1982 Porsche 928 on 2040-cars
Lake Forest, Illinois, United States
One of the best 928 Porsche remaining.
Needs nothing, fully maintained beauty. Since 2012 New timing belt New water pump New fuel damper Two new fuel regulators Stainless steel exhaust New tires, April 2014 Hood and hatchback struts Air flow sensor rebuilt Fuel injectors replaced Replace mass air meter The list goes on. All shop and service manuals are included A few chips in the otherwise flawless, original paint. Very tiny, however I do want to point them out. Rock chips, etc. Great glass, rims, weatherstrips, lines, moldings, really exceptional. I would encourage test drives and inspections, however no disappointments will be endured if you purchase it sight unseen. I reserve the right to end this auction early, as the vehicle is for sale elsewhere. This vehicle is for sale as is and is 32 years old. It has three-five microscopic rock chips and the rubber could use a little wax. Write with any questions. |

How Porsche got Patrick Dempsey into the driver's seat for Le Mans
Tue, 27 Aug 2013How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice. Ask Patrick Dempsey and he'll likely tell you the same secret for landing a role on a hit TV show or, for that matter, driving a Porsche in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
That's because, like McQueen and Newman, Dempsey has earned his place in that rarified field of actors who also race. He's competed in Baja and Grand-Am, co-owns an IndyCar team, and this year returned to Le Mans where he and his teammates Joe Foster and Patrick Long finished fourth in the GTE-Am class behind the wheel of their Porsche 911 RSR.
It's a grueling race, and the fluid transition between drivers behind the wheel is a key element to success. Check out the satirical video below to see how Dempsey and company got ready.
Are you the next Porsche 911 GT3 RS or GT2?
Thu, 17 Apr 2014Porsche typically keeps to a suitably fast schedule when it comes to rolling out increasingly hard-core performance versions of the 911. After the 997 Carrera debuted in 2004, the GT3 version followed in 2006, and by the end of the 2007, Porsche had rolled out both the GT3 RS and GT2 versions. Then the facelifted 997.5 came out in 2008 and it was back to the start: the GT3 came in 2009, the GT3 RS and GT2 RS in 2010, and the GT3 RS 4.0 in 2011. But things have slowed down some with the latest 991 generation.
The new Carrera came in 2011 and the GT3 followed in 2012. By recent history's example, we should have at least two more hardcore models by now, but we don't. Maybe the engineers in Zuffenhausen have had their hands full fixing the spontaneous-combustion issues with the existing GT3, or maybe their attentions have been focused elsewhere altogether. But if these spy shots are anything to go by, it seems like they're back on the job.
Now we don't know if this prototype foreshadows a new GT3 RS or a GT2, but it sure looks more hard-core than the existing GT3 that many purists have derided as too soft, what with its automatic transmission and four-wheel steering.
2015 Porsche Cayenne S
Tue, 23 Sep 2014Oh, Porsche.
Just as the dust settles over the 911 GT3's no manual gearbox kerfuffle, the Germans have gone and yanked the yummy naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V8 from the Cayenne S and replaced it with a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6. Is nothing sacred in Porscheland?
Perhaps not... but that's not necessarily a bad thing. After all, Porsche famously once said they'd never build a diesel, but when they did, it was actually rather stellar.
