  • All drive train swap and cooling system hardware provided by Renegade Hybrids
  • Mid-engine 5.7 litre all aluminum, Fuel injected, Pontiac motor.
  • Dyno tuned by Extreme Performance.

  • Walker Dynomax mufflers with additional baffles in the pipes before the outlets. Exhaust system completely Jet-Hot ceramic coated, including manifolds. Dual center exhaust exits below bumper, through valance panel. The exhaust system, with heat shields is mounted high and does not show from behind car. It is not loud, but has throaty rumble..
  • Rebuilt 901 transaxle, by Renegade, re-geared to match LS-1 motor.  First gear was blocked, as it is un-supported.  It is now a wide ratio four speed: 3rd gear 1:1, 4th gear O.D.
  • Porsche Boxter 4 piston Brembo brake calipers with braided steel lines, on cross drilled 911 ventilated rotors at all four wheels and 911 parking brake conversion.
  • 911 front suspension with under body sway bar, 930 tie rod ends, Koni strut inserts and a 22mm torsion bar.
  • Powder coated rear suspension with Bilsteen rear shocks, 200lb springs and 911 half shafts and joints. Control arms and surrounding sheet metal have been reinforced with additional steel plates welded in.

  • 914/6 steel flares with fiberglass flared front and rear valance panels.
  • New body and roof seals.
  • Black interior is complete with nice original 914 seats, new carpeting, coco floor mats, LED interior lighting. The dash pad has been replaced. Includes a custom made center console with a GTO arm rest assembly. Interior and doors have been completely Dyna-matted, with additional sound proofing / insulation over the firewall. Has cold underdash A/C and a push-in style fuse panel.

This 914 pulled 203 MPH on a calibrated, 4th gear dyno run.  Additional dyno runs done in 3rd.  In real life, it accelerates extremely quick and comes out of 3rd gear at indicated 130 MPH, but it gets a little light and needs an aero package (or a driver with more balls...) to go much above that. This mid-engine car corners like it is on rails under acceleration.  Stops well and straight.  This car has around 3000 miles since conversion. It has been done correctly and is a pretty well sorted, mechanically complete car. Not counting the labor, this car could not be duplicated for the asking price.

Bid only what you are willing and able to pay. Transportation is responsibility of buyer. It may be viewed by appointment. No free rides.

Noted Porsche collector Magnus Walker learns what a TED Talk is firsthand

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

Porsche collector Magnus Walker has the name and looks of a Viking, but once he starts talking about his life story and what drives him, he's an absolutely fascinating guy. Walker recently gave a Ted Talk at a Tedx conference at UCLA and claimed he didn't really understand the idea behind the speeches. You would never know it, though. Walker is as gifted a speaker as he is a talented restorer of some seriously cool Porsches.
Walker's talk is titled "Go with Your Gut Feeling," and it amounts to his autobiography. He recounts his birth in England, dropping out of school at 15 and moving to the US at 19. Once in Los Angeles, he started selling second-hand clothes and grew it into a fashion business.
Of course, what makes him interesting to us is his passion for Porsches. He fell in love with them when he saw a white 911 as a child at the Earl's Court Motor Show in England, but Walker waited until the '90s to buy his first one. From there he started racing and eventually restoring them. Since the documentary Urban Outlaw about him was released, Magnus has become famous for the love of the brand.

Chris Harris condemns demonization of Porsche Carrera GT in wake of Walker death

Fri, 06 Dec 2013

When something bad happens, it's easy to resort to scapegoating. At least for some of us, that seems to be exactly what has happened following the tragic death of actor Paul Walker and racer Roger Rodas, who were killed on November 30 in a Porsche Carrera GT. Even though officials have not yet determined the cause of the crash, that isn't stopping many theories from being put for - theories that include blaming the Porsche supercar. Rather predictably, not only is the CGT's difficult nature getting examined, but indeed, the nature of all high-performance cars is being put under the public's microscope, with some wondering what the need for all the power is.
A Google search of "Porsche Carrera GT" will find no shortage of articles about the razor-sharp handling and outright speed of the CGT. Pistonheads' Chris Harris has a different, insightful take on both the Carrera GT and the nature of all fast cars. He reflects on the matter, ironically, en route to drive the successor to the car that killed Walker and Rodas, the 900-horsepower 918 Spyder hybrid supercar.
We think it's well worth a read, as it makes a number of good points about modern high-performance automobiles and the way they're used. Click over and take a look.

Leno buys classic Porsche 356 Carrera 2, seeks out and finds perfect expert for help

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

The world of collector cars is fairly tight-knit when you get down to individual models. Need proof? Just take a look at this latest video from Jay Leno's Garage. The subject is a gorgeous 1963 Porsche 356 Carrera 2. Jay, being known as quite a collector, got a call from someone looking to sell. While doing his due diligence and looking for a 356 expert to go over the car with him, he came across John Willhoit.
Where the story gets weird is when Leno is asked the license plate number - it turns out that Willhoit, owner of Willhoit Restorations, had restored the exact same car more than 30 years prior. He then sold it to the same person that was looking to give it to Leno. What follows is a truly interesting video on the little quirks of the 356, along with Willhoit's personal history on a car he hadn't seen since 1976.
This is a bit more mechanically detailed than Leno's normal videos, but it's on a very interesting subject. Take a look below for the entire film.
