Up for Auction is an absolutely gorgeous 1988 Saab 900 Turbo Convertible.  I am the 2nd owner of this car, and I have only owned it for 3 months.  The original owner owned the car until I bought it from a car dealer.  The full vehicle history report goes with the car, and it is perfect.  No accidents, no liens, no blemishes.  This car is fantastic.  It was my lifelong dream car, and I bought it in the hope of keeping it for weekend driving.  What I've discovered is that the car is too pristine for me to drive.  It really should go to a collector or investor.  This car is only going to appreciate in value.  I currently have the car registered as an antique in PA.

It is clearly evident from the condition that the car was always garaged.  It is loaded with all of the options that were available in 1988.  Everything works as it should.  I have all the original books and manuals even the Radio code card.  The car is immaculate.  It was always Garaged and it shows!  It runs and drives as you would expect a 49,000 mile car to run...like it is brand new!  The top goes up and down effortlessly.  All the windows and electrical items work fine.  It is all Original.  The tires are in great shape with lots of tread remaining.  The original radio works as well as the factory equalizer.   Even the Power Antenna Works!  The leather seats are in great shape for the age of the car with very little wear on them.  It is truly a pleasure to drive.  I honestly wish it wasn't in such great shape, so I wouldn't feel guilty driving it.

Being a 25 year old car it is not perfect.  It does have a few little things that could be fixed.  The glove box door has a applique on it that is starting to peel on the edge.  The material on the drivers door panel insert has become unglued in places in is a bit loose.  The windshield has a tiny crack (less than 1 inch ) from a rock hitting it.  The front cover on the ashtray has come off.  The top which I believe to be original has three little wear holes from going up and down.  It is not ripped and is still in good condition but has these spots that are worn.   ( See Pictures for all these issues).  The speakers for the radio crackle a bit sometimes but the radio plays and sounds fine.     There are a few small door dings and maybe some very small scratches that are not really noticeable.  These is a small piece of molding on the left side front bumper extension that is missing.   Thats about it.  It is truly a time capsule in excellent condition!  It even still has the Factory Bosch Fog lights under the front bumper!!

If you are in the Lancaster, PA area and would like to see and drive this Beautiful Saab Convertible feel free to call me at 717-903-4142.   I will assist in Shipping or Pickup arrangements anyway I can.   A $500.00 dollar deposit Via paypal is due within 24 hours of the auction end.

Please understand that this is an "as is, where is" sale, and no warranty is stated or implied in anyway.  That said, I personally would have all the confidence in the world getting in the car and driving across the country!

Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!

Last 900 Saabs heading to auction

Fri, 22 Jun 2012

If you've been wanting to get your hands on one last new Saab but missed out on the great Saab sell-off when Saab Cars North America declared bankruptcy, well, your ship has now come in.
Actually, it came in last year - but hundreds of new Saabs got waylaid at ports in California and New Jersey because of the bankruptcy, according to SaabWorld.net. Those cars are now slated for auction, some 900 of them, which will be available for dealers, exporters and rental car companies to bid on beginning next week. Eventually, 300 of these cars should make their way to Saab dealers, where they're expected to be sold off at 30- to 50-percent discounts. The other 600 will either be exported or used as rentals, according to the report, so "the price of Saabs will not be severely depressed."
Besides the new cars, some 67 company cars, including some interesting stuff like a 1960 Saab Quantum IV and a 1970 Sonnett III, will also be auctioned off, according to the report. Of the new cars, just over half are 9-5 models, some 400 are 9-3 sedans, another 60 are 9-3 wagons, and about a dozen are convertibles. According to the report, 28 are actually 9-4X crossovers, which is more than 10 percent of Saab's total 2011 sales for that model.

Saab US bankruptcy plan gets legal green-light

Thu, 18 Jul 2013

It feels utterly bizarre that we're still talking about Saab, but Reuters is reporting that the bankrupt Swedish manufacturer's American arm has gotten approval from the US Bankruptcy Court to liquidate its assets and pay back creditors. As part of the plan, secured creditors like Ally Financial will receive full repayment. Unsecured creditors, consisting of those affected by abandoned leases and contracts will get anywhere from 25 to 82 percent of their money back.
There are currently $77 million in unsecured claims, according to Reuters, but that number doesn't include claims from former Saab dealers. Naturally, the entire affair is full of lawyers and legalese. A trust formed on the Saab side will be negotiating with creditors and their affiliates in an attempt to reduce claims against Saab. This sounds like the start of a long and sordid affair...

GM recalling 524k vehicles over hood latches and toe link nuts

Fri, 03 Oct 2014

Just hours after confirming to Autoblog its intention to recall 97,540 vehicles in the US (117,651 in North America) for a possible manufacturing defect in the chassis control module of several models, General Motors is issuing two more campaigns that affect another 379,401 units in the US (524,384 in North America).
One campaign covers 290,107 US examples of the 2010-2015 Cadillac SRX and the 2011-2012 Saab 9-4X because the "rear toe link adjuster lock nuts" may be improperly torqued. If not up to spec, the toe adjuster link could separate and allow the wheel to shift while driving, making the handling unstable. GM says that it knows of three crashes and two injuries as a result of this problem. Dealers are inspecting the nuts and installing a new link assembly, if necessary. Autoblog first reported about this potential issue when it showed up on a list of recalls from Transport Canada.
The second recall is for 89,294 examples of the 2013-2015 Chevrolet Spark in the US manufactured from January 17, 2012, through July 29, 2014. According to GM, "corrosion can cause the secondary hood latch striker to stick in the open position." If this happens, and the primary latch also isn't engaged for some reason, the hood could fly open while driving. About 13,000 of these affected Sparks are at dealers and are being held until repaired. The fix requires replacing the hood striker. GM isn't aware of crashes, injuries or fatalities caused by this problem.
