Upgraded with complete intake, performance clutch, fuel map tuning, completely new cooling system, etc. New convertible top also just installed."

This car is a 3 owner car, with my family having owned the car since it had 3K miles on it.  This car suffered one of the infamous engine failures of the 1999- 2001 models, where the cylinder sleeve cracked, leaking coolant into the cylinder.  The rest is history.  Instead of having Porsche "repair" the car, at a cost of over 20 thousand dollars, I had the car delivered to Fabian Roock of Roock Autosport in Atlanta to do an engine upgrade.

He sourced and installed a BOMBPROOF  3.6 liter engine from a donor 997 car with less than 1000 miles on the odometer.  Also installed with the engine were a new Sachs clutch, a COMPLETE new cooling system, new cold air intake, and various other miscellaneous items.   The soft top was also replaced with a brand new top.

Original condition of the car is amazing as it only has 25,000 miles give or take, so the interior still looks and smells new, the paint is in great shape, (only minor stone chips on the front bumper and hood.  Wheels are also in excellent shape with only the right rear having the slightest curb rash (was there when we original bought the car at 3K miles).

The options on the car Include the upgraded FULL leather interior (Savannah beige), Metallic green paint, Black Carrera script, Fully integrated front and rear radar with dashboard warning lights, CD changer, Wood steering wheel and handbrake, etc.  Also has the factory hardtop (but it's located in New Jersey with my brother at the moment.  Arrangements can be made to pick it up, or have it shipped at the buyer's expense.

Car is unbelievably quick at this point, with HP exceeding Carrera S type models with the conversion.  Pulls hard all the way to redline!

For more details, or to schedule an inspection/ test drive etc., please call Fabian Roock directly in Atlanta, as the car is still at the shop.   The only reason the car is up for sale is because our family is growing, and we won't all be able to get in for our Top down drives!

You can reach Fabian at his headquarters in Atlanta by calling the shop at 404.352.8000.

He does travel back and forth to Europe, so if you have any problems reaching him, please email me and I'll be able to get you in touch with him.

Thanks for looking.

Supercar parade entering highway is mesmerizing

Thu, 09 May 2013

In what must have looked and sounded to motorists on the M6 like an invasion of The Swarm, a parade of 50 enthusiast gems leaving a charity event were caught shooting down the on-ramp and merging into traffic. There were plenty of Porsches joining the 959 and Ducktail above, Aston Martins going back to the badboy V8 of the last millennium, a Ferrari Testarossa, a TVR and numerous other Easter eggs.
There were not, however, plenty of turn signals, with someone counting just five among the fifty engaging in proper use of the blinker. One reason put forth for that is the same reason we're posting this video, which is from last Summer, below: "because supercar." Enjoy.

Porsche board members facing another ˆ1.8B lawsuit over VW takeover bid

Mon, 03 Feb 2014

Back in 2008, Porsche got the bright idea that it could take over Volkswagen in the midst of the worst economic slump since the Great Depression. Ignoring that this was a catastrophic move for the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer that that eventually resulted in it nearly going bankrupt and eventually being taken over by the same company it sought to control, the aftermath has left Porsche Chairman Wolfgang Porsche and board member Ferdinand Piëch in the crosshairs of seven hedge funds that lost out during the takeover and are now seeking €1.8 billion - $2.43 billion US - in damages from the two execs, according to the BBC.
See, investors bet on Volkswagen's share price going down, partially because Porsche said it wasn't going to attempt a takeover. But Porsche was attempting to take over VW, having bought up nearly 75-percent of VW's publicly traded shares. When word broke that Porsche owned nearly three-quarters of VW (which indicated an imminent takeover attempt), rather than go down like the hedge funds bet it would, VW's share price skyrocketed to over 1,000 euros per share, according to Reuters.
Naturally, when you bet that a company's share price is going to drop and it in turn (temporarily) becomes the world's most valuable company, you lose a lot of money, unless you're able to buy up shares before prices jump too much. This led to a squeeze on the stock, which the hedge funds accuse Porsche and Piëch (who are both members of the Porsche family and supervisory board) of organizing.

Porsche responds to PETA after tiger cub displays at Macan dealership events

Tue, 13 May 2014

Porsche has found itself in the good graces of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which is pretty odd considering it's the only brand we know of that offers leather-lined vents. The activist group is praising the sports car manufacturer's handling of reports that some of its dealerships were set to feature tigers or tiger cubs at the local launch events for the Macan. Apparently, "macan" is the Malay word for tiger, which explains the connection between a highly touted crossover and a jungle cat.
A Tampa, FL dealership already displayed some three-week-old cubs, with PETA saying tigers for display should be at least eight to 12 weeks old. Even then, the group argues that the animals can suffer due to stress, malnourishment, neglect and a lack of veterinary care. The group brings up legal concerns, as well, arguing that if one of the cubs bit a customer, the dealership could be held liable (we're no big cat experts, but it seems unlikely a three-week-old cub could do that much damage).
Porsche's PR department quickly reacted to PETA's claims, with Vice President of Marketing Andre Oosthuizen, telling the group that Porsche is concerned about the "welfare of any animal, large or small, wild or domesticated." Oosthuizen's statements were reported in an official PETA blog.
