2009 Porsche 911 Carrera "s" Cabriolet on 2040-cars
Rancho Cucamonga, California, United States
Options - 220 / Limited Slip Rear Differential Lock + 250 / 7 Speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) + 267 / Self Dimming Mirrors + 342 / Heated Seats + 446 / Wheel Caps With Colored Crest + 541 / Seat Ventilation + 603 / Dynamic Cornering Lights + 640 / Sport Chrono Package + 672 / Navigation Module for PCM + 680 / BOSE High End Sound Package + 810 / Floor Mats in Interior Color + 870 / Universal Audio Interface + P15 / Power Comfort Seats with Driver Memory - This impeccable Porsche has a "CA Salvage Title" - It has had a new Porsche OEM left quarter skin and a new OEM right fender skin installed. The repair was done by one of the premier shops in Southern CA - After the repairs were completed the car was sent to Rusnak Porsche in Pasadena, CA where an alignment to factory specs was done + a second new Porsche key was programmed + a Porsche PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection) was performed. The car looks and drives as new. Manheim suggested retail is $76,000 - this car can be purchased right - It has a very reasonable reserve well below most others you will find. I strongly encourage anyone interested to contact me with questions prior to bidding. I would suggest in addition to the Porsche PPI I had done that a serious bidder either come and see the car or send someone to look at it. This car is an incredible bargain for someone that has always wanted one and will keep it a long time. If you are someone that changes cars frequently then you need to consider that salvage title cars do sell but they typically sell for 10 to 20% or more less than retail. This will be sold through a CA retail dealer or if you are a dealer with a wholesale report of sale. PLEASE ask ANY questions prior to bidding - Thanks

McQueen's Porsche 917 from Le Mans races to the auction block
Mon, 23 Jun 2014Steve McQueen may have been the headline actor of the motorsport cult classic film Le Mans, but we all know who the real star was. Or rather, what: the Porsche 917. More specifically, it was the Gulf-liveried #22 - not McQueen's #21 - that won the race, making it one of the most iconic cars ever to drive across the silver screen. And now it's going up for auction.
This 1969 Porsche 917K, chassis 917-024, has a storied history both on and off the screen, even if it didn't win any (off-screen) races of note. This example was the first 917 to be campaigned in an actual race when Porsche handed it to Jo Siffert to drive against the Ferrari 312P and Ford GT40 at the Spa-Francorchamps 1000 Km race in 1969. Siffert found the early example too unstable and ultimately drove an earlier 908 to the checkered flag, but after 917-024 set the fastest time at the following year's Le Mans test day, Siffert acquired it outright.
The Swiss racing driver loaned the car to Solar Productions for use in the film, after which it returned to Siffert's collection until he was killed in an F1 exposition race at Brands Hatch in 1971. In a testament to how much he loved the car, it was 917-024 that lead the funeral procession. The car subsequently fell off the radar until it resurfaced in 2001 as one of the greatest barn finds of the new millennium. Now fully restored and resplendent in its original baby blue and orange, 917-024 is headed to the auction block at Pebble Beach where you can be sure that Gooding & Company will bring in a suitably high price for arguably the most iconic example of one of the most iconic Porsches of all time.
Singer 911 gorgeousness explored and experienced by Chris Harris
Thu, 17 Jan 2013Few things get us as cranked up as a Porsche 911. Generation after generation, this rear-engined oddity has exhilarated our senses, and the new 991 is the most capable iteration yet. Even so, there's a lot to be said for the older models, from their lighter weights and more modest dimensions to their air-cooled thrums.
That elemental vintage Porsche appeal hasn't been lost on Los Angeles-based Singer Vehicle Design, which has endeavored to take the best bits from every generation of 911 and combine them into one impossibly sexy rear-engined machine. Based on a 964 donor car, we knew that a lot of work would need to go into everything from the structure to the bodywork to realize the Singer's cohesive aesthetic and dynamic vision, but we didn't know just how much until we watched this Drive video featuring Chris Harris. The auto journo gets time with the 350-horsepower, Cosworth-motivated coupe on both mountain passes and at the track, but what could be the most interesting thing about the 27-minute-long video is his in-depth plant tour.
Check it out by scrolling below, but not before paging through our new Singer 911 gallery.
Evo makes the case for the world's best driving road in Majorca
Tue, 05 Aug 2014What good is a sports car if you haven't got a great place to drive it? It's a common refrain that we've heard time and time again. But few are as familiar with the problem as they are in the UK, where the number of people, cars on the road and traffic cameras keep growing to conspire against the joy of driving. Leave it to Evo, then, to depart in search of the greatest driving road in the world.
It's a pursuit that's taken the British car mag across Europe, most recently to Romania's Carpathian Mountains where it added the Transalpina Pass to its short list. But its latest journey has taken Evo to the Spanish island of Majorca, where Henry Catchpole found not one, but two spectacular driving roads from behind the wheel of the new Porsche Boxster GTS. We could drone on about the smooth, empty ribbons of twisting tarmac with excellent visibility and panoramic vistas... but you really want to see the video for yourself. Don't miss Evo's previous trip to Romania in the Jaguar F-Type, which we've included below, as well.
