Up for auction is this 1972 porsche 914. The porsche recently received a bare metal restoration. To achieve this level of a quality build we started with a mint California non collision zero rust low mileaged car. All doors, hoods, bumpers, interior, drive train, glass and suspension where removed. The porsche was then stripped to bar metal throughout and received three coats of epoxy primer. The porsche then received it's factory color L96D silver metallic two stage paint. No detail was missed with this beautiful repaint close attention was applied to the engine compartment, inside front hood/luggage compartment, rear hood compartment, door post, under side of hoods and door jams. Extensive block sanding gave this porsche a factory straight body no waves or imperfections. The body gaps are true and consistent all the way around. The porsche received all new interior as well as all new rubber throughout. The porsche also received a new front windshield with the green upper tint giving the porsche a new factory look. The two door locks, front hood lock, rear trunk lock and glove box lock all work properly with one factory porsche key. The porsche handles well with newly installed top of the line all four Bilstein shocks/struts and new perfomance rear springs. Porsche also received four new Yokohama P195/60 R15 tires for a true sport handling. The stock factory engine was rebuilt with new high compression pistons and cylinders, rebuilt heads (Car Craft), high volume oil pump, new gaskets, new German muffler, powder coated sheet metal, all new injection rubber. Engine was assembled to factory specs including all heater system in working order. The engine runs like a factory new one plenty of smooth torque. Transmission shift flawlessly into all gears without issues no strange noises. Transmission can down shift from fifth gear to first without grinding. The braking system works well with quick responsive stopping. All the electrical works as it should throughout. This is a must see car in person there is just to much to list hundreds of man hours involved in the restoration of this highly collectable beauty. 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS
Thu, 29 May 2014The Porsche Boxster and Cayman will forever nip at the heels of their big brother, the 911 Carrera, and perpetuating this tradition are the latest GTS variants, which add yet another arrow to the quiver of the plucky mid-engined platform.
The GTS' performance enhancements boost horsepower by a mere 15 and shave a tenth from 0 to 60, but Porsche's clever product planners and engineers have stuck to their familiar formula in making the Cayman GTS more desirable than the Boxster for dyed-in-the-wool performance enthusiasts. More on that shortly.
Laps around Spain's Circuito Mallorca RennArena and the nearby Serra de Tramuntana mountain range would shed further light on how the GTS differentiates itself from lesser Caymans.
Porsche testing four-cylinder Boxster at the N?rburgring
Fri, 09 May 2014Porsche recently introduced a four-cylinder version of the new Macan for markets outside of North America, carrying Zuffenhausen's first four-pot since the 968 ended its production run the better part of two decades ago. But you can bet the compact crossover won't be the only Porsche to get the four banger before all's said and done. These spy shots, we're told, are evidence of just that.
Spotted undergoing testing at the Nürburgring (where else), this modified Boxster, our spy photographers tell us, sounds more like a four-cylinder engine than the flat six that's powered (in displacements ranging from 2.5 liters to 3.4) every version of the little roadster since its introduction in 1996, the year after the last four-cylinder Porsche ended production.
The test mule is also wearing modified wheel arches and aerodynamic aids under the bumpers, front and rear. Just what they're doing there we're not sure, but we'll probably find out sooner or later.
Porsche forum claims eco-friendly 911 Blu coming to Frankfurt
Thu, 01 Aug 2013The fiftieth anniversary of the Porsche 911 has been a nearly year-long affair, with unique tributes and even a special anniversary edition with plenty of retro throwbacks. The party is expected to continue through the end of 2013, and if one 911 enthusiast forum is right, we'll see yet another special edition model near the anniversary of the original car's September 1963 debut, when it arrives at next month's Frankfurt Auto Show.
It's called the 911 Blu, and where the 911 50 Years Edition was more expensive than a 911 Carrera S hardtop, the Blu would be an entry level special edition. That's right, a limited run car that actually slots in at the very bottom of the 911 range. According to Porsche forum 911UK.com, the new car would be priced at 74,600 euros ($98,718 at today's rates) or 64,750 pounds. That undercuts the price of a base 911 in Germany by nearly 16,000 euros and in the UK by nearly 8700 pounds (although to be fair, it's roughly identical to the price of a base 911 C2S in the US).
This 911 will reportedly feature a detuned flat-six with 300 horsepower and 211 pound-feet of torque.
