Here we have a car I thought I would never sell because it's so nice and rare (they only handmade 1570 cars for the whole planet ever). 60,000 miles 5.4 V12 dark blue metallic exterior, light tan interior. But, life brings changes and it has to go. I bought this in Miami FL in 2010 from an insurance company with damage on the passenger side. The damage is to the right fender and both doors. The outside rocker is dented but the floor looks OK. The post between the two right doors is pushed in a few millimeters. The frame rails look good. The front right door panel will need some upholstery work done to it. It drives nice and straight. I drove it from Miami to Seattle without any problems. I put 4000 miles on it so far... Navigation works great too. It took me 4 years to find the doors and fender. I bought both passenger doors used and a brand new fender, all you have to do is have a body guy put them on and paint it. I have the paint too. Has sheepskin mats, original telephone, navigation remote, all original manuals and tools. Tires are good too. I'm selling it as-is. I never even got to a point to start fixing it. Was not fixed or altered in any way. So you get it exactly the same as it was when I bought it! Does not need any other parts, just body work. It will NOT need any further inspections because I had it inspected as-is because the doors still work and it could be driven as-is and it's titled and registered. It does have a branded title showing it was totaled back in 2010.  With the buy it now price I offer FREE shipping anywhere in the USA. It would be shipped on a single car trailer. If the price is anything less than the buy it now then I can still ship it to the west coast (WA, OR, ID, NV, CA and AZ) for $1000 and $2000 anywhere else in the USA. Must be paid in full before shipment. Buyer can also arrange their own shipping leaving zip code 98230 or I can deliver it FREE as far as Seattle WA to a loading dock. Winning bidder must make a $1000 non-refundable deposit via PayPal within 24 Hours and the full payment must be made via cash, cashier check, money order or wire transfer within 48 hours. If paying with a cashier check or money order the car will not be shipped until funds clear.

Former BMW M boss and Maserati CEO killed in freak motorcycle accident

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

It's a tragic coincidence that on the same weekend the BMW M4 Coupe Concept was introduced in Monterey, one of the men most integral to BMW's M and Motorsports divisions, Karl-Heinz Kalbfell, was killed in England. Kalbfell, a vintage motorcycle enthusiast, was set to compete in the Lansdowne Classic Series at Brands Hatch and had an accident during a practice session. After going wide at Druids Corner and falling, he was hit by a competitor following close behind and died of his injuries after being transported to hospital.
Kalbfell, an engineer, began his career at BMW in 1977 in the communications department; a decade later he was chairman of BMW M GmbH, overseeing development of some of the cars responsible for the myth of M. In 1994 he was named chairman of BMW Motorsport, and his cap full of feathers includes getting the BMW V12 into the McLaren F1, getting the BMW V8 into two Morgan cars, along with developing BMW's Formula One engine and return to the sport. Not incidentally, he also assumed leadership of Project Rolls-Royce after BMW bought the British marque in 1998, which means he oversaw the Goodwood factory upfit and the creation of the Phantom.
He left Rolls-Royce for a brief stint at Fiat, heading Alfa Romeo and Maserati, then went into consulting for clients like Lotus and Paragon, who built the Artega GT. As Autocar notes, Kalbfell "had an abiding sense that customers needed to be attracted to cars by their aura and reputation, not just their engineering." He will be missed.

Rolls-Royce Phantom to soldier on through 2020?

Tue, 12 Nov 2013

The more a car costs, the less frequently it's replaced - usually. Take, for example, the Bugatti Veyron. It's one of the most expensive cars on the market, and it's been there for eight years now. Eleven years passed in between the launch of the Ferrari Enzo and that of its successor LaFerrari. Now comes word that the Rolls-Royce Phantom could stick around essentially unchanged until the year 2020.
The report comes from LeftLaneNews, which cites Rolls-Royce communications chief Richard Carter in stating that the Phantom isn't going anywhere fast - despite its massive 6.75-liter V12 engine. The Phantom is the car that essentially relaunched the brand under BMW ownership way back in 2003. It has since spawned long-wheelbase, coupe and convertible models, and underwent a few minor upgrades in 2009. It may yet get another series of enhancements before it's replaced entirely, but don't expect anything drastic within the next half-dozen years or so.
For what it's worth, Rolls-Royce has other things to focus on, and we don't just mean an endless parade of special editions and one-offs for emerging luxury markets in Asia. After launching the Ghost, the company followed up with the Wraith coupe and is said to have a convertible version in the works. An SUV is reportedly under consideration, as is a sixteen-cylinder roadster. But that's not even why the Goodwood-based automaker is stretching out the Phantom's lifecycle like it did its wheelbase: the average Phantom buyer pays a good half million for their new ride, and they wouldn't be too happy to see it replaced quite so soon.

Rolls-Royce Phantom celebrates decade of decadence

Fri, 04 Jan 2013

Ten years ago, Rolls-Royce opened its Goodwood manufacturing facility and handed over the keys to the very first Phantom. Back then, parent company BMW was cranking out Phantom sedans at the blistering pace of one unit per day. By the end of 2003, that number had tripled, and today, the Goodwood plant builds a total of 20 Phantoms in sedan, coupe, drophead and extended-wheelbase models during a single day's working hours. Originally, there were fewer than 400 workers on staff responsible for hand-building the big cruisers, but now the plant boasts over 1,400 craftsmen, with 100 of those positions added in 2012 alone.
Rolls-Royce boasts one of the lowest staff turnover rates of any brand in the industry, thanks in part to a successful apprenticeship and internship program, and the company notes 80 percent of its workers live within 15 miles of the facility. You can read the full press release on the 10th anniversary of both the Phantom and the Goodwood plant below.
