This is a 1992 Porsche 911 C2 sunroof coupe.  It is a project car and is not running.  It has been off the road since 2005.  The car developed a valve problem and the owner who was a mechanic removed the engine and transaxle, disassembled the engine, had the cylinder heads professionally rebuilt and then lost interest.  The car appears to be complete.  The car is green with a grey leather interior, has electric sunroof, power seats, power windows, power mirrors, air conditioning, left and right air bags, and all of the standard Porsche features.  In addition to the engine work, it will need a left outside door handle, a spare tire/wheel, and two new fog lights.  There may be other items that I am not aware of that may need attention as well.  You can see the exterior condition as I have taken pictures of most of the areas that will need attention.  There is also a dent in the left rear quarter panel that does not show up in the pictures.  The interior is in pretty good condition.  This is a great base for a race car or street hot rod.  It is after all a 3.6 liter engine with a G50 trans.  This car is being sold as is, as shown with no warranty or guarantee of any manner shape or form.  A $500.00 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of the close of the auction.  The deposit can be made via PayPal.  Final payment is due within seven days of the close of the auction.  Sorry, but due to the proliferation of forged bank checks,I will only  accept final payment via bank transfer or cash upon pickup.  I will not accept PayPal for the final payment.  The buyer is responsible for shipping or pickup.  I can store the car for up to two weeks after the close of the auction, however, all payments must be made as stated above.  Thank you.

Porsche Cayman S and Caterham 7 go head to head on the drag strip

Fri, 27 Jun 2014

We recently saw the standard Porsche Cayman go up against a Subaru WRX STI in a one-mile drag race with surprising results. Apparently, Evo had a similar idea of evaluating the Cayman's quickness. However, it opted for the more powerful S model and chose a flyweight Caterham Roadsport 140 as the challenger. Will the results of this battle be as close at the end of the kilometer-long (0.62-mile) drag?
Neither of these are cars you'd usually associate with drag racing, but they are nearly evenly matched. Evo selected them based on power-to-weight ratio, with the Caterham offering a scant 140 horsepower in a lithe 1,213-pound package. The Porsche is a quite svelte 2,910 pounds but has 325 hp to haul it around.
Of course, power-to-weight ratio isn't everything. There are a ton of other variables like aerodynamics and gearing that play a huge role, as well. Can the little Caterham's weight advantage overcome the better aero and additional power of the Porsche? Scroll down watch the video and find out.

VW makes $23K on every Porsche sold, more than Bentley or Lamborghini

Fri, 14 Mar 2014

It's a good time to be in the luxury car business. In Volkswagen Group's financial report for the 2013 fiscal year, it is revealed that that Porsche enjoyed an operating margin of 18 percent. That means the Stuttgart brand made on average about $23,200 per car sold, according to BusinessWeek. Bentley wasn't far behind, and Audi (which was combined with Lamborghini) posted a 10.1 percent margin. This compares to only around 2.9 percent for the Volkswagen brand.
"Luxury brands are on fire," said Dave Sullivan, an industry analyst at AutoPacific. He said that the average profit margin is between six and eight percent. Brands like Porsche and Bentley have the benefit of competing in rarefied markets. Buyers looking at one their vehicles have fewer models to shop against and don't care as much about price. They can also charge more for options, which further boosts income, according to BusinessWeek.
In a way, we should be more impressed by the continued success from Audi. Its models generally have direct competitors in every segment from the other premium automakers. Plus, their buyers aren't the captains of industry who are shopping for a Bentley. Still, the Four Rings is leading rivals in sales so far this year.

Porsche Macan teaser reveals unique quad-LEDs

Fri, 11 Oct 2013

In truth, all-but-undisguised prototypes for the upcoming Porsche Macan compact crossover have been spotted galavanting all around the globe for some time now, but even the least-camouflaged examples have been caught wearing eyepatches covering their headlights and taillights. A dark new teaser image from Porsche clues us in to why that is - the baby Cayenne is getting unique quad-LED peepers up front.
Porsche has been hinting at lighting innovations in its production cars through recent concept reveals, including the stunning Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo showcar from last year's Paris Motor Show. The wagonized Panamera also featured four-point LED arrays up front, as well is in the rear, so it seems likely that this lighting will become a Porsche design signature going forward.
Powerpoint slides leaked from a recent dealer meeting suggest the Macan S will arrive packing a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, while the Macan Turbo will boast a 3.6-liter force-fed unit, with both models receiving seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gearboxes. Pricing is expected to range from $52,000 for the S model to $75,000 for the Turbo.
