St. George, Utah, United States

Car runs and drive great.  It is in beautiful condition; the tires are brand new Pirelli's (less than 500 miles), the brakes (all four) are brand new, air blows cold and everything works.  The miles are actual and the car has been kept in garage.  I'm handling the sale of the car for the owner who is elderly and is in an old folks care center.  I will add more pictures Monday morning.  Today (8/25) I replied to some enquirers so I'm adding what I wrote to them.  I will be posting more pictures within three hours. The owner says that it has been maintained religiously with Foreign Auto Repairs here in St. George. I will see about getting a record of the maintenance and get back to you today on that. As for Auto Check saying there is a mileage discrepancy, I called the Utah MVD about it and their records won't go back any further than the 8/08/2006 date as they changed their system just before that date. I know! How convenient! This I can speak positively on that Utah puts on the title "0" after odometer and down in the middle of the title writes "VEHICLE IS EXEMPT FROM ODOMETER REQUIREMENTS" whenever a vehicle is ten years old and older. I have a copy of the title from the owner which says "Duplicate Title" at the top and the issue date is 08/08/2006. The owner lost the title that was issued by Utah on 12/01/2000 and so they got this duplicate title on 8/08/2006. So, I am baffled why as to why Auto Check is showing odo discrepancy. The only thing I can figure out is that either Utah DMV made a mistake when issuing the 2000 title by putting unknown miles instead of exempt or Auto Check is in error in recording odo discrepancy instead of exempt odo for the 2000 date. I say this because the owners are very honest people and he was unable to get a Utah drivers license since they moved here because of what diabetes has affected his eyes and she had a Volvo that she drove when they moved here so the car has not been driven much since 2000. As you see on Auto Check, the car had 48K in California and now it reads 51905 and I verified that its working. I will see what other info I can get from Foreign Auto Repair. Okay, I went to Foreign Auto and got copies of the servicing they have had done since here in St. George. The first invoice is dated 09/24/2004; the mileage was 50,915 and it was for State Inspection and lube, oil & filter. Then they had an inspection and LOF (lube, oil, filter) each year thereafter up to date. They also had a valve cover gasket replaced on 11/08/2012. I talked to the owner again about the mileage and they said that they absolutely have never had any odo problems. The odo has always worked fine. Also, I should mention that this car belongs to non-smokers.

Rolls-Royce planning plug-in hybrid

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

Rolls-Royce is not the first marque you'd think of when it comes to environmentally friendly transportation. Its cars are big - often the size of SUVs - and pack ginormous twelve-cylinder engines displacing over six and a half liters. Those upright Parthenon grilles can't be very aerodynamic, either. But the way the wind is blowing these days, Goodwood will have to get with the program sooner or later.
It developed an electric version of the Phantom a couple of years ago called the 102EX and showed it to customers around the world. But people weren't interested, so Rolls-Royce killed the program. Not to be deterred, however, Rolls is now said to be working on a plug-in hybrid that would countermand some of the shortcomings - like range and recharging times - that killed the 102EX.
The technology would apparently be borrowed from parent company BMW which is developing it for the X5 eDrive and allow Rolls-Royce to reduce its carbon footprint and offer a more environmentally friendly mode of transportation to those who don't want to skimp on the luxury and prestige.

Rolls-Royce readying Wraith convertible

Thu, 08 May 2014

For seven years, Rolls-Royce got by on the Phantom line alone, expanding on the original saloon with a long-wheelbase version, a coupe and the convertible. But now that the Ghost is part of the family, Goodwood seems to be following a similar expansion.
What started with the Ghost sedan has since been joined by the extended-wheelbase model and the Wraith fastback coupe. And now we're receiving spy shots of a Wraith-based convertible undergoing testing.
Potentially to be called the Wraith Drophead Coupe like its larger Phantom-based counterpart, the cabrio is likely to borrow much from the Wraith fastback - including its 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 producing 624 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque - but with a folding cloth roof mechanism to let the wind and engine note in, although the prototype pictured here is wearing a makeshift hardtop.

Ugur Sahin returns with Rolls Royce Jonckheere Aerodynamic Coupe II design

Sat, 15 Dec 2012

The "Round Door" Rolls-Royce Phantom I Aerodynamic Coupe (inset) is a magnificent black beast of a car (and you can see it at the Petersen Automotive Museum for a limited time) as well as a mystery: designed by the Jonckheere Works in Belgium in 1935, all records for the one-of-a-kind coupe were destroyed in World War II, so no one knows who designed it or who commissioned it. What remains of the original coachbuilding company now makes bodies for cars and buses, and has asked designer Ugur Sahin to reinterpret the most fabulous car from its history.
We've written about Sahin often before, recently about his Corvette-based Anandi being shown at Top Marques Monaco and going into production. For a man who favors long hoods and short bodies, this particular Rolls-Royce couldn't be better. Sahin says the word "Respect" guided his lines for the 77-year-old car, the most apparent changes being the front fender treatment, the headlights dropping into the fenders, and the serious downsizing of the fin at the rear. Sahin says that there are talks with potential investors about building a one-off.
You can find out a little more about it in the press release below, and check out the gallery above of high-res images for every angle.
