1968 Porsche 912 Coupe

Background:

The Porsche 912 was a sports car that was manufactured by a company by the name of Porsche between the years of 1965 and 1969. It was built as an entry level vehicle for those who craved a 911, but could not afford the cost. The 912 is a very well balanced vehicle, and would be considered a nimble-handling compact performance four-seat vehicle. The 912's flat four cylinder engine made 90 horsepower at 5800 rpm, and was capable of delivering 30 miles per gallon. This was due to the low weight, and low drag of the vehicle. Making the 912 the best of both worlds in terms of sports cars, the stylish look of a 911 and the gas mileage of modern day Prius. At one time the 912 grew so popular that it was able to out sell its counterpart, the 911!

Background:

The 912 is a great weekend cruising vehicle, it may not have a lot of power but it sure will capture the envy of all your neighbors! This 912 spent almost its entirelife in the southweastern part of the United States, and has been residing in Arizona since 1991 when the last owner purchased the car. It is a very, very solid car with all original sheet metal floor pans. The car was originally order in Tangerine (6809) with Black Leatherette interior. However, it was repainted in the 90's to the black that you see before you. This is a matching numbers car, and the mileage is actual at 62K. This 912 also features very rare option of air conditioning. Other options that were ordered at the time of purchase would be: Tinted Glass All Around, Bumper Horns-F/R, Antenna, 'Koni' Shock Absorbers, Ventilated Chrome Wheels, and Semperit Tires (165/15). However, the Chrome Wheels were switched to a factory set of Fuch wheels some time in the past. Recent work to the vehicle includes an engine rebuild, and a complete carb rebuild.

This 912 is a very straight, solid driver type of vehicle. Or a perfect candidate for someone looking to restore a rust free car back to its original form! Some cons are that the seats have begun to split at the seam in a few areas. However, this is a very easy, and inexpensive fix that can be done.

The current NADA value on this vehicle is top retail at $40,200. The car is priced to sell, and is in need of a new owner who will either enjoy the vehicle as it is, or take it back to its glory day!

2015 Porsche Panamera Exclusive Series is a seriously quick way to spend $260k

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

Porsche is usually associated with being a sports car brand, but with vehicles like the Cayenne and Panamera it takes a step into the world of luxury against firmly established players like Mercedes-Benz. One way for the company to poke its head above the high-class fray is by taking things further, and in the case of the Panamera Exclusive Series at the Los Angeles Auto Show, it means pushing grandeur to extreme levels.
Coming in at an absolutely eye-watering $263,900, plus $995 destination, the Panamera Exclusive starts its life as the already sumptuous Panamera Turbo S Executive with a 4.8-liter, twin-turbo V8 making 570 horsepower on an extended wheelbase. To help justify the extra $63,000 for the Exclusive, though, the model gets 20-inch black Sport Classic wheels and an interior in swaddled in Nappa leather with dark walnut and piano black trim. Rear passengers also get 10.1-inch touchscreens mounted on the back of the front seats. A set of fitted Poltrana Frau leather luggage is included with each one, as well.
The luxurious sedan earns it Exclusive moniker because just 100 of them are being made worldwide. Scroll down to read about Porsche's ultimate limousine.

Porsche 960 could come with quad-turbo flat-eight engine

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

Getting a bead on the target that is the so-called Porsche 960 is not easy, as the target keeps moving. First labeled the 960, then the 961, and now back to being called the 960, it is Porsche's take on a supercar specifically aimed at Ferrari - the latest report in Automobile says that Porsche's internal moniker for it is "FeFi," which stands for "Ferrari Fighter." Because it is expected to cost as much as the top-tier V12 Ferrari, Porsche wants the engine solution to justify the price tag. That means, according to author Georg Kacher, a 3.9-liter, quad-turbo flat-eight engine with 650 horsepower.
Last summer, the engine was mooted to be a twin-turbo flat six. A few months later, the rumor was that it would use the 4.6-liter V8 from the 918 and have about 570 horsepower. This new mid-engine configuration would be quite the leap, giving the 960 more power than the 918 Spyder (pictured) and 911 GT2 RS, and utilize other tech features like four adjustable camshafts and "a complex multistage intake manifold." In this scenario, power would be run through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.
Build materials are still slated to be a hodgepodge of materials including aluminum, steel, carbon fiber, titanium and magnesium. The boosted flat-eight, all-wheel drive and a 3,000-pound weight could get the 960 from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 2.5 seconds. Since it is looking squarely at Ferrari, the idea that the 960 will be a "four-door coupe" can probably be put to rest. For now.

eBay Find of the Day: 1981 Porsche 928 convertible by Carelli

Wed, 30 Apr 2014

The Porsche 928 was perhaps the consummate European GT of its day. With a powerful front-mounted V8 engine that grew in displacement as the model years went on, it was capable of eating up the miles at triple-digit speeds in great comfort for occupants. It was also an unusual beauty, with its sharp front and curved rear featuring innovative integrated bumpers.
Currently for auction on eBay Motors is one of the rarest 928s you're likely to find, in a handsome combination of Guards Red paint and tan leather interior, though we wouldn't mind a less-showy finish to the factory wheels. According to the seller, this car is one of eight 928 convertibles by Carelli Design, a firm that's still in business.
The auction claims that these cars were made in 1981 as a feasibility study between Carelli and Porsche for a possible production 928 convertible. The seller says he worked at the dealership where the car is said to have been originally sold $103,000. To remove the roof and hide the convertible top, there were significant changes made to the body and interior, including redesigned doors and a completely new trunk. As you can see in the gallery, when down, the top is completely hidden in a very factory-like fashion. When up, it looks slightly awkward, though (and we'd really like to see a rear three-quarter view to check out the blind spots).
