Nice 911 project.
I got this last month in a package of 2 911s Looks like the motor on the other one is shot so Im unloading this one to free up funds for a rebuild It is a very solid 911. NO RUST. Looks to be an arizona and texas car No signs of rust even in the battery box area. Nice interior except for the dash Rear floor mats are missing but fronts are there and in decent shape Fuchs are clean and all straight with no major rash Everything is there. WHAT I HAVE DONE dump the old oil and replace oil and filter with a Fram and Rotella 15w-40 Replaced the fuel pump Started the engine WHAT IT NEEDS Paint Interior pieces back together Rear tires, current are dry rotted Air filter rubber straps Rear tailight lense Windshield Dash Cap Cover New seals-weatherstripping Turn signal covers My plan was to get this one painted and running well, however I thought I'd pass it along as is and let someone else pick this up as a project since these are getting more difficult to find. I PLAN TO PUT A LINK OF THE ENGINE RUNNING SO YOU CAN HEAR IT RUN SMOOTHLY. YOU WILL NOTICE THE ALT BELT IS REMOVED, IT WAS THAT WAY WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR. I HAVE A NEW BELT BUT WHEN I INSTALLED IT AND FIRED THE CAR UP THERE WAS A RATTLE FROM THE ALTERNATOR? (FROM WHAT I CAN TELL) SO I REMOVED IT AGAIN SINCE THE CAR IS ONLY STARTED FOR 30 SECONDS AT A TIME WHEN STARTED IT SMOKES A BIT LIKE ALL OLD 911s WHEN THEY SIT FOR A WHILE |

Porsche planning customer driving center at Le Mans
Fri, 29 Nov 2013Porsche seems to be on a campaign to build driving centers for its customers to allow them to experience the capabilities of their cars on track. It has one under way in Los Angeles, another in development at its North American headquarters in Atlanta, and a British center set up at the Silverstone circuit. Now the latest reports indicate that Porsche is planning yet another driving center at Le Mans.
The new facility is earmarked to be built at the Circuit de la Sarthe right by the start/finish line, incorporating the Porsche Curves that bridge the Arnage corner and the Ford Chicanes on the West side of the famous track.
Porsche is reportedly still seeking approval from the Automobile Club de l'Ouest that manages the circuit, and once given the green light, would still take some time to complete. But the idea of driving a 911 flat out on the legendary track is likely to make more than a few mouths water, particularly as the German automaker prepares its full-on assault of the famous endurance race next year.
Porsche Macan to get four-cylinder engines
Tue, 10 Dec 2013Porsche hasn't offered a four-cylinder engine since the 968 went out of production in 1995 - the better part of two decades ago. There'd been talk of a four-pot Boxster or an even smaller model to slot in below it, but while the latest intel indicates that Porsche is moving ahead with its four-cylinder plans, it's a different kind of vehicle that will get it first.
That, of course, would be the new Macan. Just revealed a few weeks ago at the LA Auto Show, the Macan crossover is being launched with a pair of twin-turbocharged V6 engines (a 3.0 with 340 horsepower and a 3.6 with 400 hp) and a six-cylinder turbodiesel with 258 hp. But smaller engines, according to emerging reports from Autocar and Auto Express, are on their way.
Word has it that Porsche is preparing a 2.0-liter turbo four with 280 horsepower and a diesel with the same displacement and cylinder count, engines that will power new entry-level Macan models that will slot in beneath the existing Macan S, Macan S Diesel and Macan Turbo. While the diesel is tipped to be ported over from the Volkswagen parts bin, the four-cylinder gasoline engine is said to be under development by Porsche itself, which could mean it will have a boxer layout.
Petrolicious details why the Porsche 911 is something special
Thu, 26 Sep 2013The Porsche 911 is a special car, if for no other reasons than it's been continuously produced since 1964, with nearly every generation regarded as being at or near the top of its class. But why the rear-engined icon has done so well among enthusiasts and regular drivers alike can't always be explained easily. To truly understand the 911, you have to experience the whole package, and that means driving one.
While just about every publication has raved about the Porsche, commercial director, race driver, photographer and 911 owner Jeff Zwart explains to Petrolicious why he was drawn to the legend as a young child, and why he still loves them today.
Zwart's professional and personal life are inextricably linked to the 911, and hearing him talk about the car and its history makes for fascinating viewing. Watch the video below to hear Zwart's story and see him drive a couple examples from his collection: an early 911 and the 964-generation Carrera 4 he won Pikes Peak with for the first time - a car that happens to be equipped with the 959 Paris-Dakar's fascinating torque-split transmission. Enjoy!
