Rolls Royce Silver Shadow on 2040-cars
Dayton, Ohio, United States
This is a complete running driving car. Restore it, use it for parts for your other Rolls, or drive it as it is. I am no longer playing with these old cars. The interior is in fairly nice shape. Great headliner, seats are good. The door panels will need to be redyed. They probably look good in the pictures, but close up they do not look as good. I do not have a face plate for the aftermarket radio. The carpet is ok. The dash looks good for a car of this age. The frame and undercarriage are not perfect, but solid. The vinyl top is in good shape. The green paint is old, and not the best job. From 20 feet away it looks show quality, but upon close observation, it is rough. The paint appears to be enamel. I do not know anybody who has applied enamel in 25 years, so the paint is old. Easy refinish if you have the time. The front bumper is solid, but needs to be rechromed. The rest of the bright work is in nice condition. I believe this to be a complete car without any missing pieces with the exception of a missing passenger door arm rest. Rebuild this one as it is, or use the parts for your own project. This car is worth more to collectors for all the trim, than I am asking for the car. Please bid with the intention of buying the car. I do not want to relist this car due to nonpaying bidders. I am an Ohio Car dealer, and as such must collect sales tax if it applies to you. I will do all Ohio title work if necessary at my expense. You are responsible for title fees in any other state than Ohio. I am requiring a $200. Deposit via Paypal within 24 hrs. of the end of the auction. If not received, I will offer the car to the next bidder. Final payment due within 7 days. I can store the car for up to 30 days in my heat controlled barn until it can be picked up. I can assist you in arranging transportation, but the transportation fees is not included in the auction price. I hope you have fun with your new car. |

Rolls-Royce spotted testing even sportier Wraith
Mon, 10 Nov 2014A Rolls-Royce is not what you'd typically consider to be "sporty." Luxurious. Stately. Even powerful, packed as they are with twelve-cylinder engines displacing in excess of six and a half liters. The Wraith set out to change that with a sportier package, more rakish profile and an even more potent version of the Ghost's 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 to make it the fastest and most powerful Rolls-Royce ever made. But now it seems Goodwood is working on an even more aggressive version.
Spotted undergoing testing in parent company BMW's home country of Germany, this particular Wraith might strike you as the same one we've already seen, save for a few telltale details. It may be wearing the same rolling stock as the existing model, with what look like the same tailpipes protruding ever so elegantly around back, but at the bottom of the front bumper and atop the rear trunklid you'll notice more assertive spoilers added on.
To what end, we cannot be certain, but our spotters on the ground seem to think this is a prototype for a more extreme version of the Wraith - possibly inspired by the attention garnered by the Bentley Continental GT3-R. Could we be looking at a Wraith V-Specification like we saw with the Ghost? We'll have to wait to find out for sure, but in the meantime you can scope out the virtually undisguised prototype in the gallery of high-resolution spy shots above.
Ghost Coupe to be fastest Rolls-Royce ever
Sun, 05 Aug 2012Autocar has snapped spy shots of a Rolls-Royce Ghost Coupe, and judging from proportions the car will be so long in front and raked in back that it would make Dick Tracy whistle. We'll get the true story on that at next year's Geneva Motor Show, which is when Autocar says it's due to be revealed, but what's less in question is this: with a 6.6-liter, 600-horsepower V12 and a tauter ride it will be the fastest Rolls-Royce ever.
Weight is estimated to drop by 200 kg compared to its sedan sibling, and its roofline to drop by up to nearly three inches. If the horsepower numbers are correct the shorter and lighter Ghost coupe, with a 69-hp bump over the sedan, will assuredly deliver the "considerably brisker" acceleration promised. Helping matters will be the lowered chassis, larger tires, "mildly sports-orientated" brakes and a suspension tuned to be more aggressive but delivering just as much waftability.
Although it's being called the Ghost Coupe for now, insiders have suggested to the magazine that that it will get its own, bespoke, name, with pricing above the standard sedan but below the extended-wheelbase sedan.
Former Princess Diana Rolls-Royce being auctioned for charity [w/video]
Wed, 31 Oct 2012While it isn't that uncommon to see cars belonging to celebrities and dignitaries roll across the auction block these days, this car is a little extra special. This particular 1979 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was the car that Prince Charles and Princess Diana arrived at the White House in during a visit in 1985. As some added trivia, this was also the visit where Princess Di cut a rug with none other than John Travolta.
Volo Auto Museum will be auctioning off this piece of American and British history on November 9th - exactly 27 years from Princess Di's White House visit. According to the auction listing, this armored Silver Shadow was the official car of the UK's embassy, and it has been valued at around $2 million by the Berman Museum of History. The auction will have no reserve with some of the proceeds going to the Children with Cancer UK charity that Princess Diana started in 1988.
