is on the way. We've heard a lot of speculation about a more powerful Toyobaru since before the standard model was even launched. The only question now is how the power will be delivered, and among the engine concepts we've already heard about - turbo, supercharger, twin-charged, hybrid - is a new one: more displacement.
Tada said that an engine with more displacement than the current coupe's 2.0 liters is being tested alongside a turbocharged and a hybrid-assisted motor. The SMH cites "inside sources" as saying the displacement option is the one likely to get the go-ahead, and suggests increased bore and stroke will see the engine grow to 2.5 liters, horsepower to about 250 - a 50-hp increase over the present car.
While that's apparently the betting man's solution for the long-awaited increase in gumption, what happens with the next generation could be more wide open than we suspected. According to the report, Tada "hinted that [a successor] could be a radically different car, potentially dropping the boxer engine altogether." He said once they've sorted out the concept for the second generation car, then they'll sort out an engine. That's where a turbo option could come to market, perhaps the turbocharged four-cylinder Toyota is developing for the Lexus NX crossover or a hybrid system that uses a capacitor.
New drifting world record set in Toyota GT86

Last year, BMW smashed the Guinness World Record for the longest drift by hanging the tail out for 51.3 miles around a wet skid pad in an M5 at the BMW Performance Driving School in South Carolina. That beat the previous milestone of nearly seven miles. Now, Bimmer's record is up in smoke as well and is in the possession of a Toyota.
German driver Harald Müller pummeled the old record to drift for 89.55 miles around a 0.15-mile (235.5-meter) course in Samsun, Turkey, in a Toyota GT86 (or Scion FR-S as it's known in the US). According to the Guinness World Records website, it took him 612 laps and 2 hours, 25 minutes and 18 seconds to manage the achievement. Sit back to watch a few minutes of the German's two and a half hours behind the wheel with the tail out.
