Up for Auction we have a Beautiful 1988 Saab 900 Turbo Convertible. This car was a One Owner Car and was always garaged. It is loaded with all of the options that were available in 1988. Everything works as it should. Even the radio. we have all the original books and manuals even the Radio code card. This car is very clean. It was always Garaged and it shows! It runs and drives as you would expect a 48,000 mile car to run...Like New! The top goes up and down effortlessly. All the windows and electrical items work fine. The body has no paintwork that we could find. It is all Original. The tires are in great shape with lots of tread remaining. The original radio works as well as the factory equalizer. Even the Power Antenna Works! The leather seats are in Great shape with very little wear on them. It is truly a pleasure to drive. I have actually had this Beautiful convertible for almost a year and have enjoyed it. As a dealer I get many cars however I really loved this one so I put it in the garage where it belongs and used it on sunny days. It is now ready to go to its new owner who will care for as the Original owner did. Being a 25 year old car it is not new but in great shape. It does however have a few little things. The glove box door has a applique on it that is starting to peel on the edge. The material on the drivers door panel insert has become unglued in places in is a bit loose. The windshield has a tiny crack (less than 1 inch ) from a rock hitting it. The front cover on the ashtray has come off. Te top which I believe to be original has three little wear holes from going up and down. It is not ripped and is still in good condition but has these spots that are worn. ( See Pictures for all these issues). The speakers for the radio crackle a bit sometimes but the radio plays and sounds fine. There are a few small door dings and maybe some very small scratches that are not really noticeable. These is a small piece of molding on the left side front bumper extension that is missing. Thats about it. It is truly a time capsule in excellent condition! It even still has the Factory Bosch Fog lights under the front bumper!! Mahindra eying stake in Saab owner NEVS?
Tue, 17 Jun 2014It's ironic that Saab's current vehicle architecture is called the Phoenix platform, because like the mythological bird, the company keeps returning from the ashes. That's right, the embattled Swedish automaker isn't completely dead yet. Again. Actually, it may be facing yet another buyout, and this time, the buyer may be from India.
Less than a month ago, the situation looked ominous for Saab. National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the carmaker's current owner, temporarily shut down 9-3 production at its Trollhättan factory not long after restarting it in the first place. According to Just Auto, it laid off about 100 consultants allegedly linked to problems making June payroll, as well. At the time, Saab claimed that the measures were temporary, and it was negotiating selling part ownership to another automaker.
Those assertions might have some truth behind them, it seems. Indian newspaper The Economic Times reports that Mahindra & Mahindra and an unnamed Asian automaker are negotiating with NEVS to purchase part of the company. It claims that the Indian automaker sees Saab as an opportunity to add a premium brand to its business.

Fri, 03 Aug 2012Remember a month and a half ago when we told you that Saab will "soldier on?" Well, we should have written "stand at attention."
According to SaabsUnited, the deal for National Electric Vehicle Sweden to buy the remaining Saab assets didn't close on schedule. In fact, it's been delayed by "a month, perhaps more." NEVS also seems to have indicated that it's not going to be answering any more questions about the deal until it's completed.
NEVS is supposedly planning on building electric cars based on the design that would have been the next-generation 9-3. The company itself is a partnership between a Chinese energy company and a Japanese investment group.

Fri, 22 Feb 2013Looking back on the life and [slow and painful] death of Saab, it's impossible to not stop and think of what might have been with the quirky Swedish automaker. As it turns out, SaabsUnited has decided to shed some light on what the company's future might have looked like, including some images and information that include full-scale mockups of the 9-3 Phoenix, which you see above.
In its waning years, Saab's lead designer Jason Castriota was working feverishly to deliver new products that built on the heritage of the brand while doing so at a lower cost and in a shorter time period than previous models. In the end, though, it sounds like the earliest that we could have seen any of these plans come to fruition was 2014. In addition to hatchback and convertible 9-3 variants, Castriota also created the Sonnett - a sporty-looking 2+2 that never made it past the design study phase.
