1999 Saab 9-5 Wagon, near perfect body with just a very few small scuffs and tiny rock chips, no dings, dents or paint flaws, see pics. Black leather interior in great shape, heated front and rear seats with power controls and 3-way memory settings; small cracks and a single hole in front of drivers seat and cracked leather on center console, otherwise in perfect condition. 2.3L turbo engine with 4 speed automatic transmission is super reliable, has never let us down, powerful and economical. Stock Garrett turbo upgraded with brand new Mitsubishi GT unit from Saab 9-5 250 HP Aero model, nice increase in highway passing power and economy over stock - regularly returns 28+ MPG at 75+ hwy speeds, capable of over 32 MPG at steady 65 MPH. All engine and transmission mounts were replaced as a maintenance item less than 1000 miles ago, greatly smoothing out vibration at idle most 9-5s are known for. No leaks or drips. Silicone intercooler hoses and vacuum lines installed with new turbo. Mobil One synthetic oil and fluids throughout.
Rear seat is a 60/40 split and folds to form a long load floor - lots of room back there for camping, groceries or whatever you might need to carry. Continental Extreme DWS (Dry, Wet, Snow) all-weather Ultra-high-performance (UHP) 16" radial tires on stock Saab rims, no curb rash or oxidation. Brakes, suspension, steering all tight and work as they should. Both Sport and Winter shift modes work well. SID rebuilt a few years back, no missing pixels and all functions work. Radio & CD player sound good, has stock subwoofer built into cargo area and you can crank it! Cold AC and working heat front and rear. Cruise control, tilt wheel, front, rear and headlight wipers with new blades. Sunroof works perfectly in both modes and seals well, no water or air leaks. All glass and mirrors intact, headlights and other lenses are bright and shiny with no oxidation, power mirrors occasionally intermittent and fog light cover on one side is cracked. Has been a California/Arizona vehicle for many years so there is absolutely NO rust anywhere, body and chassis are solid and clean as can be. There is a trailer hitch and 4-pin wiring harness from a previous owner but we've never used it. Couple of small items for complete disclosure - 1: SID will occasionally display false errors such as front or rear light failure and check coolant level when there are no faults. As these go away with the push of a button never gave it much thought after confirming time and time again that there are no actual problems. 2: AC is cold (44 degrees) but left side driver's dash vent blows warm air only - a known Saab issue involving the driver side flapper door motor. All other vents work fine and the faulty vent can be completely shut off so again this does not present a problem in use. 3: Cruise control will always set fine the first time you use it but sometimes will not reset after hitting the brakes - sometimes this resolves itself right away, sometimes it takes a few miles but always eventually starts working again. At this time, these are the only issues I am aware of. This is a fine example of a clean, well maintained Saab 9-5 turbo wagon which needs nothing to enjoy driving day in and day out. This has been our long-distance travel wagon and has been smooth, comfortable and reliable on any number of 1000+ mile trips - we are only selling as we needed a manual shift wagon to flat-tow behind our motorhome, so it's been replaced by a Passat turbo wagon, which is almost, but not quite, as nice to drive as the Saab! We'll miss it! NO Reserve! Saab is sold as-is, where-is with no warranty expressed or implied. Buyer responsible for all shipping and/or travel costs, seller will cooperate with all reasonable arrangements for shipping or pickup in person. We welcome and encourage inspections during the auction period, located in Ash Fork AZ, 50 miles from Flagstaff or Prescott. Fly in to Flagstaff, Prescott, Phoenix or Las Vegas airports and drive home. Clear AZ title, no issues. Check our 100% feedback, we strive to always show items in their true condition. Thanks much for looking and have a great time bidding! |

Saab 9-3 production to start in China in 2013 [UPDATE]
Thu, 17 Jan 2013We knew that National Electric Vehicle Sweden planned to restart production of the last-gen Saab 9-3 at some point in the future, we just didn't know exactly when, or exactly where. As it turns out, the answers to those questions are soon, and China.
Though NEVS had initially said it will build vehicles in Sweden before shipping them to China, the latest report from Autocar suggests that the cars will instead be built right in Quingdao starting later in 2013. That's right, this calendar year. Also on the docket is a followup electric version of the 9-3, which is slated to come to market in 2014 in an effort to satiate China's wish that there be half a million EVs silently filling its streets within the next two years.
NEVS wants to be part of the EV solution, but it's not going to be easy. Naturally, if these cars are to be built in China, a factory has to be located or built, tooling needs to be in place, workers need to be hired and trained and a lengthy trail of paperwork has to be signed off by the government before even the well-known gasoline-powered 9-3 can be a reality, let along the unknown quantity that is the 9-3 ePower.
NEV deal to buy Saab delayed
Fri, 03 Aug 2012Remember a month and a half ago when we told you that Saab will "soldier on?" Well, we should have written "stand at attention."
According to SaabsUnited, the deal for National Electric Vehicle Sweden to buy the remaining Saab assets didn't close on schedule. In fact, it's been delayed by "a month, perhaps more." NEVS also seems to have indicated that it's not going to be answering any more questions about the deal until it's completed.
NEVS is supposedly planning on building electric cars based on the design that would have been the next-generation 9-3. The company itself is a partnership between a Chinese energy company and a Japanese investment group.
GM recalls 500K Chevy Camaros for ignition-switch defect
Fri, 13 Jun 2014General Motors issued a recall for more than a half million Chevrolet Camaros on Friday morning because of an ignition-switch safety hazard that mirrors the one at the center of the company's current crisis.
The problem affects Camaro models from the 2010 to 2014 model years. Approximately 464,712 cars are impacted in the United States, and 511,528 overall in North America. GM will alter the Camaro key to a more standard design, and will notify car owners with a recall notice in the mail.
In an announcement, the company said the ignition switches on the Camaros are fundamentally different parts than the older ignition switches found on defective cars that are responsible for killing at least 13 people and causing 54 crashes.
