Many Upgrades, Over $50k In Receipts on 2040-cars

Year:1985 Mileage:13868
Location:

Baltimore, Maryland, United States

Baltimore, Maryland, United States

My wife and I recently moved from San Diego, CA to Baltimore, MD.  I went from having a two car garage to a one car garage, and, now, a baby is on the way.

My loss is your gain.  The last owner of this car never intended sell it.  He spent a lot of money on it, but he was hurt bad in the housing crisis and so I bought it off him in 2009.  I am willing to sell it for the same amount I paid for it even though I have over $15k in my own receipts since purchase.  I am an engineer by background, and I have a fair amount of OCD when it comes to my projects.  I just kept addressing every little thing that I could find.  I think that comes through in how I represent the car.

This is a California car.  The maintenance receipts dating back to 1985 demonstrate the desert provenance of the car, and the VIN report shows emission checks in arid southern California.  It has never seen salt or ice.  It has no rust.

I have over $50k in receipts for the last 14,000 miles on the car.  The car also comes with receipts dating back to 1985.  The mileage listed is since the engine rebuild.

Here are the big ticket receipts:

Major Engine Rebuild (14k miles)
- Mild performance upgrades including ported and polished cylinder head, compression and cam
- Custom chip programmed on the dyno reaching 208hp at the rear wheel
Complete Transmission Rebuild (6k miles)
- Fast Shift Synchros
- Wevo Linkage, Wevo PSJ, Wevo Spring Kit, Wevo Extended Handle
Suspension Upgrades (5k miles)
- 24mm Hollow Elephant Torsion bars up front, 33mm Hollow Elephant Torsion bars in the back
- Bilstein Sport Shocks, Corner Balanced
Complete Interior Refurbishment
- New leather, new carpets, new dashboard, new door panels
- The pictures show it well

This car is absolutely reliable.  It leaks zero fluids.  It has excellent rubber trim all the way around, great heating, and ice cold A/C.  You could certainly use it as a daily driver without any issue and not have the guilt of devaluing a low mileage car.  I can refer you to Black Forest Porsche in San Diego to ask about my maintenance history with the car and how persistent I was about addressing every little thing I could find. Give them the VIN so they can pull their records and ask for Jeff, or you could just look at my book of receipts.

There is just over 268,000 miles on the odometer.  The paint is the original single stage treatment from Stuttgart.  It has nicks and chips commiserate with its age.  It looks great in sunshine but a bit faded under artificial light.  The next owner might consider repainting if you can find someone near you who will perform a single stage application correctly.  Please don't mess up this beautiful car with clearcoat.

The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction should another transaction occur.  Serious bidders only please.

Thank you for your time in reading my ad and good luck bidding.

McLaren boss' exclusive Porsche 935 Street is worth three 911 Turbos

Wed, 21 May 2014

McLarens may be exclusive, but there are still hundreds - if not thousands - of people out there who can say they own one. Mansour Ojjeh is one of them, but he doesn't just own a McLaren - he owns McLaren. As in, the company that makes the racing and exotic supercars. Or 25 percent of it, anyway. As the head of Techniques d'Avant Garde, Ojjeh is one of the British outfit's largest shareholders, previously having owned Heuer watches (before selling it to luxury giant LVMH) and engineered Porsche's most successful foray into Formula One - winning the world drivers' championship three times in a row and the constructors' title twice with Alain Prost and Niki Lauda behind the wheel of McLarens with Porsche engines developed and branded by TAG.
In short, he probably could get any McLaren he wanted at the drop of a hat, but also had strong ties to Porsche in the 80s, and this is the car he wanted. It's called the Porsche 935 Street, and it's the only one ever made. Inspired by the 935 racer that won Le Mans and over 120 other races, Ojjeh contracted Porsche Exclusive when it was still in its infancy to make him one for the road. So they took a 930 bodyshell, slotted in the 3.3-liter turbo flat-six from the 934 but cranked output up to 375 horsepower, and gave it the brakes, suspension, BBS wheels and wide-body aero from the 935 racer. They painted it a deep metallic red and trimmed the interior with cream leather and wood veneer.
When all was said and done, a total of 550 modifications were performed, detailed on a seventeen-page invoice and costing as much as three new 911 Turbos at the time. Ojjeh only put 12,000 miles on the odometer, running up and down the French Riviera, and has now put it up for sale at the upcoming Bonhams auction at Spa where it's tipped to fetch upwards of 300,000 euros - equivalent to $410k at today's rates, or, once again, the price of about three new 911 Turbos.

Porsche has doubled US sales to women [w/videos]

Wed, 21 Aug 2013

Porsche is having a good sales year in the US, with 25,129 vehicles delivered year-to-date coming off the automaker's best July sales ever. That's a 31-percent increase over the same period last year (19,253 deliveries). With year-to-date Panamera sales a surprising 36 percent lower than last year, what possibly could be driving Porsche's sales surge? If you answered Cayman and Boxster sales, you're right. But dealerships are noticing another factor: more women are coming in to buy Porsches, CNBC reports, the bulk of whom picked up new Cayenne SUVs. The German automaker's sales to women in the US have more than doubled in the past two years, increasing from 7 percent to 15 percent. This has helped year-to-date Cayenne sales reach 11,082 - 31 percent higher than the same time last year.
Porsche executives have been trying to tap into the women's market, as evidenced in part by the company's move to pick professional tennis player Maria Sharapova as a brand ambassador. Porsche maintains it has not moved to dramatically change its brand image, but it has shown a number of ads in recent years that uncharacteristically emphasize its vehicles' practicality under the "Engineered for Magic. Everyday" banner - some featuring female drivers.
Be sure to watch CNBC's video report on Porsche's female movement below - you'll also find one of the aforementioned Engineered For Magic ads as well as an interesting case study video on the campaign from ad agency Cramer-Krasselt.

This FL man accused of stealing drivers licenses has best tattoo ever

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

Bentley and Porsche are two of the jewels in Volkswagen Group's luxury brand crown, but in Florida they also have a very tenuous connection with crime. With his multiple face and neck tattoos, including a Bentley logo right between his eyes, Derek Denesevich (pictured above) has been charged with the surprising crime of alleged identity theft. He recently surrendered to a Florida court, and could face seven years in prison, if convicted.
You might wonder where Porsche fits into this. According to the Sun Sentinel, Denesevich's accomplice was one Porscha Kyles, who worked for the Broward Clerk of Courts. She allegedly used her access to driver's license records to steal information and sell it to Denesevich. He is then accused of filing fraudulent income taxes to recoup the refund checks.
According to the Sentinel, Kyles has already pleaded guilty to conspiracy and identity theft and was sentenced to three years and one day in prison. The duo reportedly stole over 100 identities and made at least $120,000. Scroll down for a video about this pair of auto-related criminals.
