1967 Rolls Royce No Reserve Auction Classic British Luxury Bentley Mercedes Rhd on 2040-cars

Year:1967 Mileage:99898
Location:

San Diego, California, United States

San Diego, California, United States

This Rolls Royce was aquired from an inheritance and is sold as is where is.  No reserve auction.  Clean california title. No back fees are due.  No Smog necessary.  This is a 4 door saloon which ran 4 years ago and nothing has been done with it since.  It did start and drive then, however we found it was leaking gasoline somewhere around the gas tank area so it was not moved.  The muffler was also rusted so it sounds like a muscle car, not like a Rolls Royce is supposed too.  The leather is the original hides from 1967 and are in poor shape with exception of the doors, ceiling, and dash which are in good condition.  In my opinion, the two front seats need to be reupholstered, the rest is good unless you wanted a show car.  The transmission is the factory 4 speed automatic which we believe it to be a General Motors Transmission. The engine is a 6230cc L410 V8.  This rolls royce has disc brakes, independent rear suspension.  It appears that the self levelling suspension has been replaced as whoever installed the new high pressure hydraulic system, left the old steel tubing right along next to it.  There were over 25,000 Silver Shadows made, which is the highest number of all rolls royce to date.  This means parts are much easier to obtain.  As stated previously, the car has not been started in 4 years, however, all the fluids are good and the car has been parked on clean cement, interestingly, not one drip of oil has fallen on the ground which is pretty amazing.  There are a few dents and rust spots on the car here and there, (I would say it needs a paint job) one of the headlights appears to be needing replacement, the air intake on the engine has a small rip right after the air filter.  we dont know what has been replaced on the engine but it appears the starter solenoid or relay has been replaced or something because there are newer style wires there.  the R12 air conditioning system appears original and we do not know if it works or not.  the right rear tail lamp is missing the top portion of the plastic.  there are two trim peices on the car that are missing alone with one on the rear of the trunk. the chrome around the car is in good shape with exception to the left front bumper which has rust. (the front bumper is 5 peices so you only have to rechrome one piece.)  The glass is all perfect.  no chips on the front windshield and the rear windshield has the built in heater core.  the back seats both have the picnic style fold out wooden tables.  these appear to be in good shape.  The wood trim on the dash is average for its age.  A nice new coat of laquer would really set it off.  The nice thing about all the wood in the car is that it is real solid burlwood, not laminate peices like the new rolls royce's have in them.  They are thick and can be sanded down and re lacquered without fear of sanding the wood off.  the car has 99,898 original miles on it.  It was owned and enjoyed by one person for many years until he passed away.  Previous to that, the original owner purchased it at the Rolls royce dealer in Rybrook, Birmingham, England.  The car comes with a spare tire and original tire jack.  We will help with arraingments for shipping, however, we do not have the means to transport it, therefore arraingments will need to be made to pick it up from Granite Hills, San Diego, California. This car is almost 50 years old so please do not expect a perfect car.  This one needs some TLC to get back on the road, but you can rest assured the engine and tranny should be good to go once you fix the above mentioned.

Rolls-Royce Alpine Centenary Ghost makes its first North American appearance

Sun, 18 Aug 2013

Rolls-Royce choose this year's Shanghai Motor Show as the occasion to show off its achingly cool Alpine Trial Centenary Edition Ghost, but The Quail was the site of the car's North American coming out party.
The one-off Rolls pays tribute to a heroic moment in the marque's history, when four 1913 Silver Ghosts, three factory cars and one privateer entry, successfully completed the 1,820-mile Austrian Alpine Trials. The privateer racer in question, James Radley, is the gentleman responsible for the pretty color combination you see on this new Ghost. Radley's blue bodywork over black wheels looked great in 1913 and haven't lost any luster 100 years on to our eyes.
You can revisit the details about this historically rooted Rolls-Royce in the press release below, or simply take a stroll through our fresh gallery of images from The Quail.

Rolls-Royce Ghost gets in the pink for breast cancer charity

Thu, 18 Apr 2013

Rolls-Royce has unveiled a special version of its extended-wheelbase Ghost, called FAB1, with the hopes of helping to raise more than one million pounds (roughly $1.5 million) for a UK charity named Breast Cancer Care. Over the next year, the FAB1 Million Project will see this pink Ghost used to raise money by renting it out for special events and occasions with all of the proceeds going to the charity.
More than just a pretty pink paint job, though, this Ghost demonstrates some of the bespoke options you can order from Rolls-Royce, including pink carpeting, pink leather, pink center caps and even a pink umbrella tucked into the door. The full press release for this Ghost can be found below.

Rolls-Royce Alpine Trial Centenary Collection celebrates century-old Austrian race

Tue, 23 Apr 2013

Among the harvest of premieres at the Shanghai Motor Show was a special-edition Rolls-Royce Ghost to celebrate the 1913 Austrian Alpine Trials. Four Rolls-Royce Silver Ghosts entered the race a century ago, and in completing the 1,820-mile challenge flawlessly earned the sobriquet "The Best Car in the World." The new Ghosts commemorating the feat represent two firsts for the brand: Rolls-Royce has never created a bespoke homage to one of its own cars, and it has never released a car with a black grille.
Those two features, as well as blue paint and black wheels, are in tribute to James Radley's privateer entry in that 1913 race that drove alongside the three factory teams. Other special features include the coachline (pinstripe) that evokes the four cars from the 20th-century race, and inside, a color-matched headliner, a clock with the rally stages and times, and topographical inlays on the front fascia and rear picnic tables.
The 20-Ghost Club will be reenacting the event this year, the parade including Radley's 1913 car. It kicks off in Vienna, Austria on June 14. For the time being you can read the press release below and check out the high-res photos above.
