This car has been garage kept in the Texas panhandle since I bought it in 2001. I moved to and live in Illinois now but it is kept in my parents garage year round. The car is newly registered and inspected in Texas where my parents use it for weekend driving.  I bought the car from Kentucky in really nice condition except that it needed some new gaskets. That prompted me to take everything apart and add the features above since I was already working on it. The interior is original as far as I can tell and needs just a little work. Other than a couple of seat tears the inside is really nice and clean. I put a lot of TLC into the car and have since moved away. I miss the car a lot but I am now raising money for an adoption so the car gets to help our family with that.  My parents are not happy that I am selling their toy, but they are happy to be getting a grandchild out of the deal

We took most of the maintenance out of the car. If you're new to the 914 cars, know what you're buying. The valves have to be set unless converted to hyd lifters. The factory fuel injection is very touchy and costs lots to properly maintain. Carbs take the fuss out of the fuel system with only a simple K&N filter cleaning necessary occasionally.  They're great and fun cars to have and drive and seem to increase in price nicely with some minor work to get them up to snuff. This not a "parts car" but is of the factory chassis, engine, and gearbox. The car is located in the Texas Panhandle. Title is completely original and clear.  I had my parents shoot a couple of videos so you an see how nice it drives.  As you can see this car will make people drool when they first hear and then see it coming.  (Sorry about the wind, it is the Texas panhandle.)

This FL man accused of stealing drivers licenses has best tattoo ever

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

Bentley and Porsche are two of the jewels in Volkswagen Group's luxury brand crown, but in Florida they also have a very tenuous connection with crime. With his multiple face and neck tattoos, including a Bentley logo right between his eyes, Derek Denesevich (pictured above) has been charged with the surprising crime of alleged identity theft. He recently surrendered to a Florida court, and could face seven years in prison, if convicted.
You might wonder where Porsche fits into this. According to the Sun Sentinel, Denesevich's accomplice was one Porscha Kyles, who worked for the Broward Clerk of Courts. She allegedly used her access to driver's license records to steal information and sell it to Denesevich. He is then accused of filing fraudulent income taxes to recoup the refund checks.
According to the Sentinel, Kyles has already pleaded guilty to conspiracy and identity theft and was sentenced to three years and one day in prison. The duo reportedly stole over 100 identities and made at least $120,000. Scroll down for a video about this pair of auto-related criminals.

China may surpass US as Porsche's largest market this year thanks to Cayenne

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

China has already surpassed the United States as the world's largest automotive market, so it's no surprise that one day soon it will be the world's largest Porsche market.
In fact, that day may already be here, as the PRC's Porschephiles outbought their American counterparts in September. Porsche's Chinese dealers sold 4,344 cars last month to America's 3,607. Through all of 2014 so far, though, the US is still the larger market for the German brand.
"The U.S. performed very well this year, after a great year in 2013, but China is growing fast, thanks to the Cayenne which is our best seller there," Porsche's sales and marketing boss, Bernhard Maier, told Automotive News Europe.

'Faster. Farther.' dives into the history of Porsche racing tech

Wed, 07 Aug 2013

No doubt, Porsche has produced some of the best endurance racecars around, such as the turbocharged, slant-nose 935 of the 1970s and the ground-effects-enhanced 956 and 962 of the 1980s. But the company's most famous racecar, its first overall winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, was the 917.
The 917 embodied many of Porsche's technological achievements up to that point, such as the company's first 12- and 16-cylinder engines (the flat-16 was never used in competition), fiberglass bodies that implemented early aerodynamic practices and the use of new, exotic materials, such as magnesium and titanium.
The racecar was commissioned by the head of Porsche Motorsports, Ferdinand Piëch, to win overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970, after he realized a loophole in the rules that allowed cars to compete with engines up to five liters in the Sport category if they were also production models. Piëch saw opportunity: the top prototype class was restricted to three liters; the production minimum to compete in Sport was 25 cars. And so, with much effort, Porsche assembled 25 "production" 4.5-liter 917s and had them parked in a neat line for the race inspectors to verify their legitimacy. It didn't take long before people realized the new Porsches were much faster than the prototype racers, with a top speed approaching 250 miles per hour.
