Porsche 912e 1976 Gorgeous California Car, Immaculate & Ready To Show, enjoy. on 2040-cars

Year:1976 Mileage:3200

This is my personal Porsche 912E, very reluctant sale, and one of the best cars I have ever owned. I went from a 1974 911S where the maintenance was eating me alive, to this incredible, reliable, wonderful car which actually has a lighter feel, is nearly as quick, and sips fuel in the 30plus MPG range. During my five plus years of ownership the car has had a completely rebuilt engine (2 years ago) with all top quality German parts, and at the time a new clutch, new clutch cable, accelerator cable, transmission bushings, and many other mechanical refreshments to a rust free, accident free car that had faithfully carried its one previous owner over many miles. There are only about 3200 miles on the rebuild, and brakes, suspension, etc are superb and tight. I fitted a new set of Pirellis all around to the beautiful Fuchs wheels, then just in the past year I chose to have the car repainted to an extremely high standard. We took the car all the way down to bare metal, found only the slightest areas of subtle corrosion near door bottoms which were completely remedied, and we also removed the glass to create a completely result around the all important windscreens and backlight. The often troublesome door stops were completely rebuilt and re-inforced, undetectable but the repair will last forever. The glass was replaced front and rear with all new rubber seals, and the car had rear upholstery work, parcel shelf replacement, and new genuine leather seats in the correct factory patterns. The dash had minor hairline cracks from the southern California sun, so a very high grade dash recovering was achieved while the windscreen was out, in the correct color, and it looks great. As a final touch inside, the leather luggage straps were replaced with factory type originals and they can be very useful as all the hold downs are in place (often lost on sloppy restorations).

As can be seen in the photos, the car is beautiful in the luggage area, and comes with a factory manual, as well as the complete factory tool roll with all the German tools, and the jack and tire iron roll. There is a photo where the new battery lives showing Zero rust in this often bad area, and never a bit of nose accident damage. Also a new factory grille badge had to be installed. Any interested party may send any experienced inspector to check out the car. Everything works except the clock, and it drives like a dream. It starts on a dime with all its original factory fuel injection intact, and an all new exhaust system including the pipes from the heads all the way to the tip. The heater boxes are both fitted and in excellent shape, giving wonderful odor free heat and defrost as they should. Toasty in the winter! The engine does not leak, being virtually new, but had all the important ancillaries including a factory new oil cooler fitted, and the oil and filter (German filters only) have been changed every 1,000 miles. On the hottest days, the oil temp stays right where it belongs, and I don't hesitate to take this car anywhere. You could have the wheels polished if you want a show car, and perhaps a bit more detailing in the engine room, or show and drive this car as it truly needs nothing. A great Blaupunkt radio with Alpine speakers makes for nice entertainment, with a removable flex antenna (all new with the repaint).

Happy to show the car during the auction to real bidders, or qualified inspectors or mechanics. This is the real thing and the new owner will have something to be proud of that can be enjoyed for many trouble free years to come. See my feedback. I have sold some of my collection in years past, but I never thought it would be this one. The reserve is extremely reasonable for a car this well sorted from a rust free, crash free history. Bid with confidence. Reserve will not be disclosed and the auction will run to the end. Many thanks for understanding, but this car will go at a fair price to a new owner who is getting a real jewel.

Porsche Cayenne shows a bit more face, plug-in spotted

Fri, 14 Mar 2014

Porsche was first rumored to be working on a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the Cayenne over a year ago. However, we had never seen it, until now. The new model was caught almost completely undisguised while testing. In another stroke of luck, we got a glimpse of the upcoming facelift for Porsche's SUV (pictured above) as well.
According to the spy shooter, it was windy during the cars' cold weather testing. The cover blew off of the facelifted Cayenne, and there was enough time to snap these pictures before it could be hidden again. The changes are all quite minor but jive with what we saw the last time it was spied. The rear still wears some cladding but is expected to be hiding lights similar to the Macan.
The second gallery shows off the upcoming Cayenne PHEV. It looks nearly identical to the standard model, except for the extra panel on the driver's side of the car that hides the electric port. One image even shows the car plugged in. The new version is expected to use the same supercharged 3.0-liter V6 and 9.4-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack with a combined 416 horsepower and 435 pound-feet of torque from the Panamera S E-Hybrid. We enjoyed the system when we tested it last year. It's rumored to debut on the SUV sometime this year.

2014 Porsche Cayman S

Second Fiddle Moves To First Chair
In the interest of full disclosure and a bit of bloodletting, allow me to admit that while I've always coveted the Porsche Boxster and its hard-hatted Cayman cousin, I've never really warmed to them visually. They've always had a certain push-me, pull-you, can't-decide-which-way-they're-going aesthetic that I've never really wrapped my head around. Porsche achieved the same thing with the original 550 Spyder's overturned bathtub bodyshell that would come to inspire the Boxster, but somehow that classic's even more symmetrical nature works for me. Fast-forward to this third generation, and at least for this enthusiast, Porsche's manchild has well and truly come of age as a design.
It's all there - a piercing stare thanks to squircle headlamps inspired by the 918 Spyder hypercar, newfound directional thrust afforded by a longer wheelbase and elongated greenhouse, and muscular rear haunches with a wider stance emphasized by larger side ductwork and snubbed overhangs. The body's teardrop shape terminates with an active spoiler that integrates into a gorgeous arc with the taillamps like a budding ducktail nod to 1973 911 Carrera RS. Despite casting a longer shadow than its predecessor, the 2014 Cayman still looks tidily proportioned, smooth and wieldy, the perfect skipping stone to ricochet down a canyon river road.

Porsche 918 Spyder officially priced from $845K, Weissach package $84K more

Wed, 23 Jan 2013

Porsche has released official pricing for its entire lineup of 2013 models, which just happens to include the upcoming 918 Spyder hybrid supercar. The 795-horsepower advanced-technology-lab-on-wheels is now officially confirmed to have a starting price of $845,000 in the US, which is the exact amount we were told earlier when we had the opportunity to ride shotgun in some 918 Spyder pre-production test vehicles.
What we didn't know at the time was the cost of the Weissach trim package, which is a high-performance upgrade to the standard vehicle that includes the deletion of some interior amenities and addition of lighter-weight carbon fiber appointments, magnesium wheels, flame-resistant upholstery, racing belts and aerodynamic aids - it's meant for track-going folk who intend to use their 918 Spyders as God, country and manufacturer intended.
All told, the Weissach package should drop the 918 Spyder's curb weight by some 80 pounds, while also lightening your wallet of an additional $84,000 - the car's MSRP with the Weissach package is $929,000. These prices don't, however, include destination charges, which, for something like the very limited edition 918 Spyder (only 918 will be made), could very well cost considerably more than your average Porsche.
