1987 PORSCHE 944 S
This car is in good condition. No leaks, it is clean in the engine compartment and there is never any leaks or traces of fluids underneath the vehicle where it is parked.  Clean straight body.  There are a few minor dings, but the body is straight and free of rust.  All lights are in good working order, as well as the horn.  There is an upgraded cassette player and stereo installed.  This car has been in the dry desert of Nevada most of its life, so it is not rusty.  Unknown miles. The odometer stopped working at 74k. I do not know for sure, but I think the engine was recently rebuilt. The reason I say this is because the oil is still clean 1000 miles after an oil change, and the person that I bought the car from said that the previous owner went in and re-did everything. (SEE PHOTOS). No power steering.  The power steering is disconnected because one of the pressure hoses has a leak, and I have not bought a new one to put on yet.  The power steering pump and everything works good, but it needs a new pressure hose.  I bought the car a couple months back, it was running rough, but I tuned it up and now it runs good. I have been driving it back and forth to work and it has been running great.

Here is a link to a video of the car going 0-60 mph (it takes it about 8 or 9 seconds, but that is at 5,000 feet of elevation and I had to turn the car onto the highway before I could gas it).  I do not hot rod this car around, but I felt it was necessary to red line it to show the potential buyers that it runs good.

Here is a link to a video of a walk around of the car.  I also started the car from the passenger side, this shows that the car starts up really good.  You don't have to give the car gas or anything like that, it just fires right up.  All of the computer and fuel injection components are in good working order.

Here is a video of the vehicle being started.  It shows that the car starts up with ease.  I also wanted to show that the oil pressure gauge does not work.  As well the voltmeter gauge, sometimes does not work, it will just peg out, like it is in the video, but usually the gauge works good.  I also wanted to show how well the throttle response on this car is.  Listen to the engine purr and how it snaps up to high RPM with just a flick of the peddle.  She can be yours if your the highest bidder :)

Here is a list of new parts that I installed, in order to tune the car up:
New Fuel Filter
New Fuel Pump
New Distributor Cap
New Spark Plugs

I also recently installed the following:
New tires (Only about 1,000 miles on the new tires).
New inner and outer front wheel bearings and seals.
Brakes, rotors and calipers were checked when installing the wheel bearings.  The brake pads still have a lot of life left in them, they have about 70 percent left in them.

This car is fun to drive.  It is a good reliable vehicle, but I am buying a house and I need the money.

I am willing to drive this car up to 200 miles for the cost of gas and a plane ticket home.  I am also willing to help in any way possible to ship the vehicle.  I can deliver it wherever it needs to be delivered in order to get it shipped to you.

Here is what still needs to be fixed:
Drivers seat leather is torn and needs to be re upholstered or needs a seat cover.
The dash has a few cracks in it and could use a cover.
The rear hatch will not stay up on its own and can not be opened using the key.
The oil pressure gauge and odometer do not work.
The stick shift is loose in all gears (will wiggle back and forth).  The car stays in gear just fine and is smooth through the gears.  I think it just needs some new bushings where the linkage connects the stick shift to the transmission.
AC does not work.
The clear coat near the drivers side door is starting to peel and crack a little.
Passenger window does not work, and the passenger door only opens from the inside.
Small crack on passenger side windshield (SEE PHOTOS)
The carpets could use a nice steam cleaning.

I have done my best to list any defects with the vehicle because I am an honest and up front seller.  All and all this is a very nice car.

Only 3,312 of these cars were imported to the US in 1987, and only 5224 were made. A very rare car, it could use some touch up on the interior, but overall its in very nice shape.

Clean and Clear Title In Hand.  Looking at the car fax vehicle report, it shows that there was only 1 minor, non collision accident with the vehicle.  It also shows that the car passed a smog check just a few years ago.  The car was repossessed from the original owner 11 years ago, and then auctioned off.  There was a lean on the car several years back, however there is NOT a lien on the car now.  I have the clean clear title in hand, and I am ready to sign it over to the highest bidder.

