1987 Porsche 928 S4 Coupe 2-door 5.0l on 2040-cars

Clean 1987 928 S4 for sale. no trades. I've owned the car for 7 years aftermarket: RMB (rear muffler bypass sounds deep and throaty; puts a smile on your face every time you start it up)(don't have the muffler anymore) Momo Steering wheel and Shifter dyed to interior burgundy color. Hi intensity headlights, $1200 windshield with radio antenna, aftermarket CD/radio with removable faceplate condition: clean car. I haven't tracked the car. It was one of a number of old or classic cars I have or hard and didn't use it much up until the last year or two paint: is original I believe but I think the front bumper had been resprayed before I bought it. Paint shows good up up unitil a foot away. has some chips all round. has spider crack around rear pass. lens, (see picture) light scratches in various places. but for a 27 year old car with original paint, I think it shows good. interior is very good. new front seats; has a dash pad split over instrument cluster which was repaired but it came back (see picture). Last 7 year maintenance history (I have all the major service receipts, most parts purchased from 928 International) I bought the car in March 2007 with 79k miles and it needed alot of work. Here's what I did in 07 at 80k miles ( closer to $10k than $5k) Engine: timing belt and new water pump new expansion tank fuel filter new alternator suspension and steering: shocks and springs all around (boge) replaced pressurized power steering hose rebuilt power steering rack alignment a/c head unit (x 2) 12/2011 at 84k service and upgrades ($5k plus) Major brake service: front brake rotors, discs and pads rear parking shoe set front and rear brake pad sensors resurface rear rotors new master brake cylinder fuel filter new OEM front seats (covers) 2012: replaced all four gas struts (engine bay and hatchback) numerous other small repairs over the past 7 years (sunroof switch, rear hatchback switch, engine hood pad, etc.) tires and wheels: Black wheels purchased in February 2013 from Tire Rack (forgot what they are) tires are all about a year and a half old with only a few thousand miles.no appreciate wear fronts and rear passanger are Failkens. Driver's rear is a similiar tread Dunlap. Needed a quick tire change and there was a delay in getting another Failken, so I had the closest one put on. Haven't noticed any difference in the last year, so I haven't replaced the Dunlap. recent new battery (in the past 6 months) it's got a trickle charger plugged into the battery. recent service (last month) oil change (full synthetic) fixed brake sensor light via electric harness repair steering shaft bushing replaced Known issues: heater control valve inoperative. a/c works excellent. heater doesn't unless the valve is manually closed which is a pain. It doesn't get cold enough in Northern California for me to worry about heat so I don't mess with it at the service last month, I had my well regarded porsche shop go through the care since I was planning on selling it and he noted the following as recommendations: v belts and rib belt crack in oil cooler hoses seeping trans cooler hoses leak res to pump hose The car doesn't leak anything to the ground and needs no fluilds top off. I'm going to let the new owner decide which if any of these recommendations to attend to. Reason for sale: I moved to california not too long ago and I wanted a modern convertible porsche, so I bought a 996 t cab. I don't have room to keep the 928. If I did I wouldn't sell it because it's a fun and classy car and I have so much money into it (probably between 15 and 18k in maintenance and upgrades) car is registered in Texas, but currently in the Sacramento Ca. area. I have a couple air filters, one oil filter and the linen and burgandy dyes for the interior which are included. I have two keys and it has the owners manual, spare tire, compressor, tools, custom front windshield reflector). No trades Car can be picked up by buyer or carrier in Davis, Ca. very nice car, wish I had room to keep it or a place to store it. |

Why you must buy an air-cooled Porsche 911 now

Spinelli sits down with Zac Moseley and Mick Prichinello from Classic Car Club Manhattan to first explain why the market for old, air-cooled 911s has gotten so hot over the past few years, and to discuss if it's a bubble that's about to burst. Following that, this video is really is just three guys sitting around talking about old Porsches for 35 minutes. Which, you know, we're pretty onboard with.

Stock Miata beats bunch of high-powered cars in wet 1/4-mile drag race
Thu, 06 Jun 2013When is a stock, 167-horsepower Mazda MX-5 Miata quicker than a Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lotus Elise and a Porsche 911? When it's raining. Sort of.
Mazda Canada arranged a unique drag race to show off the fact that the Miata's optional power retractable folding hardtop can go from top-down to top-up in just 12 seconds flat. In this video, all six cars line up for a drag race, and it starts to rain (well, sort of - but you'll have to watch the video all the way to the end to see what we mean). The green flag is waved, and the timer starts as soon as the convertibles begin to put their tops up. But because the Miata's roof mechanism gets the car's roof back up a full 5.1 seconds quicker than the second-place car, the Mazda gets a serious advantage off the line for the actual drag race.

Noted Porsche collector Magnus Walker learns what a TED Talk is firsthand
Wed, 23 Jul 2014Porsche collector Magnus Walker has the name and looks of a Viking, but once he starts talking about his life story and what drives him, he's an absolutely fascinating guy. Walker recently gave a Ted Talk at a Tedx conference at UCLA and claimed he didn't really understand the idea behind the speeches. You would never know it, though. Walker is as gifted a speaker as he is a talented restorer of some seriously cool Porsches.
Walker's talk is titled "Go with Your Gut Feeling," and it amounts to his autobiography. He recounts his birth in England, dropping out of school at 15 and moving to the US at 19. Once in Los Angeles, he started selling second-hand clothes and grew it into a fashion business.
Of course, what makes him interesting to us is his passion for Porsches. He fell in love with them when he saw a white 911 as a child at the Earl's Court Motor Show in England, but Walker waited until the '90s to buy his first one. From there he started racing and eventually restoring them. Since the documentary Urban Outlaw about him was released, Magnus has become famous for the love of the brand.
