HISTORY

Car was originally from California, last 10 years lived in Eugene, Oregon. The last owner was a former Porsche mechanic and later owned a Porsche-Audi Dealership in Oregon. A lifelong member of PCA and a collector, this was his last Porsche 912 in his collection. Now over 80 years old he sold the car to me and moved to Florida. I knew of the car through the many car clubs I belong to, and meet him over 20 years ago. I now must sell because of other cars in my collection and storage space.

CONDITION

The car is fully rust free, original sheet metal and panels, never wrecked to my knowledge. The condition of the car is very nice, EVERYTHING on the car is factory original, seats, interior, radio, dash, panels, carburetors, air cleaners, body stickers, body tags, and even the undercoating, etc. I had the car painted in original Slate Gray (color code 8601) by a very professional painter. The paint is very nice with a complete trim and glass out. The car did need painted after 42 years, I used correct factory color. Mileage is now 53,500 but unknown as to being correct, the title shows mileage exempt for age.

This is a very rare car in a rare paint color (Steve McQueens favorite). This is one of the last Porsche 912's ever built, some say the long wheel base 912 handles the best of all early Porsches,  made only one year in 1969 with less then 3200 built. These cars in this condition are very hard to find. This is not a restored car but a ORIGINAL CAR. As I say "ORIGINAL ONLY ONCE". It would add to any collectors fleet or can be a daily driver getting 26 mpg, with a strong engine. Transmission has been rebuilt, original solex carburetors have been rebuilt. I cannot find a fault with this car, runs strong, shifts nice, ready to use and own.

TERMS

A $1000 NONREFUNDABLE deposit to the highest bidder paid to Paypal or Bank Transfer no exceptions. Car is sold AS IS WHERE IS WITH NO WARRANTY, I recommend a PPI. Bid with confidence, car has a low reserve for its value and will be sold. Here is a chance to buy from a Private Owner not some high end auction house who charges very high fees and still does not know the car. Free and clear Oregon title.

This is why we love the Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer

Tue, 11 Nov 2014

In the world of restomods, Singer Vehicle Designs is inarguably one of our absolute favorites. The company, founded by rocker Rob Dickinson, has made its name as an obsessive constructor of vintage, built-to-order Porsche 911s with modern internals and beautiful accouterments.
Xcar has put together a lengthy interview with Dickinson, covering the source of his fascination with the 911 and his passion for automotive design, before falling into his rock-and-roll days with his band Catherine Wheel. He also covers how he got into the world of modifying Porsches, rather than just restoring them. There's much, much more in the video, though, and we promise, you won't want to miss it.
Take a look.

Hyundai, Porsche top J.D. Power APEAL study

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

Just as they did in the Initial Quality Study, Porsche and Hyundai have taken the premium and non-premium crown, respectively, for the 2014 J.D. Power APEAL study. This is the tenth consecutive year for that Porsche has been rated the best premium make in the APEAL study, which attempts to figure out how pleased owners are with their purchases. For 2014, it asked 86,000 owners of MY2014 cars to rate their vehicles in 77 different categories 90 days after their initial purchase. The resulting figures were plugged in deliver the APEAL score, which is rated on a 1,000-point scale.
The industry average sits at 794 points for 2014, although that's a one-percent decline over last year's rating. In this year's study, premium brands averaged 840 out of 1,000, while non-premium makes average 785. For their part, Porsche netted an impressive 882 points, while Hyundai earned an 804. Interestingly, only four non-premium brands (Hyundai, Ram, Volkswagen and Mini) finished above the industry average for 2014.
It's also interesting to see the clear delineation between premium and non-premium brands, with an eight-point gap between the non-premium champ, Hyundai, and the lowest-rated premium brand, Volvo.

Road & Track names its 2013 Performance Car of the Year

Thu, 14 Nov 2013

Road & Track recently staged its first annual Performance Car of the Year test, pitting 13 new and updated performance cars against each other on track, then graduating the top six to a road test before picking a winner. Additionally, the magazine staff picked the best automobiles of the year in eight categories.
But first, let's cover the PCotY segment. Here's the list of cars brought to the comparison test: Audi R8 V10 Plus; BMW 435i; BMW M6 Competition Package; Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51; Ferrari F12 Berlinetta; Ford Fiesta ST; Jaguar F-Type V8 S; Jaguar XFR-S; Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S-Model Wagon; Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series; Mini John Cooper Works GP; Nissan GT-R Track Edition; and Porsche Cayman S.
To find out the results of the comparison, head over to Road & Track's website or check the press release below, where you'll also find the magazine's top-rated vehicles in eight categories. Want more? Head over to the 2013 PCotY hub. But before you do that, take a stab at guessing the winner of PCotY (we'll give you one hint: it isn't a Porsche).
