1999 Porsche Boxster Base Convertible 2-door 2.5l Black And Tan Manual on 2040-cars
Seattle, Washington, United States
Selling my 1999 Porsche Boxster in great color combination. This is the base model but has some upgrades such as wood trim e-brake and shift knob. parcel shelf and parcel shelf speakers and equalizer/amp. All leather with power locks and mirrors, abs, four air bags, rims are from a 2007 Cayman. Tires are Michelin pilot sports. 109000 miles or so total on the clock. I have owned for three years and have treated it well. Under my ownership it has gotten a new radiator cap, new fuel filler cap, driver window regulator and just recently a new motor mount. Previous owner did clutch at around 78k and at that time they did air injection pump, rear main seal, belts etc. Have receipts for this work. This porsche drives awesome. I will list it's flaws which are all minor.
Paint shows it age and needs a good detail. Has some stone chips and some dried sap from being parked under a tree that was shedding it seeds last fall. This is not particularly noticeable mostly immediately after a wash if you look close. Soft-top is original but in good condition with no rips or leaks, plastic window is clear and intact. Passenger seat has a 1 inch tear that has not gotten any bigger in the three years I have owned the car. Slight chip in the wood on the underside of the e-brake handle, not really noticeable. Tires have some shoulder wear but are strong in the middle. They are 17's. The badge on the back of the trunk needs to be replaced, I have new badge just never got around to putting it on. Also have new taillight, not sure why just came with the car. Includes wheel locks as well. Steering wheel leather is losing it's color at top. Finally the armrest plastic hinges are broken which means you can just take off the arm rest cover instead of it only rotating up. This can be good because you can put your coffee mug there! I know this car inside and out and have done my own maintenance it just got an oil change with new filter and always mobil 1 200 miles ago. This boxster drives perfect. Great suspension, steers great no mechanical issues whatsoever. I would drive it across the country tomorrow. The car is a blast to drive and I love putting the top down. It's issues are all very minor and generally cosmetic and commensurate with a 15 year old car. I have realized boxster's are the best car for the money by far! Needs: There are currently two minor electrical issues. First is the ever common driver seat belt buckle needs cleaned or replaced and has triggered the airbag light. This is an incredibly common problem with this generation 911 and boxster. Second is the keyless needs to be reprogrammed to the car. I let the key fob go dead for too long it seems and it lost it's synch with the car or so the dealer said to me. Only have one key. |

Malaise Era All-Stars
Fri, 17 May 2013A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:

This is why we love the Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer
Tue, 11 Nov 2014In the world of restomods, Singer Vehicle Designs is inarguably one of our absolute favorites. The company, founded by rocker Rob Dickinson, has made its name as an obsessive constructor of vintage, built-to-order Porsche 911s with modern internals and beautiful accouterments.
Xcar has put together a lengthy interview with Dickinson, covering the source of his fascination with the 911 and his passion for automotive design, before falling into his rock-and-roll days with his band Catherine Wheel. He also covers how he got into the world of modifying Porsches, rather than just restoring them. There's much, much more in the video, though, and we promise, you won't want to miss it.
Take a look.
Race Recap: 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans defines 'endurance'
Mon, 16 Jun 2014Commenting on the rush of events that rocked beginning and end of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Paul Truswell of Radio Le Mans said "the race is about the ability to endure, not just the ability of drivers to do what they do for a long time." The entire race machine, all the way down to the pit boards and radios, has to survive the stress and abuse of the entire day. This was the race to prove those words.
There were two Toyotas, two Porsches and three Audis, five of the seven led the race at some point, six of the seven ran in the top three. Toyota will be hugely disappointed that it didn't win when its car and drivers were so, so strong, but they gave Audi the kind of scare we haven't seen since the best of Peugeot's days, and Toyota did a better job of it even in the loss. Porsche blew away everyone's expectations, falling 3.5 hours short of a fairy tale ending that would have made Disney cry.
But Le Mans doesn't really do fairy tales. Well, not that fairy tale. Audi's Twitter handle during the event was #welcomechallenges. As usual, Le Mans answered for the entire field.
