Sadly I must sell my loved Porsche 996 Targa. An upcoming move to a large city and no parking means I must sell, but I hope it goes to another enthusiast who will take care of the car. It took me a long time to find the color combination of Black over Savannah Beige interior especially in a Targa. I choose the Targa because I wanted an open air feel car with out the soft top convertible and also because the Targa's are the only 996 with the open rear hatchback style window. In summary the car is a 2003 Porsche 911 (996) Carrera 2 Targa with approximately 80k miles on the chassis. Recently due to a faulty coolant pipe the original motor was pulled and a brand new '07 build year 997 3.6L crate motor direct from Porsche was installed by Roock Motorsports. When you buy a new motor from Porsche it comes with everything new attached to the motor so it is a complete swap, not just a bare longblock. The chassis has approximately 80k miles and the new motor has approx. 1500 miles, just broken in! As you would expect with a new motor the engine bay is very clean and the best part is that since it's a newer 997 motor you don't have to worry about the dreaded IMS issue. The interior is exceptionally clean as well. Brakes and tires (Pzero Rossos) have plenty of life and there are no issues with the car. I would not hesitate to drive this car across the country. Car is accident free and I can provide an Autocheck. The beautiful Targa top works perfect and is great on sunny days. Highlights: 2003 Porsche 996 Targa Black exterior Savannah Beige leather interior 6 speed manual Brand new 997 3.6L motor installed (Documentation included) New clutch approx. 3k miles ago 80k miles on chassis, 1500 miles on new motor 997S wheels with Pirelli Rosso tires Garage kept Southern car Non-Smoker, enthusiast owned Car is located in Nashville, TN. Clean title in hand. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things so please email me with any questions. I have additional aftermarket parts like CCW wheels, spacers, EVO intake, and a Fabspeed exhaust that I will make a great deal on for a potential buyer. Thanks for looking. Please email if interested. |

Porsche 911 Targa leaks out ahead of Detroit debut
Mon, 13 Jan 2014With the doors of Cobo Center opening for the 2014 Detroit Auto Show this morning, Porsche is set to reveal its new 911 Targa in a matter of hours. But before it gets the chance, the first batch of images have already leaked out, courtesy of Chinese car site autohome.com.cn.
As expected, the new Targa appears to ditch the complex sliding glass roof panels that adorned recent versions of the semi-convertible 911 in favor of a more back-to-basics approach. An entirely removable roof panel opens up the sky, backed by a metallic B-pillar hoop in front of a large curved-glass rear window.
We'll have to wait just a little longer for the full scope of images and all the official details, but we're expecting the new Targa to carry most of the same technical specifications as the 991 on which it's based. Watch this space for more.
Porsche 918 Spyder could lap the 'Ring even quicker [w/video]
Mon, 16 Sep 2013Porsche had a lot to crow about at the Frankfurt Motor Show last week. Not only did it debut the new 50 Years edition and Turbo versions of the 911 and the new hybrid and diesel versions of the Panamera, but while unveiling the final production version of the new 918 Spyder, it revealed the record lap it set around the Nürburgring.
The 918 Spyder's 6:57 lap time makes it the fastest street-legal production car ever to lap the Nordschleife and the first to break the seven-minute barrier. But the driver who clocked the time thinks it can go even faster.
That driver was Marc Lieb, who has won the Nürburgring 24-hour race four times, making him something of an expert on the subject. In speaking with Australia's Drive TV, Lieb suggested that they could get even more out of the car, as you can hear for yourself in the video below.
Evo makes the case for the world's best driving road in Majorca
Tue, 05 Aug 2014What good is a sports car if you haven't got a great place to drive it? It's a common refrain that we've heard time and time again. But few are as familiar with the problem as they are in the UK, where the number of people, cars on the road and traffic cameras keep growing to conspire against the joy of driving. Leave it to Evo, then, to depart in search of the greatest driving road in the world.
It's a pursuit that's taken the British car mag across Europe, most recently to Romania's Carpathian Mountains where it added the Transalpina Pass to its short list. But its latest journey has taken Evo to the Spanish island of Majorca, where Henry Catchpole found not one, but two spectacular driving roads from behind the wheel of the new Porsche Boxster GTS. We could drone on about the smooth, empty ribbons of twisting tarmac with excellent visibility and panoramic vistas... but you really want to see the video for yourself. Don't miss Evo's previous trip to Romania in the Jaguar F-Type, which we've included below, as well.
