This is a 1995 Saturn SL1. This was my first car and I bought it when I was 17 years old and I paid $2300 for it. It was originally a family car before I bought it and I' am the 2nd owner of the car. The car has just under 120,000 miles; not bad for a 18 year old car. I purchased it with 83,600 miles on it so I haven't put a ton of mileage since I have had it, I' am selling it because it is time for a newer car and this is a good starter car for someone that is just learning how to drive.

It is cheap to buy and has been reliable for me over the 7 years I have had it. But it does need some work so I' am looking for someone that would be willing to put the work into it to make it a great car again. There are 3 things that the cars needs work on. The exhaust system need repaired mainly the catalytic converter and a muffler. The brakes are a bit worn and should be replaced but still decent enough for driving. Lastly the engine misfires which could just be a spark plug and wires issue or it could be the cylinders. I've had work done on this before so its not unusual. The car does burn oil so I recommend a oil change every 2 months and plugs every 2 months too. It has a new alternator and the transmission is still solid. The engine is original and if you wanted to replace the engine it wouldn't actually cost that much. The tires are still good. It doesn't have AC because it is an older model and the heat works great. It has a new CD player and radio system. It is front wheel drive which is great for snow. I have kept the interior clean as I have kept it detailed over the years. A few minor stains but those were from the previous owner.

I' am looking for a buyer that is really willing to put the work/money into the car and who is mechanically inclined to do so. I have had several mechanics come by to look at it and they were planning to fix it themselves but if someone wants to spend the money and have someone else fix it that's fine too. This is going to be for local pick-up only. I will not be dealing with shipping the car so please don't ask. Potential buyers will have to provide there own way to transport the vehicle since it is not really drivable. I have had a few people that came to look at the car already have a plan to transport it back to there location whether it was by using a truck to haul it or using a flat bed or tow. These people were prepared even if they may not have decided to buy it. So my word of advise is to be prepared and have a plan or strategy even if you may not win/buy the car.  Please serious buyers only if you don't want to put the work into it don't bother it's a waste of time.

Paypal will be my payment method. PAYMENT WILL NEED TO BE MADE WITHIN 2 DAYS OF AUCTION CLOSING. I' am being strict about this if the payment is not made I will cancel the transaction, report it and relist so keep that in mind. If you don't have the money to buy it don't bother I don't do half now half later. If you are in the area or live close enough by and would like to come and see the car for yourself I encourage you to do so. Please message me and I can set up a scheduled date and time for you to come by and check it out yourself. But please make sure you are on the same page as me when deciding to come check out the vehicle. I will be openly honest about everything because I want you to feel good knowing what you are buying and receiving. My dad was a mechanic so me and him have taken good care of the car over the years it is just time for something new. I' am flexible on the price so don't be afraid to contact me. My email address is JLewis1097@yahoo.com or you can just message me on ebay. I encourage everyone to ask as many questions as you can. the more information I can provide the more confident you can feel when trying to make a decision on to bid or not. HAPPY BIDDING!

Saturn Vue ignition issue was discussed three times before recall, new documents reveal

Fri, 05 Sep 2014

Despite the tens of millions of recalled vehicles this year, it's somewhat rare that we get a glimpse into what goes into deciding when to conduct one of these safety campaigns. New documents published by General Motors and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are giving us an interesting opportunity to see how the sausage is made and show the number of meetings it takes to declare a recall.
In early August, GM added about another 269,000 vehicles to its 2014 recall tally in the US when it announced a slew of new safety campaigns. Among them was a fix for the 2002-2004 Saturn Vue that covered 202,155 of them in the US. The problem was that the key could be removed from the ignition even when it wasn't in the "OFF" position, and that had caused two crashes and one injury, according to the automaker.
Where we start to see behind the veil is in the defect notice freshly released by NHTSA. It shows that GM began investigating more widely for ignition switches in April, shortly after the company expanded its ignition switch recall to a variety of Saturn products, among others, according to Automotive News. The automaker found 152 reports in the 2002-2004 Vue of vehicles rolling away or the key being removed out of a total population of 215,243 units worldwide.

STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM

Fri, 16 Oct 2009

Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.

Report: Saturn owners offered $2,000 to stick with GM products

Mon, 15 Feb 2010

After its decision to euthanize Oldsmobile, General Motors knows exactly what happens when it mothballs one of its brands: GM loses market share to the competition. The General is trying to stop history from repeating itself with Saturn customers by offering $2,000 on the hood of every car and crossover donning the ringed planet badge. Automotive News says the offer actually started on February 2 and runs until the end of March. To be eligible for the $2,000 bounty Saturn owners must have leased or purchased their Saturn at least six months ago. Interestingly, those owners don't even have to turn in their Saturn to be eligible for the cash.
AN reports that research company R.L. Polk says even before Saturn went on the endangered species list, it lagged other GM nameplates in the all-important aspect of customer retention. The mass exodus from Saturn loyalty predictably intensified at the end of 2008 as customers became anxious over the future of the brand. For its part, GM insists that all Saturn warranties will be upheld and customers looking for service can still go to a GMC, Chevy, Buick or Cadillac dealership.
