Beyond Rare Factory Equipped Carrera Power Kit (X51) 911 C2S. It’s kind of like finding a unicorn. With only 28,500 miles. This is as close as you can get to a GT3/GTS from factory without paying GT3 money. Not to mention, you can keep the comforts of the standard S. Please note, the price of this is higher than a typical Carrera S, because it's not just a Carrera S. It's one of only a handful Carrera Power Kit equipped cars. And, it was equipped when built at the Porsche Factory, not completed by a tuner or a shop. I've only seen two X51 equipped cars on the market this year, grab it while you can. Year: 2006 Mileage: 28,500* (Still being driven) Exclusive Options: Custom order from factory with the following 1. Carrera S Power Kit (16,900) Cylinder heads with flow-optimized intake and exhaust ports Intake Manifold & Throttle Body - Increases inlet size from 76 mm to 82 mm X51 Headers - larger cross-section and optimized flow behavior Carbon Fiber Airbox with two intake channels Modified maps for the DME control unit Sport Exhaust with Chrome Tips & Dash Switch Third Radiator Kit Increased Engine Speed 2. Instrument Dials - Guards Red (860) 3. Seat Belts - Guards Red (540) Options: Black Mats - Porsche Lettering (115) Power Seat Package (1,550) Heated Front Seats (480) Bose High End Sound Package (1,390) Additional Extras: Upgraded Fabspeed Exhaust (Crossover Sports Cats and Headers). Mufflers were retained, which still enables the Porsche Sport Exhaust to operate. Ridiculously amazing sound, at the switch of a button. Condition and Care: Vehicle is in outstanding condition. Some Service history is included in documentation, as well as original window sticker, and all books (manuals, etc.) and 2 sets of keys. Full Service on 12/2013 (22,745 miles) the following services were completed: Oil Change, Spark Plugs replaced, Belts replaced, Cabin Air Filter replaced, Intake Air Filter replaced, Wipers replaced, Brake Fluid changed. Oil change was also completed again on 08/2014. Overall, this vehicle is in outstanding mechanical and cosmetic condition. Having the x51 Power Kit definitely sets this apart from standard 911 S’s. The sound that the x51 Sport Exhaust puts out is intoxicating to say the least. And the Power and handling will speak for themselves. Invoice on this vehicle was 104,000, easily making this the most expensive non-turbo, GT3 997 I have ever seen. The options were tastefully selected, and worth every penny.

Porsche looks back on very first 911 Turbo

Wed, 11 Jun 2014

Porsche has really hit on a winning formula with its series of videos going inside its vault. So far, we've seen the V8 911 prototype, mid-engine test mule and aerodynamic prototype. The company is sticking with the 911 theme in the latest entry, but this time it's an actual production car - the very first 911 Turbo ever made.
Being the first Turbo would make it important enough, but the car was also a birthday present for Louise Piëch, daughter of Ferdinand Porsche and sister to Ferry Porsche, and she regularly used the car. The family didn't just hand her a random car off the assembly line, either. She got to make it her own with some interesting modifications. She supposedly even painted landscapes from inside the car.
You have to wonder what Piëch thought of her present. The early Turbos had a reputation for being a bit of a handful to drive. The boost tended to bring the power all at once, which wasn't always welcome when cornering. She deserves some honor just for driving the car on the curvy, alpine roads. Scroll down to learn about this important Porsche, and we can't wait to see what car the brand showcases next.

Porsche Cayman S and Caterham 7 go head to head on the drag strip

Fri, 27 Jun 2014

We recently saw the standard Porsche Cayman go up against a Subaru WRX STI in a one-mile drag race with surprising results. Apparently, Evo had a similar idea of evaluating the Cayman's quickness. However, it opted for the more powerful S model and chose a flyweight Caterham Roadsport 140 as the challenger. Will the results of this battle be as close at the end of the kilometer-long (0.62-mile) drag?
Neither of these are cars you'd usually associate with drag racing, but they are nearly evenly matched. Evo selected them based on power-to-weight ratio, with the Caterham offering a scant 140 horsepower in a lithe 1,213-pound package. The Porsche is a quite svelte 2,910 pounds but has 325 hp to haul it around.
Of course, power-to-weight ratio isn't everything. There are a ton of other variables like aerodynamics and gearing that play a huge role, as well. Can the little Caterham's weight advantage overcome the better aero and additional power of the Porsche? Scroll down watch the video and find out.

Son of Porsche 911 designer recalls 1963 Frankfurt debut

Wed, 16 Oct 2013

The Goodwood Revival is described by its presenters as the greatest motorsport racing party of the year. We often focus heavily on the motorsports, but you can't forget about the party. For the first preview of the new 911 Turbo in the UK, Porsche recreated its booth from the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963 - the time and place of the original 911's public debut.
Porsche's cameras also caught up with Mark Porsche, the great grandson of Dr. Ferdinand Porsche and son of the late Ferdinand Alexander "Butzi" Porsche, who oversaw the design of the 911. Mark Porsche admires the 911's friendly design, which is set off by the round headlights, and says his mother, who was at the original Frankfurt booth in 1963, was milling around the booth at Goodwood - no doubt taking a trip down memory lane.
