1968 912 Soft Window Targa
11870181 Engine number 1280763 4 speed Transmission Light Ivory with Red vinyl interior 34,988 miles, yes just 34,988 miles I purchased the car to restore and keep in my collection. The original owner sold me his car in 2010, and I have just recently completed the comprehensive restoration. The car was purchased on the European delivery program, driven in Europe, shipped to New York, and driven to California. The owner was an Engineer who drove the car sparingly for about 10 years. He then took what was to be a temporary job in Asia, and ended up staying for 30 years. The car sat unused for the 30 years. This original black plate California car never had any rust, accidents, or was ever taken apart before I began the restoration in 2011. In my 30 years of Porsche Restorations I have never seen such a straight rust free example. Unfortunately the rubber, trim, lights, lenses, and interior did not fare so well sitting in the California sun. The following is a list of most of the things I have done:
A 35K mile 912 does not drive like a tired 40 year old one. It is an absolute pleasure to drive, running, shifting, and braking like a new 912 would have. When will another 912 with this kind of history and work done to it ever become available again? I unfortunately need to sell one car from my collection. I also have for sale a 1985 911 Carrera M491 car. When one sells the other will be taken off the market. This car does not smoke and does not drip oil and is ready for 50 more years of driving enjoyment. I have been selling Porsche cars on ebay for 15 years and have over 190 positive feedbacks and one negative. The negative came from a buyer clicking on the buy it now without doing any inspection or even asking questions and was unhappy that a 30 year old 911 was not mechanically perfect. Please ask your questions before bidding. I can take any other picture you may request. Reputable shops are available to perform a PPI at the buyers expense The car is advertised locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time Cal Weber 949 212-4834 Orange County, CA I can help arrange international shipping. I have a very reasonable reserve on this car |

Get lost in Evo's sublime 2013 Car of the Year testing
Fri, 08 Nov 2013Every year Evo stages its Car of the Year test, bringing the best performance cars in the world to one location for an epic shootout. This year the magazine pitted eight CotY finalists against each other on Route Napoleon in Southern France - Evo claims it's the "best road in the world" - and then proceeded to nitpick the smallest of faults on each car until the winner could be named. You see, this year's lineup of machines was just so good that only one car obviously wasn't CotY material from the get-go. Can you guess which one judging from the list below?
- Aston Martin V12 Vantage S
- Audi R8 V10 Plus
Stock Miata beats bunch of high-powered cars in wet 1/4-mile drag race
Thu, 06 Jun 2013When is a stock, 167-horsepower Mazda MX-5 Miata quicker than a Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lotus Elise and a Porsche 911? When it's raining. Sort of.
Mazda Canada arranged a unique drag race to show off the fact that the Miata's optional power retractable folding hardtop can go from top-down to top-up in just 12 seconds flat. In this video, all six cars line up for a drag race, and it starts to rain (well, sort of - but you'll have to watch the video all the way to the end to see what we mean). The green flag is waved, and the timer starts as soon as the convertibles begin to put their tops up. But because the Miata's roof mechanism gets the car's roof back up a full 5.1 seconds quicker than the second-place car, the Mazda gets a serious advantage off the line for the actual drag race.
It's a fun video. And while we've spoiled the results (come on, the video was uploaded by Mazda, you knew the Miata was going to win), be sure to see how it all unfolds, below.
Porsche 911 RSR stops just long enough to have its photo taken
Tue, 04 Mar 2014When it comes to Porsche and its rapidly escalating endurance racing program, all eyes may be on the new 919 Hybrid - and with good reason: that's the vehicle with which Porsche will be challenging the likes of Audi and Toyota for wins in the top-tier LMP1 class of the FIA World Endurance Championship and at Le Mans. But it's the 911 RSR that does and will continue to form the backbone of the factory's effort.
The 470-horsepower racing version of the road-going 911 took a one-two finish in its class at Le Mans last year, and also won its class at the Daytona 24 this past January as well. This year Porsche will field two of them in the WEC, another two in the United SportsCar Championship here in the US and will sell countless more to customer racing teams that will undoubtedly continue to rack up trophies in racing series around the world. This, then, might be a unique chance to see one standing still. Check it out in our gallery of live images above from the Geneva Motor Show.