Please feel free to ask any questions.  I am more then willing to help with shipping, or getting the vehicle to you.  I can drive to the Reno, NV airport and pick you up in the car, then you can drive it home.  I can also help deliver the vehicle to a shipping hub, or if you are nearby I can drive the vehicle to you for the cost of gas and a ride home.  There is no doubt in my mind that this beautiful Porsche 944 would have no trouble making a cross country trip to its new home!  Good Luck and Happy Bidding :)

Here is some info on the car:

For the 1987 model year, the 944S "Super" was introduced. The 944S featured a high performance normally aspirated, dual-overhead-cam 16-valve 192 PS (141 kW; 189 hp) version of the 2.5 litre engine (M44/40) featuring an self-adjusting timing belt tensioner. This marked the first use of four-valve-per-cylinder heads and DOHC in the 944 series, derived from the 928S4 featuring a redesigned camshaft drive, a magnesium intake tract/passages, magnesium valve cover, larger capacity oil sump and revised exhaust system. The alternator capacity was 115 amps. The wheel bearings were also strengthened and the brake servo action was made more powerful. Floating 944 calipers were standard, but the rear wheel brake circuit pressure regulator from the 944 turbo was used. Discrete '16 Ventlier' script badges were added on the sides in front of the body protection mouldings. Performance was quoted as 0 -- 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.5 seconds and a 232 km/h (144 mph) top speed. It also featured an improved programmed Bosch Digital Motronic 2 Computer/DME with dual knock sensors for improved fuel performance for the higher 10.9:1 compression ratio cylinder head. Like the 944 Turbo, the 944S received progressive springs for greater handling, revised transmission and gearing to better suit the 2.5-litre DOHC higher 6800 rpm rev limit. A Club Sport touring package (M637) was available. Dual air bags, limited-slip differential and ABS were optional on the 944S as was the lightweight 16 inch CS/Sport Fuch forged alloy wheels. This car was raced in Canada, Europe and in the USA IMSA Firehawk Cup Series. Production was limited to two years; 1987 and 1988 only. It was superseded in 1989 by the 'S2' 944 edition.

Porsche celebrates 50 years of 911s with limited edition model

Tue, 04 Jun 2013

Despite being 50 years old now, the Porsche 911 sure is looking good for her age. And to commemorate this milestone anniversary, Porsche has created the 911 50 Years Edition you see here, which will make its debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show - 50 years after the original 911 debuted at this very same expo.
What's really neat about the 50 Years Edition is that it houses a rear-wheel-drive setup inside of the wider body used for all-wheel-drive Carrera 4 and 4S models. Found at the back is the 3.8-liter flat-six from the Carrera S, upgraded with the Powerkit package that increases horsepower from 400 to 430 and includes the Sport Chrono setup. According to Porsche, hitting 60 miles per hour takes just 4.2 seconds with the seven-speed manual transmission, or 3.8 seconds with the optional dual-clutch PDK.
Visual changes include two special paint colors - a darker graphite grey and a lighter geyser grey - unique 20-inch wheels that pay homage to the original Fuchs rollers of the 1963 car, and special badging at the rear and on the door sills. Inside, there are more throwbacks to the original 911, with green labeling on the instruments, white pointer needles and silver accents. What's more, the leather seats feature a fabric insert reminiscent of the Pepita design from the '60s. Looks great to us.

Volkswagen Group previews its wares on eve of Geneva show

Mon, 05 Mar 2012

The Volkswagen Group is comprised of 11 brands producing 240 vehicles across 49 factories throughout the world. So the best way to show off the range of the VW family is to cram a few thousand journalists and VIPs into a massive makeshift stand to outline the Group's goals, what's in the pipeline and what you'll be able to buy later this year.
To that end, VW pulled out all the stops on the eve of the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, bringing along 10 vehicles from across the range. We'll be delving into the details of each over the next two days of show coverage, but before that happens, you can read all about what we saw tonight from the cheap seats after the break.

UK Porsche GT3 owners are irked that other countries are getting better deals

Sun, 27 Apr 2014

Porsche 911 GT3 owners in the United Kingdom are up in arms, but it's not for the reason you might think. Okay, well it sort of is. See, it's been fairly well documented that 911 GT3 owners have had their cars grounded over concerns that the engines could catch fire. Porsche is rushing to build and install replacement engines in all 800 or so cars, scattered around the globe.
This isn't really the issue. The problem for these British owners is compensation. While the car's have been grounded, car notes still need to be paid. To deal with this, American GT3 owners are being paid $2,000 per month. German owners get 175 euros ($242 at today's rates) per day while a GT3 owner in Dubai is allegedly receiving $12,000 (it's unclear if this is a lump sum or a monthly payment). Basically, if you aren't able to drive your six-figure super car, you shouldn't have to pay for it. Seems reasonable regardless of the make.
British owners, though, aren't being compensated, and for 30 to 35 owners, that's not acceptable. They've banded together and are led by Sunil Mehra.
