Porsche 911 Sc 1983 Sunroof Coupe - Guards Red on 2040-cars
Rockford, Illinois, United States
Purchased this car in Texas about 14 years ago. I'm the second owner. This is the second 911 I've owned. My first was silver but when I found this red one I made the change. She drives, shifts and handles great. My divorce is final and I have to let her go so someone else gets the opportunity to enjoy her. She's always been kept in the garage and rarely seen rain, never seen snow. The 83' is known as "bullet-proof" because of the low maintenance requirements. Change the oil and that's about all they need. I did have a mechanic tune her up in 2010 and he did all the adjustments he thought she might need at the time. I had an Alpine sound system installed a couple of years ago so that I could use my phone in the car. The sub that's in the rear isn't the "boom-boom" type but more of the ported type. Sounds nice with all types of music. If you want to use the rear seats it's easily removable. Never had any accidents. The only problems I've seen in her history were emission test related to the original owner in Texas. That's about all I can think of. Good luck bidding. She's an awesome car. Porsche continues facelift spree with 911 Turbo
Fri, 24 Jan 2014If there's ever been automotive case for constant evolution, it is the Porsche 911. It seems like every time a new version of the rear-engined sports car debuts, Porsche is already hard at work on a facelifted version of it that changes some subtle, barely noticeable aspect.
Such is the case with this round of images of a facelifted 911 Turbo, which was seen undergoing winter testing alongside the facelifted, hardtop-version of the 911 Cabriolet we showed you yesterday. The new, 991-based 911 Turbo was just unveiled in May of 2013.
Like the Cabrio from yesterday, both the Turbo and naturally aspirated models shown here feature additional slats at the rear of the car, right behind the rear wheels. These slats on the standard model lend credence to what we learned yesterday - that even the regular 911 models could end up getting turbocharged mills.
Jay Leno puts carbon fiber wheels to the test on a Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Thu, 04 Sep 2014Jay Leno's Garage usually focuses on looking at cars new and old, speaking to their owners and then Jay taking a drive to see what he thinks. However, Leno throws his usual shtick to the curb this week to do a full product test of the carbon fiber wheels from a company called Carbon Revolution. If you're not interested in hearing about wheels for 18 minutes, don't worry. They get mounted on a Porsche and are tested back-to-back with stock wheels, and Leno takes the 911 for a track test, too.
While carbon-fiber wheels aren't exactly a new idea, Carbon Revolution's goal is to create a lightweight, one-piece product that can be mass produced. The company even claims that it already has a deal with an OEM automaker to offer them on a vehicle in a few years. The key to the technology is that it doesn't need an expensive autoclave to be made.
In the meantime, the company's carbon fiber wheels are available as an aftermarket option for about $15,000 a set, according to the video. They weigh in at about 15.5 pounds each and offer OEM-levels of stiffness, so they could cut some unsprung mass off of a performance car. Watch here as Jay and his mechanic Bernard lap Willow Springs and give their feedback about what they think of this cutting-edge technology.
Porsche boss admits Panamera's style is offputting
Sat, 11 Oct 2014
"There have been some small mistakes and we will do it better. For example the design could be better." - Matthias Mueller.
The design of the Porsche Panamera has been divisive, to say the least. Pretty much any Porsche with four doors was going to draw the ire of enthusiasts, but the fast-back-style roofline, prominent curves and seemingly never-ending hood have particularly irked some brand loyalists.
