1985 Excellent Condition, Low Miles, Exceptionally Clean, No Reserve on 2040-cars
Merrick, New York, United States
You are
viewing my 1985 Porsche 928S. This car is truly for the vintage sport car
enthusiast. It has never been performance modified, raced or been required to
go through a major restoration to bring it back to life from a neglected
ownership. The low miles
shown on the working odometer are actual. It has never been involved in any
sort of accident. There is no rust through on any part of the sheet metal
structure, all the body panels are exceptionally straight and are in perfect
alignment. The new owner
of the car will not be disappointed. This is an excellent example of the
classic 32 valve S3 series coupe. Read on for a more detailed description of
the overall condition of the car. The interior
is in excellent condition. There are no rips, open seams or tears on the
leather sport comfort seats front and rear. The brown wool carpet is in very
good condition with the exception of the piece on the rear deck that has sun
faded and worn. The dash/instrument panel is excellent, but (not uncommon) there
are a few (3) hairline stress cracks on the top surface of the dash panel. All
gauges are in working condition, upgraded stereo, lights, fans, windows and
heat controls work as well. The AC system is fully charged and blows ice cold
air. The engine
starts right up with no smoke or oil consumption. It idles smoothly with no unusual
noises. Oil pressure holds steady and high when fully warmed up. The car runs
and drives very well. The 4 speed auto automatic transmission shifts smoothly
and quietly. Suspension and steering are very solid with no rattles or wheel
shimmy. When I
purchased the car, it had been off the road since 2001. As part of the
mechanical refresh to make it roadworthy ago the following services were
performed: Upper Engine
– new cam cover gaskets, cam end seals, all new vacuum and oil separation
hoses, new high pressure fuel lines, TPS, Laso water pump, Timing Belt, rebuilt
TB tensioner, new (old stock) OEM spark plug wire set, new Bosch fuel pump,
fuel injectors and much more. Service part receipts and a full photo documentation
of work progression are available upon request. Common
maintenance items - new battery, belts, brakes and Dunlop 225/50-16 speed rated tires at all 4
corners. Cosmetic
Upgrades – new Porsche tinted front glass with built-in antenna, professional
quality base coat\clear coat paint re-spray in the original Grand Prix white
color, earlier model quarter glass rubber with rear spoiler delete kit and H4
Euro headlights. I have tried
to include as many pictures to depict the true condition of the car. Please
e-mail if you have specific questions. Please keep in mind that the car is 29
years old and although excellent condition for its age, due to normal wear and
tear, have realistic expectations for a vehicle that been in service all these
years. This car is
being offered in a no reserve auction with a very modest starting price. Please email and I will promptly assist you
with any questions you may have. Please read the good and bad in the
description above. I will make myself
available for anyone requesting a physical inspection Terms The winning bidder must confirm bid with a
$300 non-refundable deposit within 3 days of close of auction. The balance is
due within 10 days. This car is sold as-is where-is. Local buyers are always
encouraged to inspect in person before bidding. If you would like to have
the vehicle shipped, let me know and I can make arrangements with your vehicle
shipping provider after the listing closes. Buyer pays actual shipping costs. |

2014 Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid is one mean green machine
Sat, 20 Apr 2013The entire Porsche Panamera lineup gets a refresh for the 2014 model year, and new additions to the range include two long-wheelbase models and this E-Hybrid fuel-sipper that makes its debut here at the Shanghai Motor Show. And, well, we say "fuel-sipper lightly."
Porsche has packed its hybrid Panamera with 416 horsepower and 435 pound-feet of torque, and that certainly makes for one quick sedan-hatchback-thing. Hitting 60 miles per hour will reportedly take just 5.2 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 167 mph. And while Porsche hasn't revealed specific powertrain details, the company says that the S E-Hybrid "improves upon the concept offered by the previous Panamera S Hybrid with a more powerful electric motor," which leads us to believe that the supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine at the heart of it all still remains intact.
Fuel economy numbers (or estimates) have not been released as of this writing, but we expect to have that information closer to the car's on-sale date later this year. As for the new battery system, Porsche says that when plugged into a 240-volt charging station, it can be fully charged in just two and a half hours. When topped off, the Panamera S E-Hybrid should have an electric driving range of around 20 miles at speeds up to 84 mph, though, obviously, not at the same time.
1986 Porsche 959 Prototype at Barrett-Jackson sees gavel fall at $440,000 [UPDATE: w/video]
Sat, 19 Jan 2013Fans of Porsche in America have longed for the chance to buy a 959 ever since the German automaker produced and sold it (well, sold it everywhere but the United States...) in the 1980s. Well, they just had their chance. The car you see above is a Porsche 959 prototype built in 1986, and only one other running prototype still exists.
The 959 prototype can't be driven on public roads, as it carries no such certification. Somehow, we doubt that matters all that much to the new buyer - this one is probably going to be sitting in a collection. When the gavel finally fell, bidding had reached $400,000, plus a 10-percent buyer's fee.
Check out our high-res image gallery above to see this prototype up close, and scroll down below to watch a video of it crossing the auction block and for its official auction description.
Road & Track names its 2013 Performance Car of the Year
Thu, 14 Nov 2013Road & Track recently staged its first annual Performance Car of the Year test, pitting 13 new and updated performance cars against each other on track, then graduating the top six to a road test before picking a winner. Additionally, the magazine staff picked the best automobiles of the year in eight categories.
But first, let's cover the PCotY segment. Here's the list of cars brought to the comparison test: Audi R8 V10 Plus; BMW 435i; BMW M6 Competition Package; Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51; Ferrari F12 Berlinetta; Ford Fiesta ST; Jaguar F-Type V8 S; Jaguar XFR-S; Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S-Model Wagon; Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series; Mini John Cooper Works GP; Nissan GT-R Track Edition; and Porsche Cayman S.
To find out the results of the comparison, head over to Road & Track's website or check the press release below, where you'll also find the magazine's top-rated vehicles in eight categories. Want more? Head over to the 2013 PCotY hub. But before you do that, take a stab at guessing the winner of PCotY (we'll give you one hint: it isn't a Porsche).
