Sc Sunroof Coupe - Low Reserve! on 2040-cars

Year:1982 Mileage:159623
Location:

Alvin, Texas, United States

Alvin, Texas, United States

This is a very clean and solid Porsche 911 SC.  It has spent most of it's life in East Texas. The car is currently owned by the 3rd owner who has had it since 1987 and used it for his daily driver until he retired about 12 years ago. It has seen very little use since then - in fact only about 10,000 miles.  He has moved to Florida and decided not to take it with him and has asked me to sell "his Baby" for him.  I am not a dealer, just a friend and the car is in Alvin, Texas if you want to pre-inspect it.

It is well maintained with a stack of receipts for things done to it over the years.  It has the original owners manuals and tool kit.  Clear Texas title with no liens.

Here is what I know:  repainted by a high end paint shop in 2002 in same original Gray color.  New seat Upholstery 2011, AC is upgraded to 134a, Timing chain tensioner upgrade at 130,000 miles, catalytic converter replaced at 155,000 miles, Upgraded headlights.

Nice Blaupunkt radio with electric antenna, has Alarm system, factory fog lights, cruise, tinted power windows, power mirrors.  It comes with a Porsche car cover.

The condition of the interior is pretty much flawless with only a little fading on the rear seat tops which could easily be dyed.  There is a small dent in the left rear quarter panel, there are some rock chips on the hood, no rust on floorpan and the car was reportedly garage kept.  I just replaced the strut lifts for the hood and engine cover.

It needs front tires and the AC need charging.

This is a low reserve auction compared to others on e-bay currently, but I reserve the right to end early for a local sale.  I can answer questions through ebay and on the phone between 6pm and 9pm CST during the week.  281-585-5744.  I can also get any other information you need from the owner.

Good Luck,

Mike

NHTSA closes probe into 2011 Porsche 911 coolant leaks

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that it will end its investigation into rapid coolant loss in 24,635 Porsche 911s built between 2001 and 2011. The models affected included the standard 911, GT2, GT3 and Turbo, as well as their variants (GT2 RS, GT3 RS and Turbo S).
NHTSA was investigating for "rapid coolant loss caused by coolant pipe-fitting failure, allegedly resulting in vehicle disablement and/or loss of vehicle control due to reduced traction for the affected vehicle or following traffic," according to the regulators website. "Most of the leak complaints did not appear to involve complete separation of the fittings and many were detected when the vehicle was parked," said NHTSA's statement.
There were 63 complaints and 336 warranty claims, although the investigation was initiated after ten complaints from customers. There have been no reports of crashes or injuries attributed to rapid coolant loss.

Chevy Corvette Stingray defeating rivals where it matters most

Wed, 16 Jul 2014

Everything is coming up roses for the award-winning Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, as new data from the North American Dealers Association dissected by GM Authority reveals that America's sports car is handily outselling two of its more expensive rivals.
Through June of 2014, the NADA notes that the Corvette has rung up 17,744 sales, handily besting the Porsche 911 and positively spanking the SRT Viper. Of course, you're sitting there thinking, "Corvette is outselling the much more expensive Porsche and Viper. Sky blue, water wet." But what's impressive here is just how thoroughly the Chevrolet is beating its two rivals, with this data serving as a testament to just how popular the seventh-generation sports car has become.
So far this year, Porsche has managed to move 5,169 911s, according to NADA. Considering that the base model starts at nearly $15,000 more than the most heavily optioned Stingray, and that Porsche owners have a vast, expensive options catalogue to select from, Stuttgart's sales are still plenty impressive in relation to the nearly 18,000 Corvettes sold.

Gemballa reveals new Porsche 991-based GT convertible

Sun, 16 Sep 2012

Gemballa went through the ringer last year, but rebounded with products that signal a complete turnaround. The latest is the recently-released Porsche 911 Carrera S with a Gemballa GT aerodynamics and technology package. Aero-wise, it includes carbon fiber additions beginning with a front bumper wearing the classic Gemballa air intake design and a lower, angrier splitter. New side skirts run from wheel to wheel, the final piece being a rear bumper in three sculpted horizontal sections featuring a rear diffuser tucked between six rectangular exhaust tips.
No engine mods have been made, but the technology part of the tune - springs that are 30 millimeters shorter yet still able to work with the PASM system - is claimed to make the car faster. Bringing things to a halt is a new Brembo brake system hiding behind 21-inch GForged wheels that are lighter than Porsche's standard 20-inchers.
The Gemballa GT aero kit runs €19,860 ($26,070 U.S.), which includes paint and installation if you happen to be in Germany, and we're assuming that includes the suspension modification, brakes and sport exhaust. The GForged wheels are another €9,895 ($12,989 U.S.) depending on your choice of tire. Check out the press release below for more info, and the photo gallery above for all the angles.
