HERES THE DEAL : I HAD WHAT WAS A SLIGHT EXHAUST LEAK THAT I COULD BARELY HEAR , SO I DECIDED TO CHANGE THE MANIFOLD GASKET. (DUMB) I BROKE OFF A STUD IN THE CYLINDER HEAD . I WASNT ABOUT TO PUT IT BACK TOGETHER WITH A GREATER EXHAUST LEAK, AND I JUST DONT WANT TO WORK ON IT IN THE COLD. I EVEN HAVE ANOTHER CYLINDER HEAD.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR A YEAR AGO NOT RUNNING ON EBAY. IT HAS A WATER DAMAGE TITLE , BUT THE ONLY DAMAGE I COULD FIND WAS THE OIL PAN FULL OF ANTIFREEZE. I THINK SOMEBODY PULLED A FAST ONE ON THE INSURANCE , BECAUSE A BLOWN TIMING BELT DID THIS INTERFERENCE ENGINE IN. NEW BLEND MOTOR ON HEAT SYSTEM. I PUT A USED ENGINE WITH 75,000K MILES ON IT , REPLACED BRAKES ALL AROUND , AND HAVE A NEW STAINLESS CAT-BACK EXHAUST ON IT. (WITHIN 6 MONTHS.) K & N FILTER. THE CAR RUNS GREAT EXCEPT MY RECENT ADVENTURE. BODY IS IN GREAT SHAPE, NO RUST. A FEW SCRATCHES AND VERY SMALL DENTS. THERE ARE A FEW SCRATCHES. ALL SEATS, A/C , WINDOWS WORK. I HAVE A USED DRIVERS DOOR LOCK THAT GOES WITH IT. 26 MPG PRETTY CONSISTANT. HAVE RECEIPTS. |

Saab's never-was 9-3 gets a few better looks
Sat, 23 Mar 2013The recent glimpses we've been getting of the never-was Saab 9-3 Phoenix must be like rubbing salt on the wounds of all the Saab fans out there. If that's the case, diehard Saab enthusiasts might want to look away from this. SaabWorld has uncovered a handful of shots of what was to be the next-generation 9-3 hatchback, and boy does it look sharp.
Revealing a clearer look at what we previously saw in grainy images or as a full-scale model, these new pictures show what Jason Castriota had in mind for the new car. The front end is obviously inspired by Saab's Phoenix Concept, while the rear of the car pays homage to the Saab 900 hatchback.
We like the overall look. Let us know what you think in the Comments.
GM SUV window switch recall urges owners to park vehicles outside
Thu, 07 Aug 2014It's not unusual for there to be a lag between an automaker announcing a recall and the official documentation showing up on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website. So it's no surprise that a recent GM campaign took about a month to appear in its official capacity. However, there appears to be some big differences between the two reports with potential safety implications.
In late June, GM announced that it needed to recall 181,984 examples of the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Buick Rainier, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 9-7x from the 2005-2007 model years, plus the 2006 Chevy Trailblazer EXT and 2006 GMC Envoy XL. The new documents paint a slightly different picture with 184,611 needing repaired and different model years listed.
The reason for the fix is still the same, though. It's possible for fluid to contact the master power window switch module in the driver's door, which can corrode the part. Eventually this could cause a short circuit, leaving the buttons inoperable and potentially leading to a fire. But the new NHTSA documents add an important note: "A fire could occur even while the vehicle is not in use. As a precaution, owners are advised to park outside until the remedy has been made."
GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
