This is a 1968 Porsche 912.  I consider this car a project at this time.  It has some rust areas but in my opinion is worth saving.  It is a late 1968 model and is a long wheelbase car.  The car is fairly complete minus the engine which was replaced by a VW based type 3 1600 engine with dual single barrel solex carburetors.  I do not have the original engine. This car was a driver 3 years ago and I did drive it but has sat outside since then. I have not attempted to drive the car and it would need to be trailered. And again I feel it is a project car.  
Lets start with the good.  Clear Florida title.  Car has original steel wheels and hub caps, including spare, and jack.  Original interior in decent shape, houndstooth insert seats that have a few small tears in them.  Seat belts and some of its carpet (unfortunately not all), 5 gauge dash.  It looks as though the dash was taken off, leather removed and covered with a painted fiberglass?, not sure but it looks good.  All glass is original minus the windshield.  All mirrors, trim, badge, emblems are all present.  Wheel wells are pretty clean front and rear.  Chrome is good on the car. Original 5 speed transmission that shifts smoothly.  Doors and door bottoms are in good shape, body is straight.  Hood and deck lid are in good shape.  Car was originally silver and still shows areas of silver but also areas of primer.   
Now for the bad.  It is missing its original engine.  The VW type 3 engine was placed in and tin work done to seal the engine bay.  No alterations to the engine bay were done.  It does have some typical rust issues.  Patch work on the floorpans have been done. Rear corner lowers of  The front bumper is rusted beyond repair and will need to be replaced.  The front apron is slightly rusted along with the a small section of the battery tray but the front fenders are in good shape and front trunk area is clean and rust free.  It has a nice smugglers box area.  Some rust under the right rear seat area.    
I had the notion in me to part the car as I have several projects/ running cars but I feel that the car is in good enough shape to have something done with it besides parting it. 
I reserve the right to stop the auction at anytime.  If you are local and would like to come and see the car, I am more than happy to help any way that I can.  I will not toe the car somewhere to have it looked at though.  It is a no reserve auction.
Long hood early cars are getting harder to find complete.  Does this one need some love?  Of coarse it does, thats the fun in it, right?

Porsche acquires ANDIAL, will integrate with in-house motorsports

Porsche has purchased longtime motorsports and tuning house ANDIAL.
The Fountain Valley, California-based tuning house ANDIAL has been around since 1975, when it was formed by the Arnold Wagner, Dieter Inzenhofer and Alwin Springer (the company got its name by combining two letters from each of their names). The three men met while working in a Porsche dealership in Southern California and then left to start a business that would put Porsches in victory lane all over the country.
Porsches prepared by ANDIAL won IMSA GT and Supercar Series championships, the SCCA World Challenge, four Pikes Peak class titles and the 24 Hours of Daytona six times. Alwin Springer left the company in 1997 to run Porsche Motorsport North America until 2004 and remains a consultant with PMNA, Wagner passed away in 2011 and Inzenhofer plans to retire this year. ANDIAL is still a going concern, Inzenhofer presiding over a scaled-down engine parts and restoration business. But Inzenhofer is retiring at month's end, making it a good time for Porsche to step in and take over the company's operations.

2014 Porsche Cayenne Platinum Edition is the ace of base

If there's one automaker that certainly doesn't skimp on the special edition models, it's Porsche, and here at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, we're getting our first look at yet another unique take on one of the company's most popular models. It's called the Cayenne Platinum Edition, and while many special models build off of higher-trim vehicles, this one adds a bit of flair to the most basic version of the luxury SUV.
The Platinum Edition is available on Cayennes with the base 3.6-liter V6 or the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6. Platinum models are set apart from other models with the addition of silver exterior accents on the grilles, window trim and rear spoiler, as well as the two-tone, black-and-beige interior scheme. It also comes standard with the eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission, Power Steering Plus, Park Assist, the Convenience Package and Bose audio.
The cost of entry? $63,000 for the naturally aspirated Cayenne or $66,900 for the diesel. That's a full $13,000 more than the base model, but Porsche says it's actually a bargain as opposed to selecting all of those options individually. Have a look below for Porsche's official release.

Porsche 918 Spyder gets tiny recall for rear control arms

As the recent US recall of a single Koenigsegg Agera shows, even low-production supercars aren't immune from safety campaigns. Now, there's another example that even the fastest cars can have their faults. The Porsche 918 Spyder is a pretty fantastic vehicle for its ability to mix hybrid fuel economy and incredible amounts of power, but Porsche has a problem on a few units of its halo model.
According to the recall document from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Porsche needs to inspect and possibly repair five 918s in the US because the rear axle control arms may break, which could cause a loss of control while driving. In the full defect notice, Porsche says that it first noticed the problem on June 26 when the parts failed during "heavy duty durability testing (extreme race conditions)" at the Nardo test track in Italy. It transported the components back to the company's lab for inspection, and on July 18 it issued a stop-sale to inspect the suspension parts on the supercar. The automaker also contacted owners by phone to warn them not to use the car on track, until repaired.
The affected 918s will be inspected, and if the cars have the bad parts, the control arms are will be replaced. Obviously, this will be done at no cost to owners. According to a Porsche spokesperson speaking to Autoblog, in addition to the five US cars potentially affected, there were 45 worldwide. All of the cars have now been checked.
